      I just asked ChatGPT "Is God real?"
      Its verbatim answer was the following:
      "The existence of God is a deeply complex and highly debated philosophical, theological, and personal question that has puzzled humanity for centuries. The concept of God, or a higher power, varies significantly across different cultures, religions, and individual belief systems.
      Beliefs in the existence of God or gods are typically based on faith, personal experiences, cultural upbringing, and philosophical reasoning. Some people firmly believe in the existence of God based on their faith and personal experiences, finding comfort and guidance in their beliefs. Others approach the question from a more rational or scientific perspective, requiring empirical evidence or logical proof to accept the existence of a deity.
      The debate about God's existence encompasses various philosophical arguments, such as the cosmological argument, teleological argument, and ontological argument, along with counter-arguments and critiques against these positions.
      As of now, there isn't universally accepted empirical evidence or proof that definitively proves or disproves the existence of God. Consequently, whether or not God is real remains a deeply subjective and individual perspective that varies from person to person. It's a matter of personal belief, faith, and interpretation."

    _"I don't hold beliefs or opinions because I'm a machine learning model created by OpenAI. My responses are based on patterns in the data I was trained on, and I provide information and explanations based on that data."_

      Pretty much. Any "artificial intelligence" is little more than a database of facts and a search algorithm used to connect those facts together. This can be used to construct sentences, actions in a game, instructions to navigate a vehicle, what have you. The AI doesn't have any opinions because it doesn't have a mind to understand anything with. All it does is regurgitate the facts, true or false, that it has access to, in the forms it is programmed to use.

    I asked Chat GPT a few questions when doing research for my own apologetics channel. Several answers seemed slanted, so I asked for a reference to confirm... and it would outright admit that it gave me false information (falsely attributing quotes to certain people, claiming a famous person is an atheist when they're an outspoken Christian, etc.) This has happened at least 3 times. Always ask it to cite sources for data.

    • @justjason7662
      @justjason7662 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s interesting. I haven’t encountered this. When I use it as a research aid for fast tracking my research source material and just having “someone” to bounce off research/thesis statement ideas, I find that it does some sloppy work that needs to be corrected quite often. But I’ve never encountered blatant dishonest information. And I do thoroughly check everything… the nature of research.
      I’ve also been able to train the AI to consider new material and thinking and convince it to hold a particular position to retain research alignment.
      Biggest problem I have with it is that it tends to “forget” things. I’ll instruct it to hold on to a particular note. Over the course of a months long research effort I’ll find that it has dropped certain key items from my notes. So it’s been useful to keep my own separate notes in OneNote so I can verify what it spits out when I make requests like “show me my list of key sources for each research statement in my thesis.”
      Always keep your own notes!!! AI seems to have a memory problem! Especially when you have a long running study going for months and you ask it to recall major lists or items.

However, I clearly frame ChatGPT to analyze and study only from a Christian perspective and to not include other belief systems unless I specifically ask it to do so. I clearly direct the study using critical thinking skills as well as my knowledge of thematic connections and chiastic structures. It helps me explore and analyze areas that I have already connected in my own personal studies (like when reading about the tabernacle and seeing the connection of the various elements to our human bodies, or the way God used various forms of social psychology with those in Exodus before those concepts even were conceived or studied by man). just to nitpik a little - combined super-intelligence (Ai) is not represented well as having 'no intelligence'. 😆 It's not sentient yet (maybe)... nor is it able to reason or empathize.
      But wisdom, reasoning, empathy, are not synonymous with intelligence, or knowledge - of course these ideas have nuance to us. If an Ai can beat Go, totally dominates at chess, and is doing math, i'll say it has intelligence no doubt. :shrug: "Everything is known." ❤
      ChatGPT is a language model, but any Ai that's able to learn and adapt in real time - sure they rely on algorithms - this could be considered thought-like, as the data points have been compiled for decades, not only by their creators, but by bots teaching other bots how to learn. I was interested in seeing ChatGPT's answer to the question in the thumbnail, particularly with the portion of its response that was shown there. So this video felt a little like clickbait since that wasn't included in it. I think ChatGPT's answer about how you can know if a religion is right was better than you gave it credit for. You didn't really talk much about its mention of "Experience and Connection", but I think those are actually core parts of determining whether or not a religion is real and worth following. The fact that I can experience the presence of God in a tangible way and have relationship and personal connection with Him are core parts of how I know that Christianity is real. If someone is going through their Christian life solely with an intellectual understanding of their faith and no experience of God, I question whether they are truly born again. I don't say this judgmentally, as I went through 28 years of my life convinced that I was born again, and then I *actually* got born again. When that happened, my spirit came alive inside of me, and suddenly my faith wasn't just intellectual. Actually, the intellectual component of my faith took a back seat to the spiritual component, which has been so much more significant to me since being born again. I still value the intellectual understanding of my faith and related things, but my spirit takes the lead now, rather than my mind.

    Interesting! One prompt that you could play around with ---- tell ChatGPT who you want them to act like. This helps ChatGPT talk from a specific point of view.
    --- "Act as if you're a veteran non-denominational apologist. What three arguments will help convince a satanist that the Devil is a liar and not their friend"
    --- "Act as if you're an athiest. Give me four arguments as to why Christianity is not real."
    When you set the tone as to the POV that you want ChatGPT to speak from, it gives more contextual answers.

    I feel like the existence of evil is honestly more of an argument for God than against, it's just the understanding of it that varies most for either use of it. Without a true good (God's character), how can there be something classified as evil? Evil exists for it's own demise (partially at times now but fully when Jesus comes again) in a showing of God's ultimate power

    The moral argument is my least favorite believe it or not. I say that because it leads to the "evil exists" argument and moral compass arguments that make it hard to sway anyone. It can get confusing to discuss to someone who believes it's all subjective. I'd much rather use their reasoning and debunk it. That method seems to be more effective to me. If you can put them into doubt about their own reasoning, then they will look at yours in a better light.

    Fun video. The Bible says the soul is the whole living person. You’re talking about the spirit.
    The Hebrew word nepeš is the word translated as “soul” in the Old Testament. It is found 754 times in the Old Testament and is also translated into a variety of other English words, including being, life, me, you, heart, people, and creature. Most of us are familiar with the account of God’s forming of Adam in Genesis chapter 2. God formed him from the dust, breathed into him the breath of life, and he became a living soul (nepeš) or being. But this is not the first usage of nepeš in the creation account.

    I asked ChatGPT about you Sean. Here's what it said:
    Is sean mcdowell a good christian apologist?
    ChatGPT
    Sean McDowell is a well-known Christian apologist, author, and speaker who has contributed significantly to the field of Christian apologetics. He is the son of the renowned Christian apologist and author, Josh McDowell. Sean McDowell is respected for his articulate defense of the Christian faith and has written several books on apologetics, theology, and culture.
    Whether someone considers him a "good" Christian apologist can be subjective and depends on individual perspectives. Some people appreciate his work, find his arguments compelling, and consider him to be a strong advocate for Christianity. Others might have different opinions based on their theological beliefs or personal preferences.
    It's essential to explore Sean McDowell's writings, speeches, and debates to form your own opinion about his effectiveness as a Christian apologist, taking into account your own beliefs and convictions.

    I don't think Chat GPT was saying homosexuality is an agree to disagree issue, because that would mean all parties engaging in the discussion of homosexuality would each have to take that posture towards this issue. It seems to me that most people who take a stance on homosexuality believe their perspective is the correct interpretation and that it's not an agree to disagree issue, which is what Chat GPT said. To me, you back this up right afterwards when you said that Jesus would not approve of same-sex unions. So clearly it's not an agree to disagree issue, which is what, in my opinion, Chat GPT claimed :)

  • @jonavery4978
    @jonavery4978 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My answer to the problem of evil (I agree, it's the sticking point for most people) is the fact of the obvious moral battle between good and evil in this world as being fundamental to creation.
    Because creation is not "finished" but rather is in the process of unfolding, God created humanity for a purpose. Because God is perfect it cannot be that humans who act in accordance with Evil are in any way "failing" at their intended purpose, even if they will be cast out in the final accounting.
    We can consider unrepentant sinners almost in the way that we consider scaffolding as being intrinsic to the construction of a building. A necessary component to bring about the completion of the structure, though not a part of the structure itself.
    I think part of this is that there may actually be a distinction between God, Jesus and the Holy spirit and the actual dead potential stuff of the Universe. God is the word at the beginning which brings the universe into being, but there is also the potential which he is transforming through the word. God and the potential are not the same in nature or in material, God being wholly immaterial and beyond the "stuff" of the universe. God is the sculptor, he is not the clay.
    The clay comes with certain impurities which, when acted upon create necessary impurities which must be worked through in order to bring the vessel into a more perfect order and from this, we get the necessity of evil.
    Fundamentally in this landscape, we were created as humans to observe creation as it unfolds. It is our very act of observation which re-ifies creation, so we can't fail in that task, no matter what choices we make, because it is the act of choice making that creates reality.
    This also nicely collapses the "when did the universe begin problem" because it doesn't matter how old the stuff of the universe is, it matters when it began to be "real" which was when humans began to be able to take account of it.
    Let me know what you think of this.

    I don't see why evil is so hard to explain given that God is a relational being and the center of that being is love. If there is no choice in relationship then there is no true love. With choice comes the chance of rejection. Reject love and your left with hate. Reject truth and your left with a lie. Reject good and your left with evil.

    • @MrMan-jf8yi
      @MrMan-jf8yi 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @user-mt2yc3uk3y While some believe an agnostic atheist is possible, the two are in opposition to each other. As to evil, God does actually limit the extent of it. God still has a plan and purpose for His creation that will not be thwarted but, as man chose to walk on his own, He allows us to experience what that will look like. He has let us see our need for Him. Man's depravity will lead to unspeakable evil as we are beginning to see that grow in these last days. God has also provided a way out through His son Jesus. The fact is, while you live in opposition to Him, you will never be able to come to a saving knowledge of the truth. If you seek Him out with a whole heart He will make Himself known to you. Perhaps this conversation may be the start of that journey.
