What an amazing time for civic aviation. Pre 9/11. So many airlines that are gone today. So many types MD-11s 757s 727s. Old Douglas examples. This was the golden age of my time. I used to be a ramp agent at KPVD circa 1998. For AA we would service the F-100 and MD-80
Originally from Buffalo, NY I moved to NYC right out of college in June of 1992 @ the age of 21 (I would turn 22 that July) and for the first couple years usually took Greyhound if I wanted to go back home for a long weekend but did fly home for Christmas and usually flew out of LGA on USAir. In 1997 I got my first "grown up" job with a Buffalo based consumer electronics company as an account manager (later account executive) that required me to work from my apartment and not only regular trips back and forth btwn NYC & BUF but to other cities as well to meet with clients and potential clients. By 2000 I was flying out of all 3 NYC airports, USAir/LGA, Continental/EWR, and JetBlue/JFK. Always depending on which had the cheapest flights. JetBlue at that time was my primary airline. I mean, $50 each way and you could purchase your departing and return flights separately on top of DirecTV! Anyway, I had scheduled meetings with my bosses and clients from D.C. in Buffalo beginning at 10am on the morning of Tuesday September 11, 2001 and flew on a Continental 737 out of EWR Monday evening. My close friend and roommate who was also from Buffalo and happened to be there for a month (she worked on Broadway as a dresser and was between shows) had an early call on Tuesday September 11, 2001 for a new play she was hired as Wardrobe Supervisor on and flew from BUF to JFK on JetBlue around the same time I was leaving EWR. Needless to say my meetings on the 11th never happened, I woke up at 9, didn't turn the TV on until 9:30 & didn't turn my cell phone until about 9:50 so had no idea what was going on until about 9:40 am. I was scheduled to leave Buffalo to fly back to NYC that night and obviously didn't. In fact I wouldn't return to NYC until the following Sunday night, flying into EWR. No one other than those of us that lived through that experience will ever understand what it was like to fly out of an airport one day and fly back into the same airport 6 days later and not recognizing it. The world had completely changed in that short time and it took me a year to get over the what I know now as trauma. I continued to fly in and out of EWR for a few more years after that and realize now I probably flew in and out of EWR the most. LGA the least.
Dam... I remember back in 2012 days before united airlines merged with continental airlines, I saw a united airlines flight with the old livery. Now it just gives me memories of the old days..
I just wish they would’ve rebuilt them original. The new building is hideous to me. They were so iconic. A lot of people dislike look but it was just so iconic NYC
I don't think they would do another spotting planes on September 11 2001 i mean it would have caught the First Jet Slams The first Tower And It would Have caught Another Jet Crash The second Tower
Have they finished construction at “D”? because Liberty has been considered the worst airport in North America next to LaGuardia which has been under construction since de blasio takes over the office.🤨
Anytime I see Continental Airlines (add on at my home airport of EWR) I get a tear of joy and pretend, just for a quick moment, that it still exists today 🥹

Fantastic video. This brings back so many memories or airlines and aircraft long gone.
Such beautiful incredible filming ..loved this thanks so much love and god bless x
At least some of these jets are still with us…
Amazing Footage!!!
I suspect that in the background at minute 0:10 is United 93's b757 operating normally
6:00 here they are 😢

8:50 if it's a B777-222 it's actually assigned to this airport now in terminal C although Battleship paint is gone
I love looking at the twin towers in these old videos !! The New York skyline seems so empty without them. RIP to all that perished.
I just wish they would’ve rebuilt them original. The new building is hideous to me. They were so iconic. A lot of people dislike look but it was just so iconic NYC
A-310f for FedEx and also Jamaica was an A310
Nice buttter landing of a340 just like a330
Can you do the the plane spotting video on September 11, 2001?
😭 🙏

You can see the twin towers in the background on some of them 😔😔😔

Shame this wasn't properly deinterlaced with a bob filter to keep the original 60 fields high frame rate motion. TH-cam's deinterlacing is terrible.

I saw Newark Airport while we're heading to some special church event thing
