- Hello.
The 400 to 500cc in India is the hottest in India. every manufacturer wants to be in this segment and is planning to carve out a niche in this gast growing and competitive segment.
And till now, one of the oldest performance motorcycle name was missing. Fortunately, Bajaj saw this and jave come up with the all new Pulsar 400Z.
I got a change to rode this motorcycle and here is what I feel about it. Cheers!

Literally every negative of this bike can be countered with "But it's 1.8 lakhs ex-showroom..."
What is negative except being old design??? 😂
👍
What exactly are the negatives that you mention of?
How to counter, for many people if this is going to be "One Bike For All Purposes" Spending too much to counter Negatives is counter productive.
It's speed: CC ratio
I just booked mine and saw this, got the reassurance that I made the right choice
👍
delivery kab hai?
i hope he is right about the tuning part. I have always felt that power delivery in dominar dull and boring
Someone get this engine on an Avenger already. Will take it to the next level as a cruiser.
Exactly
🫡
Woah...nice!
May be on cards
Day 2200 of waiting for Avenger 400cc from Bajaj.
The silent background of the location, attracted me most. And yes pulsar is middle class mans perfect companion. Bajaj bringing smile on men for years.
👍
After a long wait, nice to see this. Clears the mind from all unnecessary doubts put be others with wrong comparing. Hopefully all the 150 to 200 cc segment guys get benefitted by this machine., as they don't need to throw a lot of money to get so called fancy stuff VERY COSTLY TO MAINTAIN type bikes. Too good to hear from you as the traditional confusion of INTELLECT VS HEART is QUITENED & COMFORTED. THANK YOU SIE BOSKY.
Could they have done at least one of them as twin cylinder (may be Dominar), who knows.
👍
Somewhere I feel that Pulsar 400 is like that elder brother who sacrificed himself to protect the little one Duke 390 from the chappris. The D390 is higher of a proposition while this is easy on the pockets.
ooohhh i like that train of thought. Dukes are fantastic machines whose image has been ruined only by the chappris who ride them, this bike is somewhat going to change that segment.
🙏
@@Ninad-mw6jpmaybe that's what ktm wanted
Ha.. ha...well said...if you are riding a Duke, you are automatically a chapri until proven otherwise....i just heard all the 390s waiting in showrooms across India perform a collective sigh....
Watch this argument fall to bits when we realise that chappris got way too much cash laying around and it's us normies who have to settle for the pulsar 😂
Bosky, you are the boss. This is the most brutally honest and practical review I have seen in the past 3 days.
🙏
Thanks for the video sir. Even though I'll not buy a Pulsar since the engines don't really vibe with me, NS400 is a really really good value for money and an excellent bike IMO.
This will sell like hot cakes. Kudos to Bajaj team.
👍
its is laughable to think of Bajaj pulsar NS division to be just a small team.
By no means such a bike is possible without the manufacturing prowess to mass product a bike this big at a price that low.
Bajaj has outsized almost all Indian Motorcycle Brands, and has grown too big.
Now people would skip buying chinese bikes abroad.
Brands like CFmoto are in big trouble now.
Always grateful for your help in clearing up doubts, thank you.
My pleasure!
Sir you are the best person who knows about bike.I really admire you.
🙏
Even I too feel so from initial days itself.
Reflecting on the last two decades, Bajaj's introduction of the iconic Pulsar truly revolutionized the Indian market, setting a standard for excellence that continues to resonate today. As consumer preferences evolve, we've observed a significant shift towards products that prioritize customer-centricity. It's fascinating to witness how discerning buyers are increasingly valuing technological innovation and are willing to invest more in products that cater to their specific needs.
Despite efforts to lower prices, consumers demonstrate a remarkable level of sophistication in their purchasing decisions, meticulously researching every detail before making a commitment. This underscores the importance of not only competitive pricing but also the value proposition and technological advancements that brands offer.
Looking ahead, it's clear that understanding and adapting to these evolving consumer dynamics will be crucial for sustained success in the market.
🙏
@@bigbearbangalore Honestly what parents promise their son, "Ah, the classic '90% or Pulsar' parental deal. It's like they're saying, 'Son, aim for the stars, but we'll settle for anything above 90... and a Pulsar.'"
very nice to have your free and frank review on the NS400Z, yes super value for money...considering this for my sport bike purchase.
👍
The best review ever for a bike.. You have revealed everything regarding it.. Thank you so much. By the way, the location where you recorded the video is quite pleasant and peaceful.
Many thanks.
Review I was waiting for.
🙏
Best review ever for this bike.... thank you so much sir ..i 'll bye this...bike...it is perfect bike for a office going family person like me...who want a powerful bike ...but in a budget...and it is also cheap to maintain
Good choice. Best wishes.
Realistic review, thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Congratulations for your FIRST PULSAR RIDE..
Thank you so much.
Was waiting for your review sir thanks!❤
🙏
Such a fair review!! I love the design. NS 200 was a good looking bike and this one looks like a bigger brother. Also, its slim for its 400cc which I would say makes it more appealing. The best part is the light weight, and seemingly better tuning in this NS400 than the Dominar. This is what Indian automotive brands should be doing all the time. Killer product at the right price.
The blue rectangular LCD is an eye-sore though! I wish it had a gray background. Sticks out like a sore thumb.
👍
yes, lately Bajaj is killing it with their+Triumph+Ktm offerings!
Eagerly waiting for Thruxton400 :D
👍
Excellent video sirji, I will test ride it for sure
Please do.
the best review has arrived❤
🙏
Thanks for setting the context sir. Need of the hour. Makes perfect sense..
👍
Great review as always. Wanted to know what is the reason for having 140/70-17 tires where as 150/60-17 has become the norm for this class of motorcycles? Is it a limitation of the swingarm/wheel? Can it be upsized to 150/60-17 considering the better variety and availability of tires in that size?
140 is adequate. Bigger tyres make handling sluggish.
@@bigbearbangaloreabsolutely💯
Hey bosky ,
Even I bought a scrambler 400x after seeing your review and taking a test drive.
It's really good and thank you for your suggestion.
I have one doubt that is I'm not able to go above 6500 RPM. my bike completed only 250km ,will this get changed post first service? Or should I go to showroom for this ?
May be it'll open up post 1st service.
Great review sir, after seen your review, i am sure to make jump from my 15 years old pulsar 150dtsi to this VFM bike. Thank you.
Best of luck. 👍
I always watch your channel video..❤❤🎉
🙏
Thank for your review and also I need your suggestion bro
I am planning to upgrade my motorcycle at present I am using Pulsar RS BS3, whether I can go with 250N or 400Z ?
400Z would be my suggestion if the 25 - 28 kmpl fuel economy is acceptable.
Keep your bs3 bike bro .. don't sell .. Njoy both
@4:10 I care if it's a Bajaj, I love Bajaj ❤. My first motorcycle was a 2009 Pulsar 220 Fi which is still with me back home, I broke my bones riding it🤫. I ride the new Hayabusa now, but I had way more fun on the 220 than the Busa. It probably has more to do with the age/maturity at which I rode these machines 😅
👍
Vefy good review , how about touring like dominor , is it comfortable for long touring with pillion ?
Yes one can tour on this. Doubles, the Dominar may be more comfy.
As always straight to the point review, no bs ,no hyping, no false claims ..seedhi baat no bakwaas 😎😎
🙏
You look even prettier with the iPhone setup. GoPro shots also looked nice
🙏
Thank you Sir. Can you correlate the engine rpm, gear position and speed for a novice to make an assessment on whether vibes or buzziness is an issue for him if he chose the 400z?
Don't recall this correlation figures.
Feels like the fit-finish and build quality has gotten really better.. could be from the inputs from making the Triumph 400 twins..
👍
Very nicely done sir. Explains and clears all misgivings. I think I am the first person to book this bike in Pune and is madly awaiting delivery. Any news when will the delivery start... Can't wait for this Grey color!!!!
Thanks.
Congrats.
Thanks, did you hear anything about the delivery of bike from Bajaj?
first week june
Anna can i know about that specs/glasses you are wearing.
From where can i buy it from, and which model it is.
Looks like that suits for bike rides very well and covering stylish aspect also
Oakley Jawbreaker Photochromic
What could be some custom modifications can be done, since the chassis is same as dominar/ns200? Can we add touring gears, change the entire headlamp unit to a different one?
I think it's possible.
Is that a Revit Air Wave 4 riding jacket you are wearing? Care to share how is the ventilation for current Bangalore weather? Thank you
Yes it is and it's well ventilated.
It's a bargain.....and design is quite Good. I would certainly buy one.
👍
Amazing review!
Thanks!
No review or first Impression on Mavrick 440 yet!. Can we get any update on this? Would really love to see your views on this.
Haven't had a chance yet.
@@bigbearbangalore oh no..
@@bigbearbangalore don't bother after this one😁
Such a sensible review 😍

@bigbearbangalore Bhai, ns 400z ka engine ka rave limiter kitna rpm tak jati hayn? 11,000 rpm hit karti hayn or 10,000 rpm tak hi jati hayn please batao bhai?
10,500 I think
❤️
Thanks Bosky for this review. At this price this 400 cc Pulser is going to garner maximum market share in this segment
👍
Did you recorded the riding video at the end from phone with mount?
Action camera
Sir, place where you've shot this video!? And a great review sir
Chakan.
Thanks.
Sir.. whats your opinion on Mavrick.. can we just refer to HD x440 video for that?
Haven't seen it yet.
so much of confusion whether to take this or speed 400. could you please suggest on this. And the difference of 60k is not the considerable criteria only the performance and quality...
NS400 is a bigger and more comfortable motorcycle
@@bigbearbangalore Which one is bigger scrambler 400x or this pulsar?
4:04 I was exactly the same when I made decision to purchase Dominar 400 over other bikes on same segment interms of price....but I regret now not because of the bike but the quality issues that it brings along with it and the service that we get....Let's see how it will be in terms and build quality.
👍
Could u explain a more in details plz. Like what exact issues and what kind of service?
@@JDAngler
1. Paint quality paint on Engine started to peal within 1.5 years, when checked with service guy he says it is common on these bikes.
2. Engine Started making weird Noises when enquired service guys says its common on DOHC setup and they are not concerned about checking it.
3. Rear shocks are like dead after somedays you wont get much feedback from them.
4. Paint quality is worst also in the other part of bike like Alloy wheels.
But the problem is Service center Guys whatever we report they simply says it is like that. I had to fight for more than 1month to replace parts on warranty for which they placed order but not yet replaced.
I found same issues on my other friends bike
@@umesha6126 Thanks for sharing buddy and it's really sad to know that your facing these issues. You should have sent an email to the highest levels and they would've definitely got it sorted at the earliest. Seems like the service center your dealing with is the problem. I'm so damn interested in trading my cbr250r for the ns400z but after listening to you I'm in two minds now. (Btw before buying my pre owned cbr bs3 I also had a pulsar rs 200 bs3 for 3 years and never had any issues whatsoever but I also wanted a cbr hence the change)
@@JDAngler Yeah only after escalating they agreed to change but it's again they got so many complaint they started to ignore at lower level is what I believe
Which is your pick in between Mavrick 440 & NS 400Z .........& why.........
Haven't tried the Maverik yet
@@bigbearbangalore take your sweet time I'm waiting
I have Dominar 400 2024 variant , and yes it has also buzziness arround 3000 to 4500 rpm , specially in 2nd and 3rd gear and from 4 to 6 the in every rpm band its buttery smooth.
👍
Some reviews say it's not aggressive enough for a 400cc bike and the throttle feels sluggish when compared to duke 390 (2nd gen) can you tell something about that.
I've shared what I think. 🙏
That Pulsar price bomb was so big it felt similar to the initial Jio Data plans 😂.
Like I am not a pulsar fan boy but feel like definitely buying this bike soon in future.
Looks are subjective and I am not much fan of its current looks, but still looks decent.
Like I was jumping between Hero Karizma XMR, Honda Cb300F, Hero Extreme 160 4v, and what not. And just out of nowhere, Bajaj drops this nuke of the price 🤩
👍
It’s a Flagship Pulsar.. they should have done more changes in terms of design.. the side profile is same as 200.. A opportunity missed by Bajaj
No. That will come in a new avatar and will be named as NS400 instead of NS400z
Yes they are launching a adventure tourer version in next financial year
Competitive pricing was top priority.
@@acchu_Azhar is there any source?
@bigbearbangalore : Is that the Oakley Jawbreaker you are wearing? If yes, is it worth the price tag?
Yes. Don't recall the price. I got it from @opticnestbangalore
@@bigbearbangalore Thank you Chief! I will check out the place.
Please clarify- When You said NS400Z engine is from previous gen KTM 390/ Dominar (40 ps version), it means the 2nd gen Duke 390 that was completely updated/redesigned from 2017/2018 onwards?
This is the 373cc KTM Duke engine in a different state of tune and same as in the current Dominar.
@@bigbearbangalore okay, but when You said previous gen Duke 390, You are referring to 2017 onwards updated Duke 390?

Very nice review, it shows your experience sir 🙂
Thanks a ton.
I have a 5-year-old but only fz25 12K km on odo, will it be wise and worth updating it by ns 400?
Test ride to know more
Bajaj has made the NS200, Dominar and now this NS400 based on Duke engines. THey could ideally make an ADV based on this engine and kind of differentiate from the 390 adv like they have done with the NS and Duke.
I owned the 3rd all black Pulsar 180 (black engine, black alloys) in Bangalore and I also owned the 1st gen NS200. Both lovely bikes.
👍
I'm not sure whether they're available in India but please test the Honda CL300 and/or 500 scramblers. I'd love to see that.
Not available
Did you think of scrambler 400x while riding this…. As they may have used some part or tech from it…
None that I noticed

Great video ! Any idea about the faired version ??
Thanks. No idea.
If this is your take on this Pulsar, it would be really interesting to know your take on the Hero Maverick, how come you guys totally omitted that bike from your reviews.
It's another very value proposition bike with great agility and handling with the 440 engine. I think it's better than the Harley. Please review that bike.
Will do when possible. Thanks.
Cool video...😊

Pulsar for sure conveys a decent image of the rider compared to ktm

How's the low end torque and heating tho, to ride around in traffic?
Normal heat throw for a 400cc. Torque is good enough for low speed riding.

Haven't ridden it yet
I booked himlayan 450 going to cancel bcz of ns 400 and im 6.1 height confused too...take which one is better

Will check on this possibility
Hello Boski / CK !
At the onset I just happened to chance upon your channel and truly it's pretty intricate and brilliant just like Shumi and Karthikeyan.
I Love your content absolutely fantastic please keep them coming.
I've two questions if I may . Between the Hunter 350 and the Mods you recommended in one of your videos and the NS400 Z, Which would you recommend to purchase for both city and occasional long rides/touring ?
Also, Would you say that the seating and handle bar position is perfect and comfortable for people having back problems but is looking for something to zip around and not sluggish both in the city traffic and long rides.
The second question is , Does your workshop only specialise in servicing Enfield or would you also do an occasional pulsar as well considering if I were to pick up a Ns 400 , The reason being I couldn't find any great service centres here in Bangalore.
Do revert with your expert opinions.
Thank you in Advance.
Thanks for the kind words.
They 2 are quite different and depends on which demeanour the rider has more affinity to. Personal choice. If in an unlikely situation where I had to choose between the two, I'll pick the 400Z.
At the moment we work only on the Enfield at our workshop.
Cool goggles bro!
🙏
One thing for sure ,engine smoothness what we get in japanese engine, can't get in Indian brands...u get all feature but the riding pleasure u won't get...still good bike for those who want raw power don't want engine refinement with all feature...

How I wish Bajaj brings this engine on a cruiser bike segment. Now, even Hero has got a short stroke engine in their cruiser cum sports tourer bike Mavrick.
