    Great video! And for anyone who is having an issue of the lights not working- check the fan wiring. I had that issue and low and behold the blue wire was never connected to the house wiring. I wired it to the black house wire and it lit right up

      Thats the issue I am having. My fan has two separate switches and I noticed the blue wire is attached to a black in box in ceiling but its not the black wire that the fan is wired to. No matter what switch I turn on, the black never gets hot. Ill tie it into the hot from the switch than it should work

    Thank you for this. The installation instructions that came with the kit were very confusing when in fact it is a very simple install.

    wow was about to return my light kit (since my fan is already 15 years old) lo and behold the universal fit still works, pop the cap out the center of the cover, attach kit, blue to black then white to white, and voila we have light!

    I love the clip to connect concept it’s much easier than connecting the light kit with regular wires and worry about dropping the wire nuts

    My lights aren’t working
    And im connecting them the right way is there a way i can plug the black wire to another one instead of the blue one ?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no other alternate wiring for the light kit. We would suggest making sure that your fan's blue wire is connected to the house wiring correctly. Also, if this is on a fan that is using a wall switch, make sure the light is turned on using the pull chain before turning it on with the wall switch. If that doesn't resolve the issue, we would suggest calling the Hampton Bay customer service team at 1-855-434-2678.

    How do you disconnect those single pin white connectors though? If I need to take that light cap back off, I can't seem to pinch or pull those 2 wires apart.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are trying to disconnect the light kit wires from the fan wires, they should just pull apart.

    I have a springview bowl light model, can this light kit go with it?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked at the manual for the Springview fan and the only potential issue I can see is the wire connections. This light kit requires the fan to have a blank switch cup to allow it to attach to the fan. The light kit from the Springview can be removed from the switch cup for non-light kit installation, so the light kit should be able to attach to the fan with no issues. The manual wasn't clear when it comes to connecting the wires from the light kit. I would suggest removing your current light kit to check the wiring. If the Springview fan has two separate wires, the new light kit should be able to connect, no problem. If the Springview has a molded adapter plug between the fan and the light kit, it may take some extra work to cut and strip the wires before making the connection. Hope this helps.

    I have installed numerous light kits in the past. I installed this exact new kit yesterday on an existing Hampton-Bay ceiling fan that was working well. The ceiling fan is still working fine, yet the light kit is not working . I double checked my connections (seated properly, white-to-white and black-to-blue) yet it just will not work at all. Any ideas?

      I have to say that I am not a licensed electrician and you should always consult with a licensed electrician if you have questions about wiring. Ok, now that the disclaimer is out of the way... Thanks for watching the video and for the question. My first thought is to check the wiring of the fan to the house wiring (make sure the breaker is off) . If your fan didn't already have a light kit, it is possible that the fan's light power wire was never connected to the house. I would check to make sure that the fan's light wire was connected to the house supply wire - Typically it would be a blue fan wire that would connect to the house hot wire (black or red wire). If the blue wire is connected and the light kit is wired properly, I would call customer service and see what they have to say. If the fan's blue wire is connected to a red wire in the ceiling, that is probably a light switch. To use the light switch, you would have to turn the light switch on, and then pull the light's pull chain to turn the light on. After that, you'd be able to turn the light on/off with the switch. Hope this helps. Please let me know if it does.

    I purchased a light kit and when I disconnected the 3 screws it didn't look light the wiring seen in the video. Can I add a pic to comments? I am sure there is a simply solution.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fan would need to have 2 wires to be able to attach the light kit. If the fan just has a 9-pin plug, it won't be compatible. If the fan has 2 wires, but no plugs, you can cut the plugs from the light kit and simply twist the wires from the light kit to the wires from the fan and secure the connection with small wire nuts.

    What if you don’t have snap in wires?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If your fan doesn't have the snap in wires, but has the 2 wires from the fan for the light kit, you can cut the connectors off of the light kit wires and then strip off some of the insulation and twist the light kit wires to the wires from the bottom of the fan. The color coding should still be the same. Just secure the wires with small plastic wire nuts and some electrical tape.

    • @ceilingfans101

      are you using a remote? if so, did you pull the chain once to set the light to on? If using a remote, the light won't work until the pull chain is set to on. Did you check that the light wire from your fan is connected to the house wiring?

      @@ceilingfans101 I have the same issue and there isn't a remote for the fan. All the wires are connected but my light doesn't turn on

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@miguelv2588 if all the wiring is correctly connected, and the fan is not connected to a wall switch or remote, we would suggest checking the wiring from the fan to the house. If the fan was installed originally without a light kit, the blue wire for the fan's light may not be connected to the house. If that doesn't resolve the issue, we would suggest calling the customer service number on the cover of the manual.

      Double check the connections from the light to the fan to make sure that they are completely plugged into each other and check the blue wire from the fan is connected to the power source from the house.
