    Being a Scrooge, I use a white ceramic dinner plate and a white ceramic egg plate from the dollar store. They work for me. I guess they are someone else's art. Somebody had to make them! Lol!

    I bought a round ceramic plate at Wal-Mart for less than $2 and also a ceramic butter dish. The bottom of the butter dish makes a perfect travel pallet and the top holds my snacks. Very cheap.

    I have a handmade pottery water cups and pallet from Sylvan Clayworks in Nashville, TN. The potter is a good friend of my daughter's and I have watched her graduate from college to start a pottery business that is now very successful. It makes me happy to be able to support her and to use her handiwork to create my own art!

    I recently made my own palette from air dry clay and then painted and sealed it. So far, so good…but I am certain ceramic ones would be the best option! I made mine in the shape of a leaf and then made my wells between the veining on the leaf. 🍂

      I don't know about air dry clay, but I thought they are mainly for making decorative things that are not in frequent contact with water?

      Rebekah, good on you! I think if you've painted and sealed it, it will be great. It sounds really pretty.

      @@barefacedquestions The paint and non water based sealer I used seems to do the trick. I have only been using it about a month now, so maybe my “review” is too soon, but so far, so good.

      @@barefacedquestions Many air dry clays shouldn’t come into contact with water unless it’s like cold porcelain type clays BUT if you seal it in Resin, it would create a thick “plastic” coating on the clay which will make the palette waterproof!! I’m not sure what OP used but if it’s been a month and it’s fine, it should be fine for a while.

    Very nice! Fun, too! I am a silk painter and I use ceramic palettes because the silk dyes I use stain the plastic ones. I LOVE my porcelain palettes! I have various palettes for various projects. I have a palette for my skintones, a separate palette for my Great Blue Herons, a palette for my men's silk ties (I actually use a silk paint on those, but I'm so used to the porcelain palettes so I just go with it, lol!) I never thought to use them as art pieces themselves.
    Good luck with your book, your 2 boys and the top secret very special future project!
    God Bless 😃

    I loved this! I ordered the last palette you showed, the one Pottery by Eleni just yesterday. I saw you use it on a previous video and I fell in love with it. I decided to buy it for myself as a birthday gift. So much fun to see all of yours. I feel like I'm a collector of art supplies, including palettes, and I love the dish holder too. I'm going to have to look for that.

    I use the Jackson 32 well ceramic palette and also his ceramic butchers' tray. The former has a depth of 29cm and the latter a depth of 26cm. This means you can get both of them into a sink and just run a tap over them to get them clean. The Quiller ceramic palette (which is three times the price of the Jackson palette) is 33cm square and you'd have to clean it in your bath!.

    I've been looking for one or at least a cool template for creating my own (without a kiln), and super love the one at 2:47 with the 5:07 being runner up. They are great for the minimalist palette and yet have sufficient room for mixing ... and they look good on camera! You've got great taste, Emma 😄😄

      If you don't mind sharing, how long is it from the time you take pottery class to the time you're able to make a palette? I've been thinking about taking pottery classes since I had my first ceramic palette and admired how amazing the material is.

    • @kellyh4344
      @kellyh4344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@barefacedquestions It honestly depends on how comfortable you are with the clay. I had previously used air dry clay alot so I made my first few palettes in the 2nd class. In terms of how long it takes to make the palette it depends on the class you are in it roughly took 3 -4 weeks to have a finished palette

    Oh I just ordered a small ceramic palette on Amazon 🤦🏻‍♀️... love the idea of supporting artists on Etsy... didn’t think of it. Question:.. are they less likely to bead? I wanted one because they wash clean.

    • @Dedaskitchen
      @Dedaskitchen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they are less likely to bleed. In fact, that is one of the main reasons to get the porcelain palette. Also, they don’t stain like the plastic. Once you start using them, you won’t want to go back to the plastic.

    • @barefacedquestions
      @barefacedquestions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My first palette is a cheap ceramic one, so I couldn't understand the beading everyone was talking about until I tried a plastic palette.

    I bought a ceramic pallet but it is in the round shape of a plastic pallet with wells and a small space in the middle for mixing. I wish I had gotten a different style and keep looking at them, but i keep telling myself I don't need another pallet, maybe I do....... 😂 I am already addicted to buying other pallets, I think I need help...... Why to use ceramic? Is there any difference from ceramic, plastic or glass?

    • @barefacedquestions
      @barefacedquestions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought ceramic palettes are just nice things to have until I try one. I like that the colors appear true, there's no beading and most importantly it doesn't stain. It is not a deal-breaker, but I'm not going to use any other materials if I paint indoor.
