Your reviews are the BEST by far. You have guided more of my guitar purchases than any other TH-camr. Very honest and to the point. Thank you Tony and keep up the great work.
I have the genuine 60th anniversary silver Strat, and the 2014 Strat 60th anniversary model. There were Mexican and USA versions in 2014. I have to agree with Tony, a red Strat is a must for any players collection. Candy Apple Red is my favorite, but if like me you are a Shadows fan, then you also want a Fiesta Red one. The missmatch of the plastics is a strange choice, i would be changing the pickguard to white. Thanks for a great review Tony, enjoy playing your new Strat.
Thanks for this, I have one exactly the same. Another confusion is that these were produced in 2006 for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Fender company - 1946. The other 60th anniversary Strats were produced in 2014 for the 60th anniversary of the Strat itself - 1954.
I bought an olympic white one back in '06 (not the commemorative, was around $425 iirc), played it that way for a long time until I modded it into a super strat last year. I did get the exact specs from fender and they also upgraded from the previous gen with larger mass vibrato block. apparently there was a "cavity shielding" upgrade as well but when i opened it up, it was only on the underside of the pickguard. i guess that is better than nothing but i seemed to have more noise issues than most people. still have the standard tuners, with a locking string wrap it stays in tune like a boss, don't have it set up as hardtail but don't use the vibrato much either, keep it about the standard eighth inch off the body.
Hello, Do you know if you can easily (no new holes) replace the tuners on this model? I have the same 2006 version and I want to install fender locking tuners. Thank you.
I had a 60th gold strat with all gold hardware and gold metallic pickguard. Id like to know why mine didnt come with the 60th neck plate or the 60th emblem on the back of the headstock
I have one and swapped out the stock fender vintage noiseless. Not bad, but they can ne a bit touchy. Set them a lilte lower. Suggest to wire the bridge tone. Also, locking tuners are a must.
Yes, everyone should have a red Strat in their collection. It's a shame Fender doesn't offer many of them. My dream guitar has always been that Mark Knopfler red Strat which I'll never own :P
I have an HSS MIM 2006 according to the serial lookup, however every 2006 Strat I see is SSS. Do you if they made an HSS in the 2006 MIM? I’ve had to do a ton of work as the guitar was gifted to me, which is awesome. Mine doesn’t not have truss rod access from the head stock. I had to replace the pots and switch because the soldering looked like birthday cake and made a horrid noise when I plugged in. I sprayed the pick guard with satin black as I hate the white pick guard with the sunburst finish. I’m going to spray the body black when I spray my tele build, but was curious about the status of the HSS in 2006.
Thanks for that info. I found 1 online for a decent price, thinking it was a Real 60th ann' but the serial number didn't make sense. At least I know now. Still a really cool guitar but close to $1k Aussie money, I doubt I will buy it. I don't have a MX Strat, only Teles ×3 & a Red / Rosewood, 16 MX Mustang w P90s. Oh, I do have a MX Strat. A Jimmie Vaughan Signature Strat, w D Allen VooDoo Blues P'ups.
First, thanks for a great, concise review. One thing's missing for me...I have the white body and pick guard... how does the rosewood fretboard fit into the configuration? Thanks! ☮️🎸
Just bought this exact guitar In great condition for $400… seemed like such a great deal and I ordered it right after seeing your video. Great review on this, definitely got a new subscriber!
I prefer these to the Player series as I hate the 2 point bridge and 22 frets that the Players have. I’m not too fond of the ceramic pickups or the sealed machine heads, which wear in certain spots, on the old MIMS and from 2007 on the frets got bigger and they used a black 70s logo soon after. These are as close to the original design while the Player is more or less a MIM made USA standard that came out in 1987. I picked up a few old MIMs over the years and moved them on. Remember these still have rosewood boards and not Pau Ferro like the Player. Your guitar is crimson red isn’t it?

Thanks means a lot !!
That is a great sounding overdriven tone. The bridge pickup on that particular one is amazing.

Those perfectly white pup covers alsways look so cheap to me... It needs to be at least a bit off white. Just slightly.
does your strar have the micro tilt and staggered tuners?

Thank you for explaining this. I was so confused.
I admit I couldn’t work out the 60 th anniversary when they are 2006 made , but you explained it , it’s the anniversary of fender not the strat ☺️
I love Hipshot bridges. So comfortable to play.

Congrats! I still think these guitars are very nice value.
Excellent review as alway Tony...that dirty tone was freakin awesome!!!!

Amazing! I have the exact one, with a Rosewood fingerboard. It’s Chrome Red 2006.

Knopfler has a Pensa Suhr I believe. My ABSOLUTE Dream guitar....
What is body wood use? alder or ash?
I had a Candy apple read Mustang. DOes that count? lol

I have an HSS 2006 Sunburst Strat. Great guitar!
Cool Strat !! We gotta get a Pressley Custom on the show !! 🤘😊👍❤️🎸
That would be cool!
Enjoyed the review. Thanks Tony.
This is a very thorough review. It's definitely a solid tough guitar.
I play the exact one. For the money, it's a great guitar. 👍

I've loved her for years. 😃
Oh...And she's been around the world. Definitely a road dog.
Thank you.
Brilliant, you answered all my questions.
Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!

I'm not sure what you mean? Are you asking how old is Rosewood board would sound on this guitar?
Hey Tony, will this guitar become part of your collection? Enjoyed the vid.
Unfortunately not. It belongs to a friend…😔
I have this guitar, is it worth anymore money that it's a 60th anniversary?
Not really as it is not a special design just a commemorative year.
Thats a nice guitar!!
I think I need a red Strat
Just realized I NEED one too 😂
Found one for 250 .00 .. super nice guitar..

I am one of those morons that just leaves the tone on 10. lol
Tony caught me with a case of insomnia. lol first.

Your guitar is crimson red isn’t it?
I have the same guitar but I change 59/62 pickups, tex specials no for my taste...
2nd! Or maybe 7th?? Lol
Interestingly, Fender does not make a lefty handed strat in red, but they do offer Capri Orange in lefty. lol
I like that red jerry My stratocaster but I gave it away
7.25 fret out too easily. Presently have only one guitar with a radius under 12
Yo F-P I think if you play a 7.25 that’s setup perfectly you might really enjoy it🤘
@@pressleycaliforniacustoms9526 Could be true. I only had one 7.25 and I had set it up myself.
Thank you for a very good review. I'm looking for a decent #2 Strat as a backup for my 2006 Eric Johnson Signature model and this could be it.
That's not a 60th anniversary MIM
