    I’ve got a 987s ... I went to Silverstone and one of the Porsche guys took me on a couple of laps with him driving.. it was unbelievable, I had no idea what the car was capable of until a proper driver drove it... What a car.. manual ..

    Just drove a 718 gt4 yesterday and I can’t believe a machine like this stays so planted on the road even when you try hard to break it loose, it’s like a magnet on the road no matter how tight the turn is, keep moving! Well done Porsche, I see why everyone needs one in their life

      Facts. The 718 is an amazing machine. Just got out of the mountains with about 20 911s and 718s. The 718s ate those roads up and never broke traction. And stayed completely flat.

      There’s no way Chris could deliver that Rally history piece as well as Clarkson did on the Grand Tour. No way.

    I really wanted to buy a Corvette and walked into not one, but three dealerships. In one of them I was quite literally shown a Camaro and then shown the door. On another I was allowed to look at a brochure, at the salesmans desk. I walked into a Porsche dealership with two weeks of beard, old jeans and a t-shirt and drove half a dozen cars. Bought one. It was so easy and the service has been great. GM just does not have the infrastructure to sell or service their awesome Corvette. Sad but true.

    Recently I was browsing around a Porsche dealership in a dreamstate where I saw 5 Caymans in 5 different colours. The 3 that stood out the most to me were the Sapphire Blue, Agate Grey and Rhodium Silver, with light Pebble Grey interiors.
    Out of those 3 it would be between the Sapphire Blue and Rhodium Silver which both show the Cayman's lines really well without being too in yer face, but they're way too expensive. A new, (almost fully loaded), Cayman is £65-£70K ($109-$117K.)
    Lovely looking car though, and if I was in the market for a small 2 seater sportscar it would be a very tough choice between the Cayman S and the Jaguar F Type Coupe, which is as equally gorgeous in the metal.

  • @capz3217
    @capz3217 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Honestly, I was never a big Porsche fan, but I rented a standard Boxster with manual transmission (mainly because it was the only sporty car to rent nearby) for a weekend and I my only complain was indeed the steering feel. It was precise and everything but somehow the steering in my good old 323i feels more alive. Yes, I would love to buy something more hardcore one day, but then I probably wouldn't want to take a car like an Elise on a long trip to the alps, where I had to use motorways and drive in bad weather conditions. So, as I favour coupés over convertibles, I really can't think of anything that would compare to a Cayman on the current market. Especially since the looks are just right.

      Justin Walters wow it's been a year since I posted on here! As my picture suggests I have gone with an Audi R8 v8 and may I add it is a fantastic car with a tubi exhaust (epic) and manual gear box. The f type quickly lost ground on its competition in my eyes for reasons you mentioned. I wanted something a bit more driver focused. I decided against the Cayman s as I really wanted the gts (gt4 would be nice :D) which was out of my price range. I also couldn't deny a nice big NA V8 before I possibly join the forced induction crew (997 turbo manual transmission).

    Loving this Cayman a lot, Porsche did a bang up job
    keep it up and the Cayman will drive the obsolete 911 extinct (Porsche is terrified of this reality but as long as the Cayman exists they know one day this reality will come to fruition),
    The Majority of Young and new generation buyers will not buy the 911 for its heritage or really care about its heritage or classic look, They will simply to buy the Porsche that looks and drives the best
    That car is the Cayman.

      @@stu4181 Not going to argue the point as a Boxster S owner but there is a market for the more GT oriented 911 and it does have a back seat to store a few more easy to grab essentials while touring or commuting. Maybe even a pup or two. I see a market for both cars and not a pissing match between them. Porsche never wanted these cars to compete with each other. They were kind enough to build them both for us to enjoy. I'm looking to get a Cayman S because I just like the way they look. But I love the top down experience in the Boxster. I think that is the hardest decision for me.

    • @stu4181

      GS Riders of Velocity Cycles. Yes re reading my comment it was a bit more flippant than my usual ones. I honestly believe Porsche has held the cayman/boxster back for years as it knows it’s the better sports car.
      The 911 ok is a better GT but surely there are better options for a GT car either a panamera so you have some useable rear seats or another manufacturer maybe an m5 if you can stomach the depreciation. ( a member of the car club I’m in reported getting a 6 month old m5 comp 3k miles on it for 60k which seems great value for that much car compared to a 911 c4 ?
      Understand the boxster vs cayman dilemma I had it recently myself, the ease of cleaning a hard top and the slightly sharper chassis won out for me.
      I have just come out of an original z4 though so had done the soft top thing recently. So That could be a factor....
      A friend taking me out through tunnels in a 981 GTS cayman got me into Porsche’s in the first place!

I went from a SLK350 to new elise to 2008 TTS and now the mini. The mini in most respects is the better car. cheap to run, practical, and relatively fast. I dont think I would have got the Porsche anyway. Its a car for £100k per year plus salary poseurs. A gorgeous looking car. That doesnt warrant its price tag. @@milchomarkov8158 Very true. But one can restore the lost horses Porsche stole from the 981 s engine. For A$1900 I remapped the ecu to 364hp, 420Nm 0-100km /h in 3.89sec.... hair trigger throttle response which pulls like the clappers from 3500rpm to redline. I now drive a beast of a Cayman s with the glorious NA engine wail. Best mod Porsche never offered! All with stock air filter and exhaust manifolds.

    I have to say your right.. I drove my 350Z HR to Sonoma race way to drive the new Cayman and Cayman S on the track (as well as some 911's) and I have to say, I left amazed how well the Cayman S handled and performed. It drives like it's nailed down in the corners. Anyone who drove the new Cayman S would agree that it's an amazing car. Even though I love my Z, the Porsche felt a step above, in every way..

      Haha yea, still struggling. ATM it leans towards a BMW M2 tho.

    • @Maniacility
      @Maniacility 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel as though the M2's interior is lacking considering it's a 2016 car. The M3 and Cayman's interiors are far nicer. I would say though that everybody I've spoken to that has an M2, says it's unbelievable and more fun than the M3!

    My dad bought one two years used with 10k miles for $50k. With a PDK it's as accelerative and quick through corners as you could possibly want. It's a bargain for the performance and the enjoyment

    How close is the (1st gen) 986 Boxster's driving experience/feel/handling to this new Cayman? Because there is this slight chance that I can afford one soon... just what percentage of the sharpness, responsiveness and balance of this cayman might I get in the original boxster?
