I remember that tower traveling back and forth to Newark oh those days of flying were fun and Kiwi is the only airline i really remember most from those times
tanay.very very very nice video I really like old planes miss this planes and specially boeing 737.200 my childhood time days nowadays aircraft not so impressive compare past planes old is gold.
Watching this video now makes it seem like it was 40 years ago. Tri-holers everywhere. Great airlines like Midwest Ex, and Midway almost gone from memory, by now. I remember being 19-20 in college, along with..smoky bars, email labs, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette and Metallica on MTV.
Anyone who remembers Flight 93 that depart out of Newark and Flight 77 depart out of Dulles and Flight 11 and Flight 175 that both of them depart out of Boston
Remember tons of Continental DC10s at Newark through the late 90s. I think the Concorde mishap hastened their retirement. Midway did not fly again after 9/11.
tanay.when our world everything is so good but time after time yearby year everything is gone I really miss this times 90sandcspecialy past 2000s my childhood period when planes are so good and sound was impressive specially bowing 737.200 and old United airlines old is gold remember that and nowadays not as close with this planes .
WOW ! I'm jealous of the vantage-point you had filming this, on the roof of the old PA Admin building ! I worked EWR from '86 -'01, starting with PeoplExpress then Continental, transferring to IAH in April of '01. Thanks for posting, I had a lot of fun at EWR.
Almost all planes in this video are in the graveyard now with the exception of the CO, DL, and maybe the UA 757s. This feels like an "all my friends are dead" scenario O_O
Reminds me of a flight I was on in May 2017 going to Newark. United 757-200 from LAX to EWR. Sunset landing. Interesting thing: flight number was UA 1997. Just like this video.
Video looks very accurate. I used to work there in 1997-98. At least this video did get a few of the ATR's but still missed the A-340's. The 727's would sometimes climb out much lower over the employee parking lot and set off some of the car alarms with its very loud "whisperjet" turbojet engines. So why is everyone keeping the population reduction secrete?
Holy cow! L-1011s, DC-10s, DC-9-10/30s, 727s, Fokker 100s, 737-200s! Love it all! Miss that great stuff!
Also the LOT and SAS 767’s and Air France 747
When the old iconic control tower was still in operation. Now they have an tall unimaginative cement stick
I remember going to the "old" Newark airport in my childhood to watch planes on the observation deck.
I remember that tower traveling back and forth to Newark oh those days of flying were fun and Kiwi is the only airline i really remember most from those times
Newark airport used to have more variety in aircraft and airlines and I wish a was alive at that time to see it.
I miss the 90s so much. I would do anything to go back.

Same here.
2:20 - This is adorable. They're taxiing in tandem, like the Continental 757 was like "okay we gonna do this or what boys".

The Smoke at 4:06 and 5:27 is so much foreshadowing it hurts.
yes
This was the time when flying still was fun!"A variety of aircraft and airlines as far as the eye can see !
I remember now, Newark used to be a major Continental hub! I loved Continental, wish they were still around.
Gordan Bethune!
Love the skyline with the wtc in the background
Great footage! All those classic airliners and liveries combined with huge queues is a total pleasure to watch!
Aer Lingus Tristar oh my! I was born in 1997 so I never got to see them.
Forgot Aer Lingus had L1011s for a short time. Beautiful bird in beautiful green!
The world of yesteryear... I miss those old liveries and airliners of the 90's... L 1011's, DC-10's, 727's... couldn't get any better
Anyone who remembers Flight 93 that depart out of Newark and Flight 77 depart out of Dulles and Flight 11 and Flight 175 that both of them depart out of Boston
7:18 Bet anyone knew on the planes they were going to merge 13 years later. The nostalgia.😭
I wish I could go back in time and see this again
That 747 is still queen of the skies! 👍👍
Remember tons of Continental DC10s at Newark through the late 90s. I think the Concorde mishap hastened their retirement. Midway did not fly again after 9/11.
The Concorde accident had nothing to do with it. They were already slated to be retired and replaced by 777-200ER.

That noise was an eargasm . Nice vid. Thanks for posting.

Sportster20042001 remember Jim Allen?
Great video, Bill! Thank you for sharing! -Chasen
It used to be the Continental hub at the EWR airport and now’s the United hub.
continental before united slapped their name on plane lol good to see a old united rainbow livery even though it changed to the battlestar gray scheme
great stuff,thanks
aer lingus 1-1011? never knew they had one! pretty!
Amazing classic video documentary mate 👏 👏 👏 enjoyed
Man, when aircraft varieties ruled!
They did, see revised description for links.

The CO 757s are still flying. And most of the 767s and A310s are probably still flying either in developing countries or as converted freighters.
Also the United, Northwest,America West, and USair airbus a319/20.
United 757 that means flight 93 or other Flights
Outstanding Video 👍👍. Subscribed
Great footage! But what is that smoke at 4:06?
8:48 is my favorite plane in this montage
This footage begins at 1997-08-28T14:45-04:00
My hometown airport
Northwest, TWA, Continental, all gone...
Didn’t realize Western Pacific and America West came this far east.
Classic aviation :)

5:08 the EMB-120 I was a FA for Continental Express May 1997-August 1998 however was based in Cleveland. Wasn’t crazy about the 120
Ahhh, my ole stomping grounds. What no BAC 1-11s? We both know there was at least one based there. Maybe not in 97 though.
Great video!!
6:42 Ex-AA 727 in the background there?
I saw a continental DC-10 with a non-American Reg. Anyone know where that plane came from?
sigh, i wish American Airlines would do the same thing like America West, paint some airlines with livery's
PFT alive and well in 97.
7:38 i miss Kiwi so much
I wonder l-1011 are just as loud as 727 like a military jets?
No. 727s thta weren't upgraded to Advanced standard (i.e. without hushkits) were very loud. The L-1011 TriStar was a remarkably quiet plane.
@@mishibird FYI, “Advanced” didn’t mean ‘hushkitted’ - they were just as loud as the non-Adv aircraft

yep..some of the olden days were good!...its what an aircraft is suppose to do...make lots of noise..nothing like it!..thank you Mr hough
From the roof of the old admin building, now demolished.
The fact that the World Trade Center can be seen in the background
5:27 :(
i see so many airlines in this video at ewr i never seen b4 y did they stop coming to the brick city why?
Mergers -.-
wat was d names
They either went out of business or simply stopped going here... Same with the aircraft, except they reached their shelf life
911, mergers, and the economy finished off most of those airlines. Sad but true.
wat happen i seen the fire department and i seen smoke over by the part?
miss NWA in sky
Old Northwest Airlines
Oppc
Back before stupid RJ's were everywhere.
