- Old vintage vacuums are lovely, apart from they don take inner bags! Mostly because they weren't mainstream at this point in history! And using cloth bags is messy, and when the bag is fragile and torn, a liability! So, let's bodge some inner bags int othe 2 free Hoovers we got the other day, and see what improvements can be had!

A great pair of vacuums are these. A distant cousin had a version of the Hoover Junior and my father's bowling club had a 652. Oh by the way, right from when i was born till 1978, we had a Hoover 262 until i wore it out.
Make do and mend back in those days Sam! And if auntie jeans knickers were strong enough to patch a hoover 612 bag then its a fair period bodge for me 😅

I have in the distant past used a hose to fit a paper bag to a 119 in the same way as you did, although with the help of insulation tape to increase the diameter of the hose I terminated it into a Hoover Junior 1334-type bottom-fill bag connector. If I could find a way of using a paper bag successfully in a Hoover 612 then my life would be simple, because I clean several commercial areas that are carpeted and a 612 would be ideal, especially as so many of them are turning up all the time on Ebay and facebook. It's funny, because if you consider this one model ran for only about five years and still turn up now, and yet the Senior as we knew it ran from 1959 to mid 1980s in all different styles and models and colours, and yet they are so very hard to find now.
measure the inner circumference of the rectangular duct coming from the big hoover and then shape a round hose to fit snugly into the rectangular hole. when you find a hose with the same circumreference ? hot glue into place with a hot glue gun to seal the tiny gaps and secure it into place . 😃
failing that . do clean bag inside and out and dry thoroughly .
then place a small patch of duct tape or gorilla tape on both sides of the hole . this will hold it firmly in place . failing that take a patch of material and hot glue it in place of said hole .
i would imagine the inside colour of an old pair of brown cord trousers or old skirt from a charity shop or jumble sale would be a close match to the original colour . failing the ability to find a brown canvas scrap of material somewhere .
