Hell Mode (Elite) versions of some non-Paladin specific shields can provide 4-Sockets, as well. I should have been more specific! Thank you commenters for pointing this out so I can clarify! 😊

@@melvinatkins998 In my opinion, yes. Full Sigon’s Steel is still one of the better Normal Sets; and whose pieces are fairly common to come across. At least it sure feels like I come across Sigons way more than often than I should 🤣
You're probably thinking of tier 3 kite shield ("Monarch", 156 str req.) - don't expect to see any until end of NM or start of Hell mode, can still use "lvl 25" spirit runeword
The Elite versions can have 4-Sockets. I was referring to Normal and Nightmare versions, though I probably should have been more specific in that description.
3-socket helms have a whole bunch of new rune words since patch 2.6, all require shael. These are great for mercenaries, in nightmare mode. The best way to get a single character into Nightmare act 2 is Druid summoner. Doesn’t need anything and all you do is run tal rasha tombs all day long. Eventually you’ll find ko. Ko is great for building harmony, for equipping your rogue mercenary. With runes up to ko you can make a ton of cool stuff for an assassin melting nightmare entirely. All characters melt nightmare after that except the Barbarian. He just can’t get past Chaos sanctuary well in nightmare. And glacial trail is almost impossible. He’ll probably be the last character to get into hell. Btw I consider the game beaten after getting all classes into Act 2 hell. Anything beyond that is just like playing hardcore, the xp loss is too much.
My advice for rune management: Make two mules. Name one ElThruThul and the second AmnThruLem. Save up to 10 of each on each mule since the private stash is 10x10. You'll be glad you did this when you start making new characters, especially on your single player account.
You need one rune mule. Keep 3 of each in private stash. Get the mule a cube. You’ll probably have some sigon to equip her. Also use a shared stash with 1 copy from thul to io and next to that the gem that upgrades it. Your mule gets all the trash runes, looks up what gem to pick, and transmutes your trash to better runes. This works up to Mal, anything beyond is either too rare or too costly. But this approach is great for getting any character into hell without respecs.
Spirit runeword is not for melee, thats why it has no enhanced damage. Its for casters, mostly sorceress, but also some of the other chars who focus their skilltree around spells rather than melee. Ie Assassin traps, Necro Bone spear etc.
Thanks for watching! I would say Spirit is meant for all characters to take advantage of. Granted, yes, it has great casting affixes. But it wouldn’t have added Elemental Damage and Life Steal if it wasn’t meant to be swung. After thinking on it further, % to weapon damage may have been excluded to prevent it from being OP.
@@LuketheGamerDuke Well the thing about Diablo II is, that whoever made the item system did it in a very clever way. So they added random stats to unique/ runeword items to kind of "hide" the true purpose of the item. It forces people to consider the items carefully. Also they made "ugly" items better than the fancy looking ones. Milabegras full set looks very cool, but it is one of the worst sets in the game. Contrary look at Dusk Shroud. Very ugly armor when worn, but one of the best when considering the defense & requirement ratio. You also have to think carefully about your total stats to reach the perfect breakpoints for FCR, FHR etc. The Item system in Diablo II looks straight forward on the surface, but if you dig deeper you will discover that it is very well thought through. Thats one of the things that makes Diablo II such a great game.
Necromancers can have super awesome 2 socket wands with White runeword from lvl35. At lvl 25you can get wands from drognan with good stats whats super strong for bone and poison necromancers.
No need. Plus 2 wands are common drops. Buying wands from vendors is ridiculous advice, except for the +1 teleport charged skills. There are unique wands with +2, and several set items. With shrunken heads and helmets you rule as necro.
@@kosterix123 What do you talking about? You can get awesome wands from Drognan in act1. Much easyer then farming for it has the highest chance to get ridiculously good wands especially for bone necro. You can get 20fcr +3 bone spear mana on kill plus useful skill bonuses +3poison and bone skills +5 to bonespear with white runeword. It works for MrLamasc and other D2 players it works for everyone. Only thing you need to do is collect magic staffs wands cube them with chipped gems to get better roll and you can collect huge amount of gold selling them.
I would like to correct that statement a bit. There are 4 socket non paladin shields, however they are high level shields. Namely Monarch, Ward and Aegis, with monarch being the "low level" one at lvl req 54 and str requirement of 156, and it only starts dropping in hell, and can't be obtained in nightmare, so they are at best a hand me down, or a high level item (since its stats are still pretty good at higher levels).
when storing runes in stash like that, it's better to sort them by transmutation/level order, then if you need a certain rune you will have a better idea how many transmutes you are away from that rune. Also you might decide for yourself to not to pick runes below certain level to spend less time in town transmuting. Picking all of you have enough is poor advice. F.E. el eld tir are lowest 3, does it really make sense to pick them up if you have 6 of each up until ral or ort, if it takes 6561 els to make an ort, or 729 tirs, which is 2187 and 243 transmutes respectively each. I think it is good to have sufficient bank of these runes to make a runeword without giving much thought as whether it is ok to spend a rune or not, but picking all is an overkill.
Agree about most of these, but I completely disagree about Lore and Peace. For everyone except melee classes, +skills is the most important stat. Also resistances are more important than defence, and lore packs 30 % lr which is the most important res. The free lvl 15 valkyrie from peace is awesome and an amazon doesn't rely much on defency anyway with here evading skills. Especially early on additional + skills will make any caster class or similar wreck. (Javazon for instance). Enhanced defence is pretty much pointless in normal since its super easy to get a good enough defence rating anyway. The only builds I would go for other stats ahead of skills is the shifter druid or the barbarian, but even he can also wreck with some +skills at lvl30+ if he goes warcry.
I did make mention Lore can be decent for casters, but I can see how the +1 to skills and LR can be more beneficial than how I made it seem. I suppose same can be said for Peace: its affixes probably deserved a bit more credit.
Monarchs are a shield in hell mode only (normally easiest to find in cows) that grants 4 sockets guaranteed from larzuk quest in act 5 (1st quest) or can be found with 4 sockets that are equitable on any character but with a high str requirement of 156 I believe And don’t forget the runeword white Dol Io for necro.
