I keep coming back to this video - fantastic stuff! I really would choose one of these over any other Trident, any day...the sound & character of these is unrivalled and most definitely makes up for their reluctance on hills IMHO. This one was actually one of the best performers on the flat, beaten I think only by 17010!
Great video! Yeah this thing is really struggling climbing those hills. Voith's really like to Rev the hell off the engine! A 4 speed box would suit it much better and make better use of it's power. Really like the aggressive down shift at 3:45!
This bus is struggling badly, I wouldn't blame it, it has served a long time in service and has a engine/gearbox known to be slow, I think it's time to give up.
Yeah they're ok buses I suppose, they sound nice i'll give them that but my god i'd change the gearbox to a 5 speed ZF Ecomat any day! Plus the Stagecoach Tridents have the less powerful engine too, 225bhp! But yes this one pulls much better than the bad B7TL's plus it has a full functioning kickdown as standard.
Yep. If I'm honest, the Tridents are more thrashy in the V--- KGW and V--- MEV batch. But the S--- BWC and T--- KPU (all with the exception of T692 KPU, she is anything but relaxed) buses sound more relaxed which is why I like them. This one was making slow bus steady progress on that hill while remaining relaxed. I think they should have a 5 speed gearbox too, or at LEAST 4, because the 3 speeds sound so weird. But, the Red Demon is a 3 speed!
ALX400 Bus Train and Aviation That's right, The Red Demon is indeed a 3 speed BUT she has the 260bhp engine so that's why she pulls much better than any Stagecoach 3 speed Trident ;-)
That bus would burn out tho if this guy did too much kickdown on a steep hill and that was cheating he did a kickdown my mum is a stagecoach driver and my mother knows some techniques
Apart from the EH buses, stagecraft buses aren't best suited for hilly routes. The Volvo are much better. Single and double deckers. It really annoys me when people put their dirty shoes on public transport seats. So inconsiderate. Regardless of opinion of the transport.

Nice to see proper seats on these older Dennis Tridents. Something you rarely see these days on low floor buses. I assume this is being replaced soon?
Better than the bad B7s in the other video! Amazing for such an old bus really.
3:45 looked nice and comfortable! LOL!
this bus started her life here in london based at stagecoach londons catford garage and breifly at plumstead mainly on routes 47,199,53!!

Stagecoach Perth have a handful of these tridents with bench seats
Lovely seats aren't they!
That freeze frame though 😏😂😂
Hahahaa ;-)
+TheIrish RoadSurfer Great thing. It was a good angle of me haha
Fantastic video get it up
Like what BusThrash said, it's very rare that modern buses have bench seats. The seats that the GTs and SGs have are absoloute shite.
Are they still using these??
The driller Killa!! No they were withdrawn a few years back.
Ugh Voith, give me some Mouthwatering ZF instead, Nice video btw!
Thanks very much!
I would rage if I was forced to drive this tortoise.. revving it to hell won't work either
Indeed it wouldn't!
Plymouth’s hills are bus killers
Any trident with 17- was born and bred in London
not neccesarily true, but a sizeable portion of them are
Still as much revs as the "bad" B7TL's (next to none) of Plymouth and does better work of a hill. Would drive these any day.
