Im 365 lbs, dont work out, but when I do a push up, which I can, I injure myself for 1-2 weeks. I feel like my chest/pecs are being cleaved in half at the sternum, and my back / shoulders are being cleaved in half at the traps/spine. I can't seem to find a position where I don't injure my chest or traps.
Each time I bend my elbow ...it feel like I'm bout to get a dislocation...shii hurts like hell but I don't wanna stop working out ...I'm in the best shape of my life
Question: I'm 65 and for the past 20 years have been inactive in exercising my upper body, even though I run 25 miles a week. So, I decided to start doing pushups, after I tried and found I could barely do one lol.. after a couple days I could do ten and now after a month later doing 75 a day, 25, morning, 25 noon and 25 evening and my old pecs are coming back! I have about ten years of martial arts behind me 30 years ago, we use to weight train, do knuckle and fingertip pushups all the time, so this past month I've been reliving my past doing knuckle, flat, wide pushups and the other day I must of torn something in my left pectoral and the next day I forced myself to get back at it and I hurt myself more lol, it hurt coughing and nearly everything I did, so I talked with my Chiropractor friend and he said take a month off doing anymore pushups, which didn't make my newly pumped chest happy lol! Well, a week later I feel fine and I want to get back to my regime and I don't want to wait another 3 weeks, am I being stupid!?? If you read his long post, thanks!
A found shoulder pain to be relieved when you do your push ups while trying to engage your chest muscles which involves ensuring that you press with your elbows facing backwards. And facing forward helps with neck pain.
Great video! My push-up pain is in my upper left arm at the very bottom of my lateral deltoid. It also hurts during incline presses. Haven't seen any videos on this yet.
I appreciate addressing how to avoid pain. But I wish you'd talk about how to fix it as you did with wrist extension. E.g. with shoulder pain placing elbows closer to your body and shifting your weight towards your legs is good, but doing a few push ups with more weight on the shoulders will strengthen them fixing the issue over time.
Dr I do push ups in sets like I do max 12 in one set and do 4 or sometime 5 sets. But I do not have a warm up session before that set.I just perform them randomly. can this cause issue ?
I started doing burpees and got the same pain at the middle of my back, trying to modify my technique but it's not very helpful 🤷 If u got any suggestions please share in comments
@E3Rehab i have 4 willpower training days that i do each day 1150 proper pushups with only chest to the ground straight back,plus the 100 one arm pushups. And my back feels like its broken,im recovering for 24 hours and doing it again,my question is do one arm pushups affect the spine allot?
@@DunkDuncan obviously,it is possible to do 1250 pushups in one day with proper form,it just takes 1-2 years of progress and slowly increasing your daily pushups amount over time,you just need to be diciplined and embrace the grind.
I’ve had the lower back pain when I do push ups ive had it for like 3 days now and I watched a ton of videos but none of them worked to keep my hips up and my back I tried putting something on my back like a 3 kg dumbell it helped but it still aches any more advise ?

When I do two to three pushups, the lower back head hurts like crazy and then I have a bad headache throughout the day, can you suggest something

Warning about using bars or handles, it can make the palms of your hand feel itchy and hurt for awhile.

Obviously if you can make 1150 push ups you're not doing it well...
