    In this video I do a very quick and simple brake pad change and caliper service. Even if you don't need new pads it's well worth servicing you calipers once a year at least.

    Never use a metal hammer on brakes like that it's a ammeter mistake you will crack or brake the calipers

      @motorcyclerescuer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends how hard you hit it. You can be overly rough with a mallet and gentle with a hammer.
      Never say never.

      robertspeed62 is right. If you love your your bike - don't do it.
      A rubber hammer would be better if necessary.

      As I said before, you can be gentle with a metal hammer and rough with a rubber one

    Thanks for the video, it seems that is a more complex process than simply change the pads. Can you list the products you used on the process? Thank you.

      Its mainly just the pads but I like to spray the brakes with brake cleaner aswell.
      If you were doing a full service it would include a piston clean and new fluid.

      I rarely have a bike with a screen. I'm normally on some sort of street fighter.
      But yes some screens are helpful

    Who the fcuk hits the calliper with a steel hammer? He also catches the fork leg with the bloody thing. If you must hit it use a soft faced hammer and don’t hit the fork leg !

      I wouldn't call it a hit I would call it a tap. And the answer to your question is me

    Hey. Nice vid. What year is your hornet? It looks like it’s in good shape. I have a 2000 hornet. Looks basically the same as yours but not as clean. Just bought new brake pads and will have a go at putting them in soon.

    • @motorcyclerescuer

      They are great bikes mate, you should be OK doing the pads although if the last service wasn't done well then some of the bolts can be stiff and even break.
      Let me know if you get stuck with anything.
      The hornet is long gone but I believe it was a 2000 ish one.
      Thanks

      motorcycle rescuer I got my hornet really cheap and have been doing it up. So far I’ve put new tyres, new rear shock and a new rear hugger on it. Brake pads next. It’s my first bike so I’m learning as I go.

      Brake cleaner is brake cleaner mate. Go onto Ebay and write in brake cleaner.
      You have 2 choices, ones that you pump out of a spray bottle or one that's in a can. I use both depending on what I'm doing.

    Sintered pads or not?

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly it dosnt matter to much. Sintered if you ride hard or do the odd track day otherwise whatever fits.
      Cheaper pads wear quicker so sometimes it's best to buy a better set that works better and last longer.

    It's the process people want to see, not the explanation of said process. Waste of time of watching just that on you tube
