In my opinion, what Nagato did was totally justified. Not only was Hanzo unwilling to just let them all go, but even after Yahiko was killed, he still ordered an attack even though he literally said himself that he’d let the others go.
that's the point, he was probably the most justified villain. The Hidden Leaf village and Hanzo brought destruction in his life. Obito used him as agreement with Madara and killed the poor original Akatsuki, Danzo brought Anbu black ops to collaborate with Hanzo who was manipulated and preferred to kill Yahiko and Nagato. Nagato found trust in Hidden Leaf thanks to Jiraiya, he was able to forget his parents trauma but Danzo and Obito at the end took that trust from him.
Assuming he was planning to kill them all from the beginning and oofing yahiko(worst case scenario but most likely) or nagato to get an advantage...was yahiko REALLY that strong that he needed to do that?cause Hanzo was pretty cracked,as far as he knew he could solo,so maybe he just did that because he is a scumbag

You can even also make a case for orochimaru being stronger later on because of more knowledge about jutsus, being able to use edo tensei etc. If you're talking about healthy young bodies and stuff then yeah I'll give it to you but I don't see the 3 sannin from later shippuden lose to hanzo again

At some point you have to give the guys his flowers instead of looking for ways to discredit him. Hanzo, could have been one of the coolest characters. Guy protected his village during wartimes and could have been remembered as a heroic legend. But instead lived long enough to become the villain, then was played by Danzo like a fiddle and died like a wuss at the hands of Pain.

Nagato as a child already had difficulties with the war, he saw his parents die, life changed drastically and he became a nomad, he went hungry, he had a dog -which died later-, and almost dying of hunger he had a hope. This was all when he was probably 12-14 years old. After that he saw his best friend die (by his hands), learned that his group died, and became filled with hatred, and lived by his friend's body. All this stops in death, Naruto making speeches on the jutsu and making nagato's life a waste of time. Nagato barely lived. I don't know if itachi suffered more than nagato; Of course, he had complications too, but they were in adulthood. A child has a much worse emotional state than an adult.

Uzamakii depends on which eyes he has at that time tbf. I believe a healthy Nagato with rinnegan is slightly stronger than Ems madara but once Madara gets rinnegan he destroys nagato.

@rex7on CORRECTION: it was not a metaphor. Come on now, just because he said Nagato is strong doesn't mean Nagato had reached his potential. Had that been teh case, he should've been an immortal (rinnegan user is beyond life and death). nagato chose to die w/o knowing full potential of rinnegan. Madara GAVE rinnegan (the eyes) to nagato, manipulated him as his puppet WITHOUT using any eye power. THAT is more powerful than rinnegan i think. :D
