I just picked up one dated early '44. Really nice pistol for a great price! The grip safety on mine was really strong. When I tore it down for cleaning I adjusted the sear spring, much like a 1911, and it made the safety much easier to squeeze. Thanks for another great video!!

The FN 1922 is like the Ortgies. A decent pistol with cool history, but it doesn't have the cache of a Luger or Walther

I think the most underappreciated thing in this video is that shirt. Thank you for all the great content. You were my first resource into the world of Milsurp.

This was one of the best videos out there on a complete history of the FN 1922. As you have pointed out, these small guns are full of history and are rarely discussed. Based on the Waffenamt markings you mentioned, I can determine that mine was most likely from 1941. Yes, I agree that the grip safety on these pistols is anything but desirable. Perhaps these guns would have been more successful had there never been this ergonomically annoying safety. I have also read many of these were issued to the Luftwaffe. Keep up the good work!

Excellent video! I just picked one of these up from my LGS and can’t wait to give it a few test shots. One notable thing about my example is it has a nickel finish which, from what I can gather, means it was done after the war or it’s an extremely rare example of guns sent to the motorcycle division of FN to be nickel plated from the factory. While I would bet my buttons the nickel plating was done post-war here in the states, it sure is neat to think this could be one of those factory nickel guns. It’s in the 118,xxx range of serial numbers if anyone can offer some clarification. Looking forward to more great content!

Mine was passed to me from my grandfather. I really love the thing i would bring it out hunting and on trips more often but im scared of putting ware or damage to the pistol. If i dated mine properly it should be a 1943 production.

Very nice presentation! Quite interesting and informative. It's been one of my favorites for years. I think they really are very under rated.

Good video. You have a good mix of the history of the prior models leading up to the Model 1922.

This is a neat little pistol. I have one, mine was also made under German occupation. It has several Waffenamt 140 and German eagles with swastikas. Mine has the black plastic/bakelite grips. But I don't know what year it was made, not sure how to date it.
The serial number is just above 77000, much lower than the pistol in this video.

I have two of these. Both German occupation, one with wood grips, the other black plastic. Great video and good information.

Cool pistol, I have a commercial .32 marked BahnPolizei US Zone marked on the right side of the slide. I don't know much on the history of these things, but supposedly you can swap a 32 barrel for a 380 and that's all that's needed to have a dual caliper pistol, sadly, I've never been able to find a 1922 .380 barrel for sale.

Well, used to be able to edit comments, who knows what nonsense TH-cam is up to these days, but that was supposed to be caliber and not caliper 🤣

Great video mate I particularly loved the close up look at it and size comparison was a amazing detail to it. Im not sure how would it react with the bluing and metal but white crayon is a go for me bec it stays and sticks in there for ever and could be removed rubbing it with three in one oil, but its definitely not gona do anyharm while application unlike chalk.

The grip safety is indeed a bit pesky compared to the 1910.

I bet that shoots super soft, love .32's. I have an occupation CZ27 that got "patina" on one side real bad so I am going to try the boil and convert method to save as much as I can. The opposite side is beautiful so it probably sat on foam or cardboard for decades and slowly corroded.
I hate to refinish a historic gun but it's bad enough that I might re-park the frame and rust blue the slide if I really have to. If it wasn't so bad, I'd never do that.

I’ve been thinking about getting one of these for a while, but I really can’t get over how ugly they are. Ended up getting a MAB model D, which is essentially the same thing but better looking

  • @1982asd
    @1982asd ปีที่แล้ว

A somewhat similar design from the French MAB Model D
I consider the MAB Model D pistol to be a particularly nice pistol
Of course, nothing beats the double action of the Walther PP or the double action and double magazine of the Browning Hi Power
This removable barrel is very outdated technology
