    I liked your reviews BECAUSE they´re standing out from the mass of other product presentations that only call themselves ´reviews´. Insofar, well done. Only thing I would have added is how you mounted the ferro rod into the titanium cap and why it was wiggling.
    thanks for the work you did on this video, it´s appreciated.

  • @ssunfish

    I haven't carried a saw, had a small folding saw I just saw without looking for one, now it's gotten burned in a fire that started in the bed of my pick-up going down the street. I see your use of saw and I want a serious one, but very portable. A sheath saw with a fixed handle, not folding. I saw a saw with a T-shaped handle and so it's a small bit shorter overall length.

    • @frostys_bushcraft
      @frostys_bushcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bigger Silky saws are great, smaller ones bend easy and I'd rather ho with Bahco Laplander. Not sure about fixed saws as I never used them.

    A great looking knife and a great job of testing it. The only issue I have is the hollow handle could be a source of weakness over time and may fail unlike a full tang where it is a solid piece of steel from one end to the other. Now my question, how is the blade attached to the handle? That should have been mentioned in the review cause that is of some importance.

    • @frostys_bushcraft
      @frostys_bushcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks and sorry, I was talking about that but must've deleted it in editing. The tang is 2.6cm long if I'm not mistaken, glued and pressed in to the handle, also secured with a screw inside. Handle is hollow but ricasso area is full and has a pocket for the blade. They did a lot of testing and the blade broke before the handle did. They even recommend batonning with a finger guard acting as a wedge and batoning on the ricasso area, but I forgot to show that.

    Ruby is great (it's one of my go to touch up and finishing options because of the edge it gives) but it's a 3k stone. It's good for you h ups but if you ever need more than that it's not the best option. Good thing is it'll never really wear out so as long as you don't drop it, it'll last a lifetime (my 1x6 edge pro stone is 5 years old and it's still the same as when I bought it). I think a rod made from Venev diamond would have been cool but it would have to be a special order and probably cost a lot, even more than the 130 euro Ruby one.

    • @frostys_bushcraft

    Talking more about their small version, but. I think it's aimed more at ultralight hikers than survival bushcraft types. To me weight to performance ratio is everything grams become kilograms after 30 miles walking. There's not many knives on the market that compare, really. There's that speed goat knife and another Rainer in elmax that might compete.

    • @frostys_bushcraft
      @frostys_bushcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Different tools for different jobs I guess but I wanted to test the small one properly to see how it holds up to some abuse. Defenitely a great hiking option, weighs less than most folding knives and it's reliable, easy to clean, holds an edge and is actually comfy to use. This one, the UniTi, is also really light for it's size.

      They use the 3D-printed sheaths because it is really hard to come by leather or Kydex sheaths in larger quantities and because they have so many blade+handle options. I was hesitant at first too, but now I really love the sheath on my tiny with the ulticlip. I still sometimes use the leather sheath from my uniti bushcraft though

      UG TiNy I think it's a cool knive to have because it is small and light, but a bigger knive NEEDS weight to perform well as a chopper, in my opinion...

      As for the weight... yeah, but how much do you actually chop with a knife? I used this one together with Terava Skrama 240 and also WTG Kodiak knife and honestly, Kodiak is useless to me. Big, heavy and can't do any cutting with it. I'd rather bring a lighter knife and something like Silky BigBoy... same weight overall but a lot more options.

      @@felixmann7045 the Rambo comment is a pointless mate, not sure why you feel the need to attack me?
      Every year I have to make about 40-50 cubic meters of firewood depending on the winter, sawing and splitting. And I do it with an axe like any other normal person. But when I'm out camping I don't really want to carry a 2kg axe to make few hours worth of firewood.
