  • @5:11 - See how the junction box is retrofit with this video: • Install a Ceiling Fan ... What's better than a new fan? A spare car key without leaving home! I started Tom's Key Company (tomskey.com/?Tomah...) so you can get quick and affordable DIY spare car keys and fobs shipped to your front door.
Need a fan? Get this one from Amazon USA: amzn.to/2zqFeje
    Amazon Canada: amzn.to/2xUx7KN
    Amazon UK: amzn.to/2yGiVsw
    (affiliate links)
It's not too difficult to install a ceiling fan. This video will demonstrate the ENTIRE process I used to install a fan, step by step. A few basic tools and a bit of time is all that it took.
This fan has a remote control, which can be a handy and convenient feature. It also includes a light, multiple fan speeds, the ability to reverse the fan direction, and it looks great.

You forgot to point the stud finder at yourself and say "Hey. I'm a stud!". That's required whenever you use a stud finder.

  • @millions2nette

@ 4:55 you mention having to replace the junction box, because when you install the bracket, it has to be on a stud. The existing junction box, was not positioned correctly for this new bracket, BUT, then at 8:12, you're screwing mounting bracket into junction box. What happened to the INSTALLATION OF THE NEW JUNCTION BOX?

  • @CeilingFanVideosOnYT
    @CeilingFanVideosOnYT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

I want to mention that if the existing light fixture is on a dimmer, and there is no separate hot wire, the dimmer must be removed. If there is a separate hot wire, motor must be either wired to hot wire that isn't on a dimmer, or the dimmer must be removed. Fan motor should not be on dimmers, but fan lights can be on a dimmer as long as the dimmer only controls lights and the motor is 100% independent from it. Just a common mistake people including some electrician make when replacing a light fixture with a ceiling fan.

What if I only have 2 wires in the ceiling? I have an old house. I replace my 2 kitchen fixtures with updated flush mounts. The boxes only 2 wires in them so the ground wires on the fixtures were secured to the metal plate that came with them. I want a ceiling fan in my living room but I’m sure the wiring is the same as in the kitchen. Am I just not able to install a fan? I’m not smart at this kind of stuff so not sure if this will work for me.

Hello! I am trying to install a ceiling fan but my problem is there only seems to be a ground wire coming from the mounting piece and none from the actual lamp, only the blue (light) and the black and white. Is it possible it is a defect and the lamp is missing it, or is that something normal? I tried connecting it regardless and the lamp works when I use the pulleys but if I use the wall switch the breaker flips. If you have any tips it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 😊

When you are setting fan in the bracket , is there any locking machanism to hold the fan tightly in the bracket or just hang it there ?
    Need your comments please.

Any idea what would cause the remote not to be able to turn the light off in order to use the fan? My fan works but the remote won’t turn the light off. I can turn it off at the wall but it’ll also turn off the fan.

Maybe try to toggle the channels on the remote if it has it. Mine was in the battery box area

Wireless fans suck. Always buy the fans with the chain if you don't want to spend half the day trying to turn it on or of. On the other hand, if the light and fan go off or on at the same time, it was probably installed incorrectly.

Do you think it would be odd or weird to have 4 ceiling fans spaced out equally in a living room (nice breeze wherever you sit) 20 x 15 living area

I’m not a fan of the hunter brand. I know people love it and stand by it but the Hampton Bay (Home Depot brand) is way easier. Now I do work there I’m a sales man in electrical but I’m being unbiased. The new easy install fans save so much time and there mostly all led now and doesn’t even require a bulb. Blades snap on and are secure. And some have the remote built in already.

I've had a few Hampton Bay fans in the past t hat were pretty good, but some of the Hampton bay stuff I have bough more recently is cheap crap.

Couple things not understanding the old bracket to new bracket thought you were going to add a new bracket? And also anytime i work with power even if the entire city is turned off i will always rewire nut the wire that I unspliced again. everyone does things differently but thats just what i would do. Not a bad video just think things should be explain alittle better.
