At first i wanted to explain away the shaving as maybe, he's paranoid about a gas attack and wants to make sure his mask seals correctly if he had to put one on. But that's overly complicated and i was reading too far into it. Then i reconsidered, and it's probably some kind of stress relief or nervous tick.... maybe. lol
