You are absolutely correct about price. Not worth it at $1000 , $900 or $800. I would rather go with the Goal Zero Yeti 1000 from Costco, but I would definitely consider it at $700. Great review!

I purchased one and I am very pleased. It came while I was receiving emergency surgery in the hospital. I wanted the Bluetti, however due to physical limitations I believed it would be too heavy. My friend barrowed it and tested the new Jakery solar panels and also recharged it off his car's generator with my Bestec inverter. Everything worked as it should. Despite informing him about the more powerful Bluetti's he was already sold on the Jakery. He purchased one as well. His wife says the Jackery is heavy enough for her to carry and did not want the Bluetti.

We really are in need of a complete layout of a system for a sailboat. Using 2- 100 watt solar panels, 2-vmaxtank
SLR 125 AGM 12 VOLT 125ah batteries, with the proper charge controllers, cables, fuses, bus bar blocks & how to connect:
    •Bilge pump
    •Nav. Lights
    •Marine radio
    •Dometic cf50 fridge
    •6 inside LED lights
•Outlet to power tablet for Navigation
    •Outlet to power cell phone
    •Auto radio/cd player

I use the Jackery 500 with a 150w HQST panel on the roof in my sheep barn a few hundred feet away from any power outlet. Running three 30 inch LED shop lights pulling a total of 70watts. Even thought this setup works for me it is a slow recharge.
The Jackery 1000 interest me because of the MPPT controller it's said to have. After your review, I'm not so sure now. But like you said if there were a code discount of a couple hundred dollars maybe I'd look at it again. Thanks much Will.

When I first heard about the Jackery 1000, I couldn't find specs on it, but since the website mentioned only hooking up two 100 watt panels, I suspected it might have a slow charge rate. Bummer. I was considering getting one. Still might since I like the size and weight, but will have to give it some thought.

I think he made a good case for the Jackery too. Customer support and portability are pretty big selling points in and of themselves.
Also, the separate video he has of the EcoFlow Delta does not make it look... stable. If the insane charge and discharge rates he mentions are achieved only by noisily cramming as much cooling air through it as possible and shutting down the unit after strenous use, then I think I'd rather take the slow-charging but stable and quiet Jackery.

The barrel jack for the dedicated charger probably has a bypass in it to switch to that jack and disconnect the other input when a plug is plugged into it. Just like our radios of old.... Batteries to run it unless you plug in a power pack. The power pack bypassed the battery input.... :)

Jackery is a established USA company with excellent customer service. To many people that carries a lot of weight. After a lot of research I went with the Jackery 1000 and 2 of there 100w solar panels(got it 15% off on sale/free shipping/no tax). It's worked flawlessly. I highly recommend it. (I wish the actual product was made in the USA(all jackery products are made in china)but no one makes a solar generator in the USA currently. Assembly doesn't count either. All most all electrical components are made in China.

Wow, so it seems that we've moved well beyond the Inergy products? Bummer - I bought a Kodiak when you first reviewed it, and it's worked well during the two short-term power outages we've experienced since I purchased it, but I'm now tempted to upgrade based on your more recent product reviews. My biggest hesitation is the same as it was for digital cameras - it doesn't seem to matter what/when you buy, there will soon be a "better" option.

As long as it last for 2 years, it is well worth the money and in most cases, people will have more than one Units of the solar power systems anyway.

i was waiting and so glad you finally tested/reviewed this model. i would not buy the jackery 1000 for those reasons you mentioned but especially because of the 'delayed" readings. that is a mistake on jackery's part. i mean, why would any manufacturer think that a delayed (long delay) readout is okay. when you have other models without this drawback, then this is unacceptable. and the slow charging, when other manuf's are faster, is just unacceptable to me. everyone wants past charging. make a "switch" mechanism and offer both slow and fast charging. let the user decide how they want to care for these devices.

Hi, I like the way you simulate the suppliers specifications. It's simply the best way to do a review. Great!
As more and more power boxes are reaching the markets. I would like to see their lifetime. Apart from battery decay. I think the first decaying parts will be the internal ventilators. Having mechanical moving parts and just suckling in dust. Which is a common thing when eg carrying in a truck bed.
Please in your next reviews, also have a look at these components, filters etc. It would be a positive selling point when they are well protected and/or easy to replace.
Keep going on. You're showing a great deal of information. Helping many of us in our decisions to buy the product which best suits us.

Will, I love it, and I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that we turn to you for your advice, and your opinion on any product. I just kind of chuckle when you say things like, "These things are more like for camping." lol
You always talk about the fact that we'd be able to build our own system for much less money, and that is very true. I believe you! BUT.....do I have confidence that I could do it, and do it right so that I don't burn my RV or my house down? NOPE!! Nor do I want to spend the money on the tools, the parts, or spend the time doing it.
That's why I will only buy things like these solar "generators" that are built by someone other than myself. It does also take a certain amount of skill, and designing, and manufacturing prowess to be able to get all the things that are inside of them, into these nice handy, and easy to handle containers.
I will always wait to see a review of yours on any solar generator that I am considering buying. That being said, I will always say that I think you were too hard on the Apex. It WAS about 1800 bucks, but you can get one now for 1250. My power knob has not fallen off.....lol!
I know you hated that it was regulated to about 500 watts max output, but, it will still put out 800 to 900 watts for about 5 minutes or so....at least mine will. And I actually like that they did that, so that people won't wear out the battery so fast by discharging it too rapidly, over and over.
My wife and i cooked up dinner in the Instapot the other night using the Apex. It worked great! I watched TV on our 65 inch TV, along with the Cable box, my home theater, the router, and the wifi all on, for about 6 hours the other day. I did have it hooked up to 400 watts of solar while I was doing all that, but, even at the best time of the day, it only brought my total discharge down to about 50 watts instead of the 246 watts it was all pulling before plugging in the solar. All in all, it took it down to about 56% battery before I unplugged everything. Not too bad I thought! I live in MN, so...not the best sun in winter! My power had been disconnected because we're actually getting real solar panels installed on our house, and they were doing all the wiring.
It freaked one of the guys out when he came inside to get up into the attic......he was like...WTF! How the hell are you watching TV?
It was a good time to test out my own little "off grid" setup.

After watching many videos and window shopping multiple solar panel brands, I've yet to find a solid opinion of how to determine the highest density of wattage from readily available panel technology which could mount on any of the following cargo vans with their respective dimension options. I recently discovered your channel and recognize your ability to render an expert opinion. Perhaps a dedicated video? I believe you would find people quite interested.
    Transit 69" x 106/124/154"
    Sprinter 69" x 123/165/180"
    ProMaster 73" x 106/126/140"
    Considerations:
    - Panels do not 'hang off' the roof
    - Advantageous to have at least 1 area for a 17"x17" roof vent/fan
    - If any or all of that 17" allows for another panel, priority panel
    - The 17" can run either the length or the width of the roof
    - Which van has the highest percentage of uncovered space relative to its highest wattage density
    - Weight
    - Price
    - Other pertinent ideas and challenges
    Thank you for your content.

JUST BOUGHT, July 2020: Hooking my jackery 1000 to two Jackery 100W solar panels I get about 130 watt showing on the 1000 display hummm... I emailed Jackery on this (as they dont answer the phone EVER) and tech support emailed back statingthe Parallel cable takes away power and I would not get 200W anyway from their panels ...Also I charged the 1000 from 30% (out of the box) to 100% in 4-5 hours using solar then house 110V...Im not techy like this guy (I like) but it did seem fast to me.

The input for the AC has a disconnect built in that shuts down the input for the solar panels. Most of those kinds of input plugs have that function. Probably due to most items using this kind of plug are usually plugged into the mains power, and the other leg is to batteries that cannot be charged. My "boom box" stereo has this same type of plug.

I haven’t bought a battery yet, and wanted to spend the $1K on either the Jackery 1000 or a battle born 12v 100Ah.
I’ve fooled around with the Jackery 240, which recharged just fine with two 100w panels, but the 240 wasn’t big enough to draw the 75watts or so per hour needed for my MacBook Pro which easily drained the Jackery 240 from 100% to 60% in only a couple of hours. So the rate of recharge vs rate of consumption wasn’t compatible with my use. And then if it’s a cloudy day your stuck with a low Jackery 240 at 40%, then your done. Then your hoping and waiting for a full sunny day to recharge the battery.
So I was thinking the Jack 1000 could take the 75-100 watts per hour, and drop to maybe 75% per session of use (helped by simultaneous charging by the panels if there was sun during that use). Then the recharge during non use could bring it back up from 75%.
The idea that you get a built in pure sine inverter, 12v and usb outlets, and an MPPT solar charge controller all sounded good. And still does sound good.
But given the slow recharge rate resulting from the regulated solar inputs? That is a pure manufacture decision.
Therefore, the a Battle Born 12v 100Ah naked battery (not equipped with inverter, outlets, and an MPPT SCC) sounds like a better place to spend the $1,000 on. And then, perhaps, buy the a Jack 1k as a pseudo 2nd battery source (not primary). That seemed to look like a better sequence of acquiring solar energy storage solutions.
Even then, after getting the BB first, the question at that next purchase time would be: 1. Whether to buy another Battle Born with the $1000 do as to up fit dramatically the solar system with two BBs as apposed to acquiring a device which is more of a standalone piece of equipment which the Jack 1000 is.
Bottom line, if the Jack 1000 recharged as aggressively as the Battle Born would, then yes, as a first Lithium Power Storage/use solution to my system would have been easy.
Therefore, Jackery if your listening, you’ve most likely lost this customer to battle born because of your products regulated and limited PV array input And recharge specifications.
I would have been happy buying a bunch of Jack 1000’s if they performed and were attachable (Parallel, series, etc.) (especially regarding recharging rates) as a stand alone 12v 100Ah battle born lithium battery.
Of course the Jack 1000 is not a 100Ah capacity unit either. I believe it is in the 70Ah range. But if that was the only difference, then the decision would be easier between a BB and the Jack 1000 (getting a portable power solution vs one that is physically attached to one structure (the RV Campervan)
So at this moment, the BB appears to be a preferred place to spend the $1000. Perhaps already having a MPPT SCC and a working solar control panel, 12v outlets, and an inverter, having all these accessories already, makes the built in similar systems a moot issue because I already have the devices. So all I would need is to plop in the BB battery.
Otherwise, the Jack 1000 being Solar, inverter, MPPT, 12v and USB port outlets ready, may be preferred because one does not need to buy all the built in Solar components separately.

That big fat Jackery is worthless and they used their previous good smaller units as leverage to drive more sales like all companies try to capitalize off of some good things previous models did . They are just trying to make more money so we all shouldn't sugar coat this fact.....rather than focusing on creating a product with true value for the consumer.
Its way overpriced for what it does which is pathetic.... so it is a horrible value for what it does and their techs know this...but upper management I am sure just tells them to produce something to keep costs low and put it out for sale...and then uneducated consumers are buying something way overpriced in this fat waste of money unit...which translates to a rip off compared to others available out right now.

Jackery often has sales available, particularly for their newer/est models. A few of the TH-cam reviewers of this newest Jackery 1000 model have a 20% off code available, bringing the initial cost of this thing to $800. That's a much more compelling offer, imo. The Ecoflow and Bluetti don't get close to that price, and that's not an insubstantial amount. Granted, one would need to jump on that intro price when it's available and not wait.

I'm asking this question here simply because it's the latest video and more likely to get a response from someone.
Everything electrical device that I use at home is AC powered...everything. I charge my phone via USB from my laptop or directly from a wall socket with an adapter. So the question is...if I install an electrical system, let's say, an off grid cabin...why do I need to concern myself with a 12volt/multiple fuse system at all. I understand how an automobile system works, but other than lighting a cigarette or charging the off grid battery from the car, why is 12volt a consideration in the overall discussion?
