Well, the game does look good but it's a combination of a variety of illusions that makes it look like that but you can also see the technical limitations. So a good example is, the world on the whole is pretty linear. Whilst this area does open up a bit, it's still pretty small with not much happening in it, reducing CPU and memory constraints. For example, the number of AI (complex calculations) is very limited and there's very little going on in the way of physics calculations outside of perhaps the clothing on the characters. The lack of any blades of grass (with the exception of a handful near rock edges) indicates GPU and memory constraints again. It's like a PS4 version would have had far more blades of grass due to this. Now does this make FFXIII a bad looking game? No of course not, whilst there are graphical limitations, the developers carefully crafted the world around these limitations and thus we still have a great looking game. I'd love to see how it would look on a modern console.
The graphics and the music were great. But the pacing and gameplay were horrid from a design perspective. It was more of a tech demo than a game. Hell, like 90% of the story is told through basically reading an encyclopedia.

How much nostalgia...Unfortunately, in comparison with old final fantasy titles, only playing ffxiii is not enough to have a complete experience, but the complete trilogy itself gives very good memories... Hope they re-realease the trilogy remastered in HD for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Yeah I'm so mad that I can't play this on the PS4 and that they won't release a remastered version of this. This was a beautiful game. The reason we have FFXV.
I just booted this up on my Xbox One S last night and was blown away by it. Thought especially on a modern large tv the graphics would get mushed but it was literally the best looking game I’ve seen in ages. Even fifa 21 doesn’t run this smoothly
I have replayed 13 on the series x and currently redoing 13-2 and they look even better in 4k. Lightning Returns is my fav 13 game so can't wait till I rebuy the xbox version of that.
How is it that this was never ported to PS4? They have every final fantasy from 7 to 15, with the exception of 11 cuz it's online...but never porting the 13 trilogy to PS4 is surprising, especially considering most big PS3 games were doing that when the 4 first came out.
Correct me if im wrong, but with sidequests you help unrestful lcies right? And once you killed the target the lcies will become rested, and new datalogs will appear telling the more about the mythos of ff13? If this is correct, i hope that if the game is remastered, instead of just adding something to the datalog, the soul they saved would talk to them and tell them pieces of the mythos. This way players will no longer be angry about "learning the backstory of ff13 by reading the datalog". I also hope the party can teleport back to the places visited only once. With more sidequests on them. That would solve the problem with linearity. I understand that many players were excruciated with the "hallway" maps but being able to go back to these maps and get sidequests from them i guess will make players happy.
@@soldadoryanbr7776 I now have played though the SeX version of the game and it's a very gorgous game in 4k. It's how I remmebered it looking when it came out on PS3. 720p looks so crisp back then. I will rebuy the xbox version of XIII-2 and LR as well. LR is probs my fav of the 13 games.
This is a special game to me. I didn’t understand any of the criticism at the time. It was my first FF however. But I assumed all of them had flouncy, giggly cute girls like Vanille lol but she really bothered a lot of people. I thought that type of character was what most Japanese presented in their media. First time playing it I was still unsure on certain story elements - fal’cie , L’Cie, always mixing Cocoon and Pulse up with one another. But by my 3rd playthrough (over so many years) the whole lore makes sense to me. Maybe a Wikipedia check to brush up on. But the world and characters and themes and journey made it such a special first JRPG for me.
Im a huge fan of the Xenoblade games and this one reminded me so much of chronicles X (one of my favorites) but I always hear people talking sht about the game. Should I check It out anyway?
When I played this game I had like 9 years old, and I thought this game was good, and the battle system was fun, a bit bored and confused because I didn’t knew english back then. At the end made me cry seeing everybody being with their loved ones except Hope and that broke my heart even more. I wished this Final fantasy was different but 12 years later it feels like I wanna play this game again 🥴
this game wasn't even bad, most reviews gave this game an 8, which is a "good" game. it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. people just kept crying that it was linear as if ffx never existed. and I'm still waiting for an hd remaster, it seems like square has given the hd treatment to every ff game besides 13.
I think that the linear problem comes because except the last area everything else is not re-explorable unlike FFX where the game was still linear but most of the old locations where still visitable
Impressive enough, the Crystal engine worked so well for FFXIII and had some really nice graphical visuals for the time that it used by Square. Sadly it failed very hard for FFXIV Online. And later Square adapted and used the Luminous Engine.
I re played after 10 years again in 2020 the last fine Game from this franchice. Some people criticized this game in the past, they was wrong, compared with FFXV, this have a good History and characters with personality, the esence is everything.
I know that feeling. I later learned to like it but it’s thanks to FF13-2. Moreso than the linearity of the game, the less likable characters turned me off. Noel was charismatic enough and a more FF-ish character to give the sequel a chance. Plus it was $15 brand new on sale. The price dropped fast. I went back to FF13 later. Still don’t prefer the battle system though.

Yeah I'm so mad that I can't play this on the PS4 and that they won't release a remastered version of this. This was a beautiful game. The reason we have FFXV.
Can we make ports of this trilogy for the Switch?
I just booted this up on my Xbox One S last night and was blown away by it. Thought especially on a modern large tv the graphics would get mushed but it was literally the best looking game I’ve seen in ages. Even fifa 21 doesn’t run this smoothly
I have replayed 13 on the series x and currently redoing 13-2 and they look even better in 4k. Lightning Returns is my fav 13 game so can't wait till I rebuy the xbox version of that.
Man i still remember how long that hall was.
I'd say these are the best PS3 graphics for a multiplatform game. THE best PS3 graphics would be a hard tie between Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2.
How is it that this was never ported to PS4? They have every final fantasy from 7 to 15, with the exception of 11 cuz it's online...but never porting the 13 trilogy to PS4 is surprising, especially considering most big PS3 games were doing that when the 4 first came out.
Now if this trilogy got a remaster, just.........wow.
You should see this on the Series X. Looks like a remaster
I do plan to rebuy the games on the SX when I next come to play them.
@@OwtDaftUK I like your channel. I subbed
@@EpsiIonEagle Thx mate.
The cutscenes have higher res in the Xbox one/XS
@@soldadoryanbr7776 I now have played though the SeX version of the game and it's a very gorgous game in 4k. It's how I remmebered it looking when it came out on PS3. 720p looks so crisp back then. I will rebuy the xbox version of XIII-2 and LR as well. LR is probs my fav of the 13 games.
WTF? Is this ps3?
Looks really good.
I mean, crysis exists but this still looks impressive
Man I miss and love this game. Please come to PS4 and 5. I really don’t want to get a series x to replay it.
I wish this game were just one and were perfect. It's so beautiful.
Always loved the atmosphere of this untamed World 😍
I always loved the 13 trilogy. Beautiful.
When did the game open up like this? I remember it being incredibly linear...
Late In the game
Im a huge fan of the Xenoblade games and this one reminded me so much of chronicles X (one of my favorites) but I always hear people talking sht about the game. Should I check It out anyway?
FFXIII is a must play
You played xenogears?
Still don’t understand why it’s not remastered for ps4
I think SE would LOVE to repackage the trilogy and sell it, but it's black sheep for it's gameplay. Probably why they hesitate to do it.
Unpopular option: I would play the trilogy again
Nostalgia overload
When I played this game I had like 9 years old, and I thought this game was good, and the battle system was fun, a bit bored and confused because I didn’t knew english back then. At the end made me cry seeing everybody being with their loved ones except Hope and that broke my heart even more. I wished this Final fantasy was different but 12 years later it feels like I wanna play this game again 🥴
Play it again its probably like 6 dollars now at your local game store.
we love this game so much!
I don't think I ever came across a bug in it as well.
@@OwtDaftUK definitely they are the best graphics on a PS3 and to this day it still looks excellent!
Much more beautiful than all ps3 uncharted.
i wish they had lightning returns for ps vita :/
Ffxiii graphics are beginning to look dated, but they hold well. An exemplary staple of what good resources management can get you into
*Killzone 3:* Let me introduce myself
the time goddess
absolute respect
Game that i shouldve played on the ps3 when i had a chance
unfortunately one of the fewest ps3 games that had 1080p
this game wasn't even bad, most reviews gave this game an 8, which is a "good" game. it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. people just kept crying that it was linear as if ffx never existed. and I'm still waiting for an hd remaster, it seems like square has given the hd treatment to every ff game besides 13.
I think that the linear problem comes because except the last area everything else is not re-explorable unlike FFX where the game was still linear but most of the old locations where still visitable
This epic game should remastered or remake again..👍
Impressive enough, the Crystal engine worked so well for FFXIII and had some really nice graphical visuals for the time that it used by Square. Sadly it failed very hard for FFXIV Online. And later Square adapted and used the Luminous Engine.
In a way I wish modern games had these graphics with all the updated streamlined mechanics of newer games.
I mean yeah... but when you hear that battle theme when you touch a mob though...
I re played after 10 years again in 2020 the last fine Game from this franchice.
Some people criticized this game in the past, they was wrong, compared with FFXV, this have a good History and characters with personality, the esence is everything.
Easily best on the 3.
Gorgeous game that still holds up against even recent titles.
I really do not like this game, but I'd be lying if i didn't say it's one of the prettiest games in the series.
I LOVE FINAL FANTASY. 😍
Is the trilogy still worth playing? I never played it.
Yes.
Its like 5 dollars if you want the disk 15 on steam
i fall in love with this game
Great channel mate got you though Yorkshire Media mate just gave u a sub mate
Oh tah mate.
even final fantasy xii still hold up pretty well compared to today games
FF13 legit looks like a PS4 game made in 2010.
I hope they will port to switch someday
This game was a spectacle to behold. Cocoon in the sky opened so much imagination
Is it worth it going back to FF13 now? 🤔
Now imagine if they remake this game using unreal engine or maybe updated luminous engine Trust me everyone will starting to like this game even more
