The guys at Brainworx simply know what they're doing, since they came in the game they stepped it up tenfold! I have yet to try the AMEK but from your video you can hear all of its power; what I really like is that auto-solo on bands, which really lets you hear what you're doing with zero hassle, just amazing!
Thanks Warren! I got the Amex 200 over many months ago, on a sweet deal. It was a real game changer, at the time. It can really dial in some great tunings, especially on the low end. Great to see how in the box solutions just keep getting better and better.
Georgously simply laid out MasterBus EQ video hahaha. I love the Chandler Zender Bender Master Bus EQ myself but love to try whatever juicy "in the box" master plugins are help keeping us engineers employed 🧙♂🙌
I got a deal from the Plugin Alliance on the Mix & Master annual sub bundle that included this plugin. I messed around with it a bit but it was nice to see a demo from Warren. I will be throwing it on my master Buss and giving it a thorough workout. All the Brainworx stuff I've used has impressed me so far. Love the TMT modelling. I'm going to try the AMEK on everything.
Great Video Warren ! Thanks for this review. Plugin-Alliance also has the bx_digital_V3 which has the same auto-listen function as this AMEK, Mid/Side, Stereo, Mono-Maker, Stereo expander, EQ curve choices etc. etc. - really an amazing mastering plugins and it's on the master bus of many of my projects - the bx_digital_V3 has been among the best there is. What the Digital_V3 does not have is the TMT. That, to me, could be the game changer since these top plugins often find their way on my BUS's also. So if you have 6 instances of this across your mix and mix-bus, then the TMT could be the thing that really sets the AMEK apart from the digital_V3. Micheal White (Plugin of the week) also did a really detailed review on this plugin well worth watching where he goes into incredible detail for this AMEK EQ 200. In his review he mentioned how musical the AMEL EQ200 actually is. The EQ curves, according to him, are extremely precise and musical and enhance a master. For me, currently, the bx_digital_V3 does this on my mix bus and on busses. Awsome to see you excited about the PA products.... I own most of them and look forward to WINNING my AMEL EQ-200 here :-) Greetings from Switzerland
I was new to Plugin-Alliance last year so I bought a discounted MEGA subscription around Christmas time. Courtesy of the subscription, I've received access to the Shadow Hills Class A, SSL9000J, and this new AMEK EQ. In addition, they sent me a one time use voucher for up to the cost of the subscription. I've been moving away from Waves and closer to nothing but IK and Plugin-Alliance since they easily install on my desktop and my laptop without licensing hassles. I still use a few others that don't overlap, but great stuff.
This is a complete game changer plugin and I don’t say that often! Great walk through Warren, you helped me immensely in understanding all its functions!
Just downloaded it! I have the bundle subscription (a great value / option for those wanting to check out ALL their plugs without committing to buy any particular plug) anyway had forgotten to check that EQ out! Excited to try it out after watching :) Thanks as always!
Very impressive, I think it's greatest attribute is its simplicity. Can't believe how easy it is to achieve pro o/put .. Thanks for the excellent post.
Wow, what an fantastic tool. I'm new to production and engineering, but I can totally see the value in having the AMEK EQ 200. It reminds me of a diagnostic tool I would use to find performance e issues in an automotive context. Thank you Warren, PLP, Plugin Alliance and everyone involved.
The low end on this is really sweet. That sounds weird to say for a plug in but my 12" JBL studio sub loves it. I love how the solo doesn't cut out all of the other freqs. Great demo Warren.
I really like this review of this plugin. I have used the bx_digital V3 on every mix for a couple of years now, especially for the "mono maker". But I think this one can easily replace that for me. Thanks for such helpful information, Warren!!
Great video, Warren. Thank you. I love the Plugin Alliance plugins. Dirk and all the other girls and guy from PA make so many great sounding stuff and some very handy tools as well. The ADPTR AUDIO Metric AB for example is such an awesome tool for referencing. This AMEK EQ seems to be the latest amazing plugin from PA. I have to try it out as soon as possible.

Awesome and very informative video! I just got this yesterday from PA, and was about to dive in. I have it on my master buss in Studio One. Thanks for doing this!
Do you know of a reason why auto listen would not be working in pro tools only? I have the amek 250 and for some reason it does not solo the band when I press and hold on it , it works just fine in Logic Pro though

I really like the way the controls solo the freq range and the fine tuning of small amounts of cut and boost is great. Looks complicated at first glance but is laid out very well. I did enter the giveaway. 10 copies up for grabs is very generous especially considering what it retails for.

Plugin Alliance has another similar plugin, the bx_digital V3 (earlier V2) that I've been using for a long time on my master bus. It has some features that the Amek EQ 200 doesn't, like the choice between stereo and mid-side, a handy bass and presence shift, de-essing, dynamic eq, balance and correlation meters etc, and it costs less. Perhaps the Amek EQ 200 has more of that analog mojo, it has this THD feature that the bx_digtal V3 lacks,. and perhaps the eq is smoother sounding, I haven't tried it so I can't say. But I'd advise anyone to try-out both before buying.
My first ever time in a pro studio was over 30 years ago, a place called Twilight (nicknamed Twiglet) in Manchester city center. It had an Amek Angela desk, and to this day that is my idea of the perfect desk, it was almost magical, I really wish there was a plugin channel strip of that very desk. The other bit of magic in there was a somewhat unreliable Lexicon PCM70 verb and I have that a s a plugin and it's great and I don't ever need to take a screwdriver to it. I'd love to win this, but if I don't I am highly likely to buy it.
Trick on the TMT: It is more obvious when you crank parameters, so the reason it is so subtle for you is because you are precisely using it as a mastering EQ with no extreme settings, but try and see, at least that's how it behaves in other PA plugins I use.

Hi Warren. Hope you had a great Christmas time. Are you still happy with the Amek200 and still using it? If yes, what do you think about how faithful it is to the original audio source? Thanks a lot for your opinion on that. Cheers
@@Producelikeapro cool thank you. I'm thinking of sacrificing my 240 dollars voucher for it. It's 200 euros right now. Have a great time. And a healthy new year :)
Deffo gets use on dense metal mixes for me. Adds that magic presence and depth even when just activating the plugin. When you set the width wider, the bottom end dropped out a bit in my phones. Is that normal?
Phase incoherence will cancel out sub frequencies faster and more noticeably then other frequencies. Any tool that widens the stereo width is doing so by effecting the phase relationship between the left and right channels. The trade off if you use it on the whole frequency spectrum is less low end. This is why some plugs will mono the low end and then widen only the frequencies above a certain point, say 100 hz or so, so you can retain a solid low end. This is also why having multiple low end signals, say a DI bass and a miced bass cab will seemingly have less low end when summed then either individually. Warren will typically use just the sub frequencies from the DI, and high pass the miced bass cab before summing them, so that it retains the phase coherence of the bass, and keeps as much low end as possible. If you already knew this, I apologize, hope this helps. Much love.
The funny thing is that all the features you really like are present in their digital V3. I haven't found a reason to buy this one when I already have the V3 and other eqs. Maybe someone can convince me
Hi Warren, big fan of the channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I just want to go off topic and request something. I have been producing and mixing for two and a half years now professionally. However, I am always struggling with High End issues. I cannot understand how much high end is necessary in a mix. I like warmth in a mix, but usually when i reference my mixes with the top stuff, they seem to be a lot brighter. I'm just really having a tough time in perceiving the top end.. Can you give your insight on that?
Hi Warren, thanks alot. I know Dirk from the past, even if just briefliy, since we're from the same town and our scene wasn't that huge :). It would be great, if you could have a chat with him, what do you think?
Amazing looking plug-in. I barely EQ my two-buss at all (..maybe I should :-/ ).....That song is really bloody catchy. Got a really late 90s, Placebo sound to it. Who is it by again??
Ah haa. i went and looked it up and lo and behold 'Produced by Warren Huart.' Knowing more about you now Warren i can totally feel you all over that mix. its not my every day fare but I love it!! took me right back to being 18 or so even though it was recorded long after i was that confusing and wonderful age. Made my day that tbh.
The normal prices for bx plugins are high, but they have a lot of ways to get things cheaper. The subscription pricing options aren't too bad either (although I didn't even pay full price for that) and then you get this and a lot of other really great plugins.
@@TheSlickoify never ever. It's on sale now the first time for 200. It will take at least 2 further years from now to get to 99. I highly doubt it ever will be 49. But who knows? ;)

@@Tekkerue Unfortunately the deal does not extend to this plugin, or the Bettermaker, which I though sounded great... So alas, no, not convinced yet.
@@adsertheblade ah crap... you're right. I was going to get this or the 9000 J and neither one applies. Grrrrr!
@@Tekkerue I like being right, but not this time...
@@Tekkerue what are you talking about? That's crap :)
So if GML emulation is called Amek, will they call the Maselec emulation MCI or what? I was expecting it to emulate Amek Medici EQ or 9098.
This plug is so wonderful.. It sounds like money!!!
I could really use this EQ, it sounds great, good review....
I am sure you have used the UAD Massive passive, how does it compare
What a piece of kit ...
Great video sir. Thank you for the time
Fantastic content as always, thank you Warren!
i need that low end focus and stereo image on my master bus now
Hi Warren, thanks alot. I know Dirk from the past, even if just briefliy, since we're from the same town and our scene wasn't that huge :).
It would be great, if you could have a chat with him, what do you think?
Warren, what are the specs on your main Mac? Just curious on what a master like you are using to mix
Amazing!
Man, I love this thing!!!
Me too! Expect to see it A LOT Mario on my mix bus!!
You should interview Mix Engineer Jimmy Lovine on producing “Because the Night” by Patty Smith at the Record Plant. Best to you !!!
is warren's voice a bit more to the left?
Great video Warren. Thanks
Super EQ but price kills without mercy.
The normal prices for bx plugins are high, but they have a lot of ways to get things cheaper. The subscription pricing options aren't too bad either (although I didn't even pay full price for that) and then you get this and a lot of other really great plugins.
Just subscribe to the Mega bundle...Best deal on the internet
$99 now and probably can be lower with coupons!
This is a fricken awesome EQ. It costs to much for me being a music hobbyist.
Just be patient and wait for a sale. You can probably buy it for 49.99 in a few months.
Or get the plug in alliance subscription
@@TheSlickoify never ever. It's on sale now the first time for 200. It will take at least 2 further years from now to get to 99. I highly doubt it ever will be 49. But who knows? ;)
@@nichttuntun3364 last day of it now for $99!
