Own a 718 GT4 and the only thing I've done is replace the over axle pipes. I'm in the US through where it's legal. Tip on testing the exhaust note: If you have PDK press both shifters down to place the car in neutral, then apply the gas. The valves will open below the 4K rpms level. I'm not sure how that would work for the manual (I believe if the car is rolling in neutral you can test the sound below 4K then). I plan to install a controller as I unplugged my valves (Simple to do from rear of car by unplugging the vacuum lines attached to the valves). They are stiff and can actually just dangle. I found this to have incredible sound, but at times too loud in certain situations to leave them permanently open. It has all of the pops and crackles in this mode. The stock exhaust is perfect with just the over axle pipe replacement if you're in the US. I know some of us like to go extreme and that's OK too :).
Question on the valve controller, if I have the exhaust button pressed on in the cabin, so the exhaust light is on, if I then press the no. 1 button on the key fob, does that override the PSE button and keep the flaps open ? Or do I need to switch the PSE button off and then press no. 1 button on the key fob to enable the flaps permanently open ?
i have these mod on my Spyder , it's WAY better BUT I think it's still missing something , this car deserve a better sound ; JCR exhaust seems to be the perfect balance , will be my next mod
The valves close after 1k revs and reopen again after 4k when the exhaust button is pressed on the console. Part of the new regulations/ emissions, which means you have to drive at above 4k to have the valves open. (if you don’t have the valve controller / or unplug valves)
I will be doing that to my Spyder too. I am half way through the break in period and can rev only to 4,000 rpm. Just when it starts to sound good at 4,000 I have to let up. Driving me nuts!
Would this void warranty at all? If not it’s a great mod ! As the 718 does need abit more sound 👌🏻but you don’t want any moaning if it goes in for warranty work :)
The GT4 diverter valves in the exhaust have a mind of their own they open and close all the time they're really horrible I wish The exhaust button was more realistic close when I want clothes open when I want open

Button 1 just puts the car back into stock form as if you didn’t have a controller fitted

What about the Porsche Approved Warranty? Can the mod be easily „undone“ before inspection or maintenance at Porsche dealerships?
You would just remove it worst case. But you can turn it back to stock with the 2 button.

Is this easily l reversible if later you wanted to upgrade to a aftermarket exhaust?
It plugs into the wiring that controls the valves. So it doesn’t interfere with whichever exhausts you have on the car

Still sounds rubbish compared to the 981, I can't believe how much louder the 981 is
