Did 7 years on the volunteer side and had to leave it for work. Now live in a city with a paid department and I'm considering a complete career change back into the fire service. Your videos are amazing. Keep it up!
It's good to show the kids the fire fighter in "regular" clothes and let the kids see him or her get into full gear and hear them breathing with the mask on. It may help the kid if he comes in contact with a fire fighter who is dressed like a monster in a panic situation. I have heard from fire fighter friends who have been in that bad situation how the kid wasn't quite as afraid of the FF. Good job and great video.
I really like the team work and close relationships of each person to their team members. That is the way to do a great job and a nice benefit to the crew also. Thanks for another fine video.
This is an interesting series. I enjoyed it. This reminded me of my time as a firefighter. I kind of miss it. Seeing the little kids getting their tour was cool too. I always enjoyed doing that.
When i was a little boy i think i was 4 ore 5 years and i were in Colorado to visit my family and we were shopping food and stuff like that and when we came out we saw a fire truck and i loved fire trucks and firefighters so we walked to the fire truck and there were two firefighters they showed us the truck and when they were done they gave me a little firefighter helmet that was one of the best days in my live and sorry when my englisch is not so good i live in Germany and normally just speak English with my dad but I don’t write much
Great videos 🤩, just recently "discoverd" your channel. Awesome. I'm a Dutch firefighter and I'm in a observers programm due this September to do 7 days 24 hour shifts with the Tucson fire department, can't wait! But I'm learning already more than a lot of your posts, thanks 💪💪💪 Would love to visit you guys sometimes! Keep making these great videos 😃😃
We once sent to a woman with a broken arm. When we got there she was dead. Turns out she most likely got awoken in the middle of the night because of chest pain but when she got out of bed she tripped on her bed sheets, fell and broke her arm. That’s why she called 911...the broken arm. Just as the Lt said...we were behind the 8 ball when we arrived.
These videos are great its been giving me a lot of information for applying to my local acadamy and make a life of my own in the fire service thank you South Metro
FFx2, EMSx16; push button for wheel lowering and raising, unbelievable! I just came along too early, although on the flip side my qualifications test for engineer was on a 1961 American LaFrance, sweet ride, 750 pump. I left when they were introducing 1.75” hose lines. I’m glad all y’all are still on the job. Be safe and at the end of your shift go home to your families. I went inside as a RN FOR 30+ years in ER, PACU, OR, CNOR (I use to have lots of other initials but they too are behind me) 😎🙏🏽✌🏽
hoping to one day become a firefighter, sadly wont be able to be one in south metro because of living in another country however these videos still give me hope on what i might be able to be one day :)
great video guys nice behind the scenes of what the Lt' has to do and how important it is to work as a team.He is 100 % right we are all one team and we all lean on each other can't wait till the next video.I hope its the medic one comes soon i love ems
You know what's really cool? To be one of these firefighters and know that for at least some of these kids, they will remember this day the rest of their lives. They may not even remember the individual firefighter himself but when they are 40, 50, 80 years old, they'll think back to the time in elementary school a firefighter crew visited them. Some of them will remember it so much they'll want to take up the profession.
Thank you very much for the interesting insight and the related information about your equipment and brave work. You are very brave and great heroes that affects all people who work in such difficult professions to save and help people. 🍀💜💝💙♥️🍀🍀🍀🍀🇺🇲 best wishes from 🇩🇪

It would be cool if you guys did a fleet friday video on Tower 18, or Ladder 12, it would be nice to see the differences between them and the other towers such as tower 45
You know you live in a cold state when you wear a tee shirt and\or shorts in the bay or outside on scene in the middle of winter! Greetings from Connecticut!
Sadly, in my EMS agency only people we get help from are people on scene or if we request additional units. FD doesn’t respond on EMS calls. We are based out of the fire house but do EMS only.
I’m a volunteer for New Haven Fire Rescue here in New York and last year in 2023 we ran 440 calls 110 of which were medicals and 99.9% of the fires we run are mutual aid we haven’t had a fire in our district since the summer of 23’
Is the white-to-red lighting shift in the hallways just for artistic effect on the videos or do they actually change color when a call comes in? If so, what's the reasoning behind it?
Hamish Glover Diesel exhaust removal system. Gets rid of the toxic diesel exhaust. It has carcinogens in it that cause cancer. That gets it out of the building. One of the many steps to reduce job related cancer.
I know that 9/11 passed a few months ago but I think it is unofficially a remember of the 343 Firefighters who died on 9/11 that this video has 343 thousand views. Always Remember, Never Forget

Do the firies take their bunker gear with them when they leave the station (medic call or to go shopping)? When multiple trucks and engines are call how do they decode which ones are called upon?
So I’ve been wondering what those tubes handing from the rafters are until this video, they connect to the exhaust pipes so they can start up the trucks while they get ready and the bay doesn’t fill with exhaust fumes.
At So. Metro, can you promote directly to lieutenant from a firefighter position or do you need to promote to engineer first. My department promoted through the ranks including f/fighter to engineer to Lt. to Cpt. and up to a BC, Chief of the dept usually was hired from outside the dept...Medics could be at any rank and varied from EMT 1 to EMT P!

Nice navy blue Carhartt heavy duty coat. No longer available. Best coat for firefighters. Madewell formerly produced a similar coat with a wool blanket lining. Boston firefighters wore them for years. That coat and company is gone. Wild Ass makes a great facsimile.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Thanks for the quick response, I couldn't find anything about being required to have the citizenship or not, that's why I was double checking. Still unsure whether USA citizenship is needed or not
Man power, crowd control, ability to cover medics in rough neighborhoods, can help with difficult physical things like person in a tight spot, needs to be lifted off the ground, 300+ pound person ECT. Plus is many areas of the US there are many more fire stations and medics run out of the hospital. So a fire crew can likely arrive before cops and medics. The firefighters are often trained medics and begin care before others arrive. And many times the situation on scene is different than what a caller reports. Better to have everyone show up every time just in case it's a much bigger issue or it's not just medical.
Currently active duty military and looking into some classes I can take online to help me get a good job in the fire service, does any have any recommendations (not begging for a TYFYS, I feel like that’s important for people to know)
