    All over Jamaica you'll find these kind of houses, not just rich, upscale neighborhoods. They are in everyone of the 14 parishes. Other places of interest in Montego Bay, where there are huge, magnificent homes are Westgate Hills, Unity Hall, Spring Farm, Bogue Heights, Reading Heights, Greenwood, Coral Gardens, Freeport, Mango Walk.

    Hi Dee, I am so glad that you are showing the other side of Jamaica in this blog. Many are quick to tell you about the dark side of the country but nothing of it’s beauty-kind of what they’re doing to Africa. I live here in American, and I can tell you there are places here that look like a shanty town! Thank you.

    • @TheDella000
      @TheDella000 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Absolutely. I’ve been to every state and there’re too many shantytown looking neighborhoods. Plus, the ones that don’t look like shantytowns, the construction of the homes are of %99 flimsy looking pieces of boards, covered with Sheetrock/drywall. I have seen trees fallen on homes in America and completely destroyed them. These homes you are looking at here in Jamaica are well constructed, concrete homes of the highest standards.

      For some strange reason most of these youtubers expecialy the black ones seems to be very fascinated with going into ghettos and dangerous areas when they visit Jamaica, even places most Jamaicans don't even venture. I am not saying they shouldn't show it, but atlase show the entire island, there are so many videos about downtown Kingston only, and not even the entire downtown, just a specific part they showing, so it creates misconception by viewers.

    • @cadizking8161
      @cadizking8161 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@davidscott3726yep, they don't even take the time to check out the waterfront downtown, because stuff like that probably won't spark a conversation in the comment section, or they might not get enough clicks. So stuff like"dangerous area in Kingston " will get more clicks, but in the long run they area continuing the stereotypes of black people that we all live in violent, dirty and unsafe places.

    @Deemwango I enjoyed this video of Jamaica. I am glad you took the risk of visiting downtown Jamaica. It is a real buzz. It was nice seeing people at business, women and men. I am also very happy that you get some real authentic food. I hope that despite the tradegy you saw there, you will go back to have breakfast at Michael business. I am really glad that you mingled with the decendants of your ancestors who were forced into slavery and exiled in Jamaica. I am happy that you felt their love. I am also happy that your vibes were also in sync with theirs. I see that you have also learnt a lot about the African Jamaican men. . .they cook. I liked that aspect of the culture came out; but you saw it in your brother's video. Bushman was the cook. I truly loved the country area that Marwa showed. I loved the hills, river, and valleys, with the large expanse of land covered by trees. . .trees of all type. I also lived the abundance of natural grown food as well as the vast variety if fruits. Downtown Kingston is beautiful it is busy, and clean. I am also glad that you took the time to visit where the "rich live" Ironshore. It shows a divergent perspective. I am told that the resident there could be returning African Jamaican who resided outside Jamaica and has gone back home to retirement.
    Try and visit Michael restaurant for breakfast. You will enjoy their ackee and saltfish with dumplings and tea and or porridge. Prepared true African style. NB our African ancestors taught us well. . .the culture has been handed down from one generation to the other. The only thing we have lost is our language. What you called Jamaican language, is the language that was created to communicate, since they were from different parts of West Africa. This shows the creativity, innovativeness of your people.

    About the walls. I was watching a video about construction cost in Africa, I commented with the question of why was it necessary to have such massive gates and high walls, that would make me feel imprisoned. So many people told me I have not really seen expensive houses, or I wouldn't ask that. I was born in Jamaica and now live in Florida where I am a Real Estate Agent. I have sold many multimillion dollar houses, and not one had such huge gates and walls as I saw in the video of Africa.

      That's your opinion. Every country is different.

    • @jamaicaportal
      @jamaicaportal 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @woody230bal What I see and comment on is not an opinion. The fact is I have not seen such massive walls around normal properties anywhere I have been to. I have lived on 3 continents and 6 countries: Jamaica, Suriname, Guyana, Switzerland, Holland, and the USA. And have visited even more countries. But based on movies and videos, I am only asking why African countries have those kinds of walls and gates.

    • @gloriarobinson1869
      @gloriarobinson1869 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Then just continue to sell your Florida homes and leave the people to their choices. Make sure the homes you are selling are not ocean side because they get just disappear in a few years time under the ocean.

    • @jamaicaportal
      @jamaicaportal 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are right about the ocean side properties eventually covered in water. BTW, my asking about the wall is not to criticize but only to know if there is a special purpose because some of those walls look just as expensive as the actual house. And I cannot believe that crime is so bad in those nice looking villages that people spend so much on something.@@gloriarobinson1869

I have been watching another utuber who is also currently in Jamaica and it’s so frustrating that he only shows the poverty and crime ridden areas. Jamaica has so much more to offer than crime and poverty. Please keep being different with your videos and not follow the same narrative that most other utubers are pushing for views. Trust me, Iron Shore, Montego Bay doesn't even make the top 15 "richest" neighborhoods (in Jamaica). The Lagoons and Tryall neighborhoods, which are in or close to Montego Bay, are very exclusive! I'd put Iron Shore in the top 5 in Montego Bay. The most elite neighborhoods in Jamaica are found in Kingston and St Andrew, though. The houses in the top neighborhoods in Kingston and St Andrew can reach over USD $5 million. You can also find very elite neighborhoods in Ocho Rios, St Mary, St. Elizabeth, and especially Mandeville. The largest and most grand houses are in Mandeville, where all the returning residents go
