  • This evening we have 3 Numatic Henry vacuum cleaners in for repair! These all belong to the same cleaning lady, and one does run but needs a service, the other two are dead! Let's see how dead they really are, and give them all a good service and check over in the process!
    Please check out my Instagram - @TheRealBeko1987
    Please check out my blog of Vacuum Cleaner brochures and Manuals - oldhoovers.blogspot.com/
    Please do like this video if you liked it, or dislike if you felt it was lacking a certain something, and please subscribe if you would like to be notified when I upload more vacuum cleaner content!
    Fancy donating to the channel? I’m always in need of parts for projects, so have a look at my Amazon wishlist, and let me know who you are in the note so I can read it out on camera! - www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/...

    In our garage we have a pull down Duraplug rubber socket on a self retracting coil. Tug once to pull down and tug again to go back up. The upward action has always been a bit ferocious.
    To save the plug and coil mechanism from damage we fitted a nylon waterproof cable gland about ten centimetres back from the socket onto the cable. This gland fits very tightly onto the cable and makes contact with the retractor rather than the socket when rewinding. For the pennies these glands cost they would probably work very well for your Henry situation - hopefully preventing wiring damage from over enthusiastic winding.

    Henry is the best! I’ve used a Titan wet and dry cleaner before, but I find them a bit flimsy.

      She does have a moan about her staff. We talked when she picked these up about fitting longer cables. If I got some flat core/mildly thinner cable in a drum I could just wire the reel up, wind until the cord reel jams then pull 2 turns out and fit rhe plug there! The 620w ones should cope fine with a thinner flex shouldn't they? (not Chinese-cheap thin flex but the kind Electrolux happily used on 1500w vacs in the 2000s

      @@beko1987 It will be fine, esp the 620w one. i did not mean to come across as harsh in that comment, henries are working vacuums lol. at least she has bags in them like miles said.

    3:30 that is a 3 amp fuse mate, it wont take to much for that to go. Edit: FFS again, you corrected yourself later in the vid lol.

    At least I can say that tge ones I fix at work get properly rewired plugs!, wouldn't be a very good portable appliance tester if I couldn't wire a plug properly!
    I would argue that the first plug you rewired wouldn't pass my inspection, the live wire should be shorter so it gets pulled out first, I would be hard pressed not to rewire it.

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That makes alot of sense, thanks! Their long gone now but I'm sure they'll come back, and I'll be sure to wire plugs that way in the future 👍

      @@beko1987 I've certainly spotted a few owner wiring jobs that I've corrected. Some people shouldn't be allowed near a rewireable plug and you can understand why they're fitted as standard now.

    It’s a joke how this is a cleaning contractor that owns these machines yet they don’t have the basic safe equipment or lack of skills to wire them up properly there’s no way they just came out unless they were wired up shit
    Like that 160s cable can’t just fall out of a plug 😂 hate to think how bad their PAT test history is
