    Bro, crazy good build vlogs, high quality work!
    On the final steps of sourcing out parts for a 617 swap myself, using your channel as a solid reference for the rebuild/upgrades, Thanks 👍🏼

    The information that you used for your conversion, is that information that you would be willing to share and where you got your parts I have a line on a 5 cylinder Mercedes turbo diesel engine and I am wanting to do the conversion. I currently have the 4.0 stroked to a 4.7 and am just so tired of the fuel mileage, because I drive like an old woman and no longer do heavy wheeling. I have a 2000 wrangler that I have had for 21 years and am wanting a diesel engine, but don't want to convert to a dana 60 front for the weight of the 4bt conversion. I machine and fabricate most of what I need right now, so motor mounts and clutch linkage and throttle linkage are no issues and I do my own wiring, so glow plugs and pump kill are no issues. All the other adapters and positioning of the engine are the issues with me. I have an all aluminum 3 row radiator, so no issues. Anyway, will you be willing to share information. If no, do you sell the information and how long does the conversion take once all parts are purchased and assembled. Great video.

    Very high quality. I am looking into doing the same thing to my 2000 tj. Any advice? And how did you do the fuel system first time around?

    So depending on the year of the TJ I believe the 4.0 mounting of the engine is in the same spot as a WJ 4.0. I have a 2003 WJ I would love to swap in a OM617 or a 606. What did you do for mounts ?

    • @robertsfabworks6579
      @robertsfabworks6579  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I made my own “shelves” off the frame and arms off the engine block and used Anchor 2993 engine mounts, I’ll try to show them a little better in a video when I pull the engine out in a few months.

    another question. in speaking with an awesome mechanic/4x4 jeep guy, he told me the om617 isnt a great choice due to lack of torque. do you think you should have gone with another diesel like the 4bt or is the merc good in the rocks?

    • @robertsfabworks6579
      @robertsfabworks6579  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no complaints in the rocks, but I have a rubicon 4:1 t-case. if you’re geared correctly, or slightly deeper than what’s needed for a stock jeep drivetrain, it should do just fine in the rocks.

      @@robertsfabworks6579 i have a 4:1 dana 300 and 6.34 granny trans. 116:1 over all crawl ratio if i gear all the way down (theres always granny/high or 1st/low before we hit that magical ultra low/low). ive just been told its the lack of off hand torque when needed.
      i guess we will see when its together.

      Some flat pads of 1/4” off the frame with gussets, Anchor 2993 mounts, and some 2x2x1/4 wall rectangle tube arms off the engine. I used 1/4 for the engine side plates as well.
