Holy shit these comments are cancer. Some people really can't stand to see a fast Honda can they? I don't get it. Does it touch on their insecurities? This car has the dyno sheets to prove its power. Factor in the type of dyno and drivetrain loss and he most definitely is at 400bhp. For everyone calling him an idiot for saying there is no boost by gear; instead of hopping on the hate bandwagon, how about you do a little research and see the stock 9th gen ECU cannot do BBG. To everyone saying it doesn't "look" like 400hp, I'm not sure what you're talking about. It looks like it's pulling hard as fuck to me. Considering in all of these videos even fast cars look slow, I'd say this looks plenty fast. Jesus.
Guys, it's a 4 cylinder 2.4L makes 390whp, means 1.2L puts out 195 whp, that's very Impressive, car only weights in at around 3000 pounds. Power to weight ratio, is amazing. Put it up against a 5.0L v8 mustang that makes 420 hp, my money is on the civic si, no questions asked. And the amount of money you spend on the civic si, would still be less than what the new 5.0 cost.
+TassieLorenzo thats the only way to run, 235 maybe 245 if can throw them on a 17x9.0 or 9.5, roll them fenders and some traction bars, traction balls and your good too go
+TassieLorenzo the stock tires on the civic si suck even completely stock. The all seasons are hockey pucks and the summer tires are a shitty/expensive choice as well. Anyone looking for a si should stick with the all season ones (dont pay more for the summer tire package) and buy a good set of summer tires off tirerack. any type of aggressive driving even in a straight line and I over power the all seasons in my SI. They're a fucking joke.
400hp or not, it's a really practical car all around. A bit of a sleeper, a bit of economy car, a bit of family car, and over all still a reliable car. I've never been really into the newer civics, but this ones quite charming.
So just to clear up a few things for the people can't comprehend the power level because they are going off gains from what ct site says. In addition to the CT blower is Vittuned aftercooler 2.95 pulley Fullrace down pipe Prl CAI Ported inlet ZDX big bore TB DW 65c pump 1500 injectors E85 tune The customer dynoed 390 and church automotive testing
Thank you for the facts, everyone is suddenly a pro tuner when they hear 400hp on a stock motor. K24's LOVE boost. I laugh when wrx owners push 20+lbs of boost and barely make 300hp lol
+k20z3allmotorFTW I think people are questioning it because in the beginning of the video video there was mention of the base kit, pulley and aftercooler and the kit is about $3500. It was said that everything else was stock. Later on in the video it was said that there was bigger injectors and fuel pump. He also said in the video that the exhaust was stock. So in reality there is probably about $8-10k put into this car.
I really love that Matt is not biased at all about where cars come from. If he is, he does an excellent job of making the videos and the channel as a whole simply about how well does the car perform.
This is pretty much what the original supercharged ariel atom had. If I can recall, it was a blown k20, low end torque from the blower and a nice curve up high from the v-tec. A nice powerful yet reliable package.
Props on the HD camera! It's been a little time since I've watched an episode, but this is nice! And the car is slick as well, been I HUGE Honda SIR fan, and yes I know the car is a SI. Big fan of the 4 gen Honda hatch.
My buddy had one of these for a while with some bolt-ons and Tiens. Its a really awesome car, the engine was a joy. It was super happy to rev and hitting v-tec was fun. The shifter i was incredible. The only thing was that it was a touch slower compared to other cars at the same price. This would have been an awesome upgrade.
I own a 2012 civic si as a daily driver, very capable machine - sharp handling (reminds me of my old s2000 ap2) but with better torque. Also puts out 30mpg all day.
I think I'd much more prefer having people that know about cars (particularly the car you're in) like Emmanuel here talking with Matt; it makes for much better conversation than Matt just blabbing on by himself. Great video as usual.
Love the one take and tuned episodes. It does seem like matt enjoys the honda's most but is always surprised. Giggles like a school girl when driving this, the fit, and the early 90s's EF civic. Im sure many of the other cars are a ton faster and more his style but the honda's get to him for sure!
Would it ever come to Mexico? I have a friend with a beautiful FA5 type R mugen RR transformation, supercharged with no less than 420hp and all the goodies track and drag ready, it's really worth the review +TheSmokingTire
Comptech website says 65-70 HP from this supercharger, +e85 lets be generous and say another 70ish from that. So looking at around 340, 400 might be generous but its in the rough ballpark, and with some other boltons and tinkering i can definitely believe 400
+Trevor Wray superchargers have a very high toque at low rpms(thats why pro offroaders use superchargers) compared to turbos but turbos have higher torque at around 4k rpms and loose all the torque on the top end, still depends on the turbo tho but one thing for sure is superchargers have more toque on low rpms.
+sweet dreams Yes but the k20 doesnt make a substantial amount of torque supercharged when comparing to cars that are known to torque steer, a la Mazdaspeed 3, Focus ST, and the other turbo hot hatches. Why do they torque steer.. because they make a lot more torque than the civic. I think your logic was correct in the days past, but with todays technology, turbos spool much quicker and have become much more usable low down in the powerband. Also, where a car makes peak torque doesn't really matter when talking about torque steer.
It must be rice b.c its a honda right? Fuckin idiots like you. There are more fords and chevys that are riced out then hondas. And the guy is not doing nascar or going 180 mph to need six piston brakes or coilovers. If he just got rotors and pads or even just pads and fluid and great tires the car would be copestetic. Also some kind of an exhuast upgrade to let all that forced air in out. But its like anytime someone even puts different tires on a honda people call it rice an dont know what rice means obviously. Plus its not youre car and it's definitely not ugly to look at so shut youre cunt holes.
+Nate C why would you need to upgrade breaks first if you don't have the power ? I own a 2015 civic si and the all around disc breaks aren't bad. I would go with just suspension modifications with the stock motor
I drive a turbo Honda and I DO have boost by gear.... Kpro AND other ems systems such as ktuner, neptune, hondata ALL support the outputs for boost by gear. It is almost necessary for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd if you are anywhere near 300whp.
too bad those SI's have those god awful electric steering racks. You literally have 0 steering feel. It's like driving a sponge dipped in petroleum jelly!
Matt, you do have a responsibility in these videos to keep honest, it makes the videos much more entertaining. even from just watching this i can tell it doesnt have close to 400hp or feel like it has 400hp.
He's the type of fella to be like.... My intake added 80 HP and my stickers nearly add another 20 HP. He's pushing no more than 300 HP until he shows the dyno numbers I won't believe it.
+Brown Mista.Brown maybe you shouldn't be morons. on an aggressive e85 tune and the car can boost more, it runs so cold he can boost more than the car can take
Making 390whp on church dyno which is slightly exaggerated. normally dynos is roughly 375whp realistically. He can make that +10 whp easily if he swaps the exhaust. I have stage 1 ct supercharger pushing 270whp on 91 gas. fun little daily
Well this setup has been on the car close to one year now and the only thing upgraded to the drivetrain is an exedy stage 2 clutch. There are people making over 500hp with stock transmissions, suspensions and cv shafts.
Second that! Was searching Internet for months to get Matts opinion on an AP2 - I made sure I fit, I barely do. And purchased one. I'm not officially a fan bio (owning two boosted subarus before) - honda's flow so well- boost is a godsend
Nik Brudar Not in this video.. looked slow. If I had to guess I'd put it at 300hp.. These cars aren't fast stock but they aren't terribly slow either.. with double the stock power it should be a rocket ship but from the video that simply doesn't seem to be the case.
***** Can't say for certain.. Really I've only ever seen 1 turbo Si and according to the owner that thing was right around 350hp or so.. and let me just say that thing was really violent Lol.
not a Honda fanboy but i love these sneaky little souped up civics.... honestly a respectable car for a young professional, and pretty derned fast to boot!
+SI RICKO Yeah at 11-12 lbs of boost, it should be impossible to double the horsepower. Theoretically at 14.5 you can double it, but then you have to deal with all the other restrictions from exhaust, valves etc. I'd believe 320 though. Of course, I know nothing about E85.
Loebane I have drove and have many fiends with sc 2014 si's on e85 and meth and fully stock just with the kit there not making over 320. Just by the passenger talk i can tell he don't know shit about hondas all he did was just install the kit. lolol
+Justin McMullen No? You have 2 sides of the fence on Hondas in the US. 70% of owners who modify their cars are low-income, budget boy-racers that just want to sound fast (And come across tacky). The other end of the spectrum are guys who modify with more taste and money, in which case they're still grouped into the boy-racer club. Either way there is still a big stigma of Honda drivers in the US, they act like Hondas are god's gift to man and nothing can beat them. As soon as they make any real money they usually abandon this way of thinking and trade up.
Why haven't I done this to my SI?! Wow. That's actually a fair price. Emmanuel nailed it when he mentioned turbo kits just no traction whatsoever. If you TH-cam turbo civic SI that's all you'll see!
This is what I meant when I was talking about turboing. People crying saying that I'm wrong and you can BBG a 9th gen si are wrong. 9th ecu's with hondata Flashpro does not have the outputs to control the boost
The 16's if you get the coupe sport I think are freaking sexy. But for personally my favorite version of the civic is the uh... forget which years they span through.. but i think the 2007-2009? But not the coupe that has the shorter tail lights. imganuncios.mitula.net/2007_honda_civic_si_black_in_city_industry_california_96770864174539925.jpg That one there, love those
Looking at comptech (C/T engineering) the cost is about $4700, plus install and shipping. That includes the cost of ECU programmer. Not $3500, but still a great deal
I'll have to bring my 8th gen once I finish putting on a Merc racing kit, it's a bigger blower with all the modern features unlike the m62 which has been around for decades. It's too bad I live in Chicago
cheap big front brakes on 8th gen civic are acura TL type-S 4pot calipers (bolts-on dirrectly to stock brackets) and S2000 discs, parts are easy to find because they are OE parts
I can believe almost 400 if he's running e85, he even aknowledges in the video that pump gas puts it down 60 horse and I'd guess probably even lower than that realistically
The civic si is about usable power for the money, its about making your A to B a little less mundane. keeping power on the low end makes it fun around town and highway driving effortless.
Love this build. Never was in to a supercharger till this video. Idk if i should do a kswap on my integra or just save a lil more and this this civic in the same setup. Not really a fan of the new type r. So what are your opinion people?
"This is Emmanuel...."
Oh thank goodness, it's not an automatic.
Oh fuck I just realized that's what he actually said 😂😂
+Bad Drivers of SE WI I went to go comment the same thing and of course this is the first comment down lol
+Bad Drivers of SE WI Si's only come in a 6 speed stick, no automatic bullshit here ;)

haha nope, people do not like fast Hondas. makes them feel inferior to know. The new Type R will bother alot of people.
KB98 lmao the hate is real when your a top contender... Honda makes the best four cylinder power plant.
Cool
KB98 You can't fix stupid.
I'm sure just about all the tools hating on Hondas will be nut swinging once the next gen si and R are on the roads.

+k20z3allmotorFTW I'm sure with the excitement it was hard to hit all the points about the car too. Awesome car though!
+MilkEnvy08 that only happens when they run stock turbo's (which are very small)
Dyno'ed @ 341whp and 251 lb-ft torque. Still awesome for a civic.
Do that to a k20r and watch
What’s the pulley size and from where
341 hp is like 550hp to a new mustang...horsepower to weight!!! So that's way to much for that car!!!
@@jaynosowsky9708 nope
I really love that Matt is not biased at all about where cars come from. If he is, he does an excellent job of making the videos and the channel as a whole simply about how well does the car perform.

And this ladies and gentlemen is the reason why I will be selling my Nissan for a Honda
Nik Brudar Altima 3.5
+DNALI isnt that the same motor of the 370z?
+Paul Rodriguez 350z
uh... yeah
bcuz vtec yo
i did the "Ooooo!" right when you got on it too! nothing beats the supercharger whine..
Did Matt turn Dominican at 5:20 when he says Police?
haha
+RetiefGoosen Haha good catch.
lol
+RetiefGoosen oh hi
😂😂😂
Props on the HD camera! It's been a little time since I've watched an episode, but this is nice! And the car is slick as well, been I HUGE Honda SIR fan, and yes I know the car is a SI. Big fan of the 4 gen Honda hatch.
That is a very unique, wonderful sound.
honda's are so responsive to boost, it's crazy they're not coming from the factory like that
They will be starting next near
+OGProps still FWD though :(
+OGProps whats happening net year?
+Jack Black They are replacing the 1.8l engines with 2.0l na engines and 1.5l turbo ones
Not a 1.5 FYI it's based on a k20
I'm speechless from that road...pure nirvana
That whine on the downshifts is magical
Matt!...is it really 400hp?
I highly doubt it gaining 200hp from a supercharger on stock internals
+Billy Benedict don't forget its on e85 though
I know I still don't think it's 400
+Audiwan Kenobi He said, close to 400hp.
+Jēkabs Drēska close to 400 like 280 :P
Great review, like always! Props to the guy and the shop that made it nice and reliable like that even in the mountains
"It's all stock" Oh except for these 37 things that aren't the supercharger....
Lol, right?
They're talking about engine internals.
Yea, the dudes ridiculous.
My buddy had one of these for a while with some bolt-ons and Tiens. Its a really awesome car, the engine was a joy. It was super happy to rev and hitting v-tec was fun. The shifter i was incredible. The Fulcrum you still drive it til today? If so how many miles have you put on the motor? Mines is bone stock clocked at 120K
where is the info on the shop in Ventura you promised at 11:18 ?
Did anyone else thought he said "this is a manual" instead of "this is Emanuel".
I think I'd much more prefer having people that know about cars (particularly the car you're in) like Emmanuel here talking with Matt; it makes for much better conversation than Matt just blabbing on by himself. Great video as usual.
Other then 5k in mods, its stock.
Lmao seriously
+bugattirocksful They mean stock internal engine and stock catback exhaust. I do hate it when they don't specific what is stock.
The 5k is the supercharger

So I can buy a Honda Civic SI and buy this kit and I have a 400hp rocket??
Correct
if matt says good stuff, I'll not talk my normal trash about honda and give a silent head nod of approval.
Would it ever come to Mexico? I have a friend with a beautiful FA5 type R mugen RR transformation, supercharged with no less than 420hp and all the goodies track and drag ready, it's really worth the review +TheSmokingTire
I mean, the program, would you come over?
+Jose Martin Lopez Neri no, not unless you paid me to.

whats the price for the kit?
+ChiTownRuler023 4095 on their website, not including hondata flash kit
no way its gonna pick up 70hp from e85.
+Aybars Gungor I think 65-75HP is without the aftercooler.
+taint115 I'm just going based off what the guy in the video said, but I agree 70hp from e85 sounds high
Matt seems like a solid driver.
nice, how did you find the torque-steer with double the stock HP?
supercharger delivers the power gradually, you can manage it easily with your foot
+Craig J Doesnt make the torque that the turbo cars do, so torque steer is still fairly non-existent

Not much torque steer with mounts and sway bars. S/C has a very smooth power band. Easy to control
The HD camera is absolutely fantastic.
nice civic no rice detected
I dont think it had any sticker on it too

+ModernDinosaur and the gearing is totally fucked for us roads
I have nor problem with it in my 8th gen. Less complicated engine bay and no leaks to worry about... Electric steering FTW
+ModernDinosaur Yea I one a base model as a get around car and it is pretty numb. Great for around town but not so much for tracking lol.
+ModernDinosaur as does everything else in it's price range besides a FRS/brz miata and maybe a fiat 500
BassRacerx yeah the brz and the 500 both have nice steering feel. Thank god, because mushy electric steering would of ruined the brz/frs.
Matt, you do have a responsibility in these videos to keep honest, it makes the videos much more entertaining. even from just watching this i can tell it doesnt have close to 400hp or feel like it has 400hp.
This guys shop is NOT in the description of the video.
Did anybody see that thing at 5:08?
a baby carriage
Lost all faith in this "builder" when he said that you cannot manage boost on a turbo setup.........
I remember you reviewing the blue civic si sedan way back. Great stuff. VTEC just kicked in yo
No boost by gear with a turbo... What?
+Beard Barrow That's what I was thinking. Boost by gear is totally a thing with turbos.
Kevin // @dapper_si well you can always get an aftermarket ecu
+Beard Barrow It's not available on that ECU. It's tire fire through 3rd.
Exactly I was like wtf I s he talking about???????
+vitviper2 Can you not use an aftermarket boost controller that offers stand alone boost by gear? Or is there an issue with tuning that in?
the supercharger wind sound is so great!
He's the type of fella to be like.... My intake added 80 HP and my stickers nearly add another 20 HP. He's pushing no more than 300 HP until he shows the dyno numbers I won't believe it.
I agree this guy didn't seem too exact with his numbers not very sure.
+Brown Mista.Brown maybe you shouldn't be morons. on an aggressive e85 tune and the car can boost more, it runs so cold he can boost more than the car can take
mrdauntl3ss Skeptical? Maybe but for one to claim they know and call others morons is just too far.
+Brown Mista.Brown no it's not when you can clearly estimate the power
Making 390whp on church dyno which is slightly exaggerated. normally dynos is roughly 375whp realistically. He can make that +10 whp easily if he swaps the exhaust. I have stage 1 ct supercharger pushing 270whp on 91 gas. fun little daily
I have watched this like a million times. I really wish the uk got the Saloon version of this gen of Civic
Relax guys, he said "close to 400hp." It could be 350hp.
On Comptech's website it says the Supercharger for the Honda civic SI adds about 65 horsepower.
+Nate C Not really, this car is being daily driven and has close to 20k hard miles on the kit so far.
Well this setup has been on the car close to one year now and the only thing upgraded to the drivetrain is an exedy stage 2 clutch. There are people making over 500hp with stock transmissions, suspensions and cv shafts.
AHAHAHH EVERYONE IS SO MAD .. He has about 380hp.. Get over it hes known on the forums.. move on
finally a honda civic that is not only modded to rice! kudos to the owner!
S2k review!
+StrangersMusik I dont think he fits
I second that
Lawnmower power!
Second that! Was searching Internet for months to get Matts opinion on an AP2 - I made sure I fit, I barely do. And purchased one. I'm not officially a fan bio (owning two boosted subarus before) - honda's flow so well- boost is a godsend
That's a very unique supercharger whine, I like
I have a hard time believing it's putting down 400hp.. That car is pretty light, at 400hp it would fly.
Nik Brudar
Not in this video.. looked slow.
If I had to guess I'd put it at 300hp..
These cars aren't fast stock but they aren't terribly slow either.. with double the stock power it should be a rocket ship but from the video that simply doesn't seem to be the case.
+Sigrafix add 2 big guys to the equation
*****
Can't say for certain.. Really I've only ever seen 1 turbo Si and according to the owner that thing was right around 350hp or so.. and let me just say that thing was really violent Lol.
+Sigrafix E85 man.
everybody the Si made 390hp it has a downpipe also
not a Honda fanboy but i love these sneaky little souped up civics.... honestly a respectable car for a young professional, and pretty derned fast to boot!
So putting $3,500 down for a supercharger, but doesn't buy brakes or tires?
...*facepalm*...
I know that road. Thats the road we take to get to the shooting range. Miss going there.
Mr. Emmanuel must not know anything about turbo setups... "No way to manage the boost...."
Boost solenoids don't exist I guess.
No of controlling it on factory ecu. Which is how we tune these cars. That's why I said no BBG on this car
I retract my statement then. Was a little misleading at first, for me.
On a Hondata or AEM, you can set up boost by gear or boost by speed, with a simple rear speed sensor.
Sorry but this civic is no where near close to 400hp 320hp if that. What he said about turbos facepalm. lol
Loebane
I have drove and have many fiends with sc 2014 si's on e85 and meth and fully stock just with the kit there not making over 320. Just by the passenger talk i can tell he don't know shit about hondas all he did was just install the kit. lolol
"You can't control the boost" Wut? Lol
+SI RICKO Guys, his supercharger is an M62. It's the supercharger they gave you on pontiac bonneville's in the 90's. This guy is delusional as fuck.
Skylar Garrett
yup
Can someone explain what a "after cooler" is to a non Honda driver? Just a inter-cooler?
Wait a minute... Wait, wait, wait a minute.... Are Hondas not considered a raging homosexual cars in America ?!?
+Justin McMullen No? You have 2 sides of the fence on Hondas in the US. 70% of owners who modify their cars are low-income, budget boy-racers that just want to sound fast (And come across tacky). The other end of the spectrum are guys who modify with more taste and money, in which case they're still grouped into the boy-racer club. Either way there is still a big stigma of Honda drivers in the US, they act like Hondas are god's gift to man and nothing can beat them. As soon as they make any real money they usually abandon this way of thinking and trade up.
+Justin McMullen nope
+Justin McMullen Only assholes think that. The majority of us enjoy these cars for what they are.
+Justin McMullen pretty much yeah
It doesn't matter how much money u have look at them, looks like a fucking Prius 😅😅😅
I love Hondas, but the new Si is so effing ugly exterior wise. The rear end on the new Si is so ugly my god!
Chris H the new civics in general look hideous
Agreed, anything from 2010 and up are ugly to me.. 2007-2009 were the better looking "newer gens"
Paul Williams yea i know!!
TylertheGeek28 same feel
The 16's if you get the coupe sport I think are freaking sexy. But for personally my favorite version of the civic is the uh... forget which years they span through.. but i think the 2007-2009? But not the coupe that has the shorter tail lights.

That one there, love those
Looking at comptech (C/T engineering) the cost is about $4700, plus install and shipping. That includes the cost of ECU programmer. Not $3500, but still a great deal
April's fools, no way 400hp
Hiram Rosa Jr. LOL
Matt, thanks for driving the car!
Honda guy... Adding 80-90 hp out of thin air.
What is the fuel mileage running e85 v 93 octane?
the people at the intersection were bike riding .....obliviously you don't cycle judging by your gut
+Bike Ride up Hills you could have killed 1 of them SPEEDING LIKE A NUT
You should go watch some cycling videos then, hot shot.
+heimatlos fuck cyclists.
great video i am glad to see hondas on the one take!
loving the one takes matt
So sick! There is nothing better than VTEC on Boost!
Mr. Farrah, how about a one take including your footwork? I'd love to see your heal toeing abilities in action!
I'll have to bring my 8th gen once I finish putting on a Merc racing kit, it's a bigger blower with all the modern features unlike the m62 which has been around for decades. It's too bad I live in Chicago
I have to admit it makes a pretty fun sound.
cheap big front brakes on 8th gen civic are acura TL type-S 4pot calipers (bolts-on dirrectly to stock brackets) and S2000 discs, parts are easy to find because they are OE parts
i like how the owner kept it looking stock. this is a nice sleeper
omg that quality of video, getting motion sick!!
lol, what that guy said about turbo "kits" not having boost by gear or by speed. That is so easy to set up if you want it.
This is the definition of a dream job.
Damn, as an ASE master tech, I fucking love Honda's.
The U.S. Doesn't get the new Type R until 2016 ?
that civic just changed my mind about civic as a lawn more engine
I can believe almost 400 if he's running e85, he even aknowledges in the video that pump gas puts it down 60 horse and I'd guess probably even lower than that realistically
I love the sound of the supercharger
Super cool view from the road
I know I'm like 7 years late how much is the fuel system upgrade and the aftercooler?
Please post a list of the mods on the Civic Si and what Supercharger model.
The civic si is about usable power for the money, its about making your A to B a little less mundane. keeping power on the low end makes it fun around town and highway driving effortless.
His shops not in the desc
One great advantage for CTSC is that it's CARB legal.
got balls opening up like that on a road with so much pedestrian traffic
My 9th gen dynoed at 350whp, fullrace DP and exhaust, dw 400 FP and KW Supercharger with 110mm pulley on E85.
vit viper ftw. Best Honda tuner hands down. Matt needs to drive my Acura RDX. maybe one day I'll make it to Cali from the east coast for a one take.
will the setup go in the civic automatic transmission?
Love this build. Never was in to a supercharger till this video. Idk if i should do a kswap on my integra or just save a lil more and this this civic in the same setup. Not really a fan of the new type r. So what are your opinion people?
kswap is going to cost you a grip. if money isn't an issue then by all means kswap the Integra and boost it!
this SI looks pretty sweet. wouldn't mind dailying it
Can I installe a super charge on my Honda Covic SI 2015 without having to change nothing else? please let me know I want it to be fast
