My favorite song by them. First heard it back in the 1980s when the lost cool music of the 1960s all came out on compilation albums. I dig it so much I don't need to play the record I can hear it in my head. Thank you for posting.
Beautiful song from 1967 summer of love ,sitting in a Victorian Cornish cottage looking out of the sash window with a cup of tea and some space cake ,really got that 67 vibe .❤
Thanks Ryan. The band were from Liverpool fronted by songwriter Jimmy Campbell. The song was their standout effort and this demo beats the official release version in my view. The video is from a short surreal Dutch film which begins musing about why people will do anything but read a book and then imagines a world in where that's all they want to do. The full film can be found on the archive.org site.
@@NorthernCitrusParrot Thank you for the insight, yes now i see pieces of that narrative in the footage after you told me that. Keep on keepin' on, you're doing good work with these projects.
I am a music collector and I collect all types of music the first time I heard this song about a year ago I went crazy or I might have been 2 years ago but this is a brilliant song especially the lyrics
If you can find the lyrics to this song, you’ll understand why they don’t want anyone to hear you got to find the lyrics sometime you can find some time you can’t

Wonderful song. The castle is Kasteel de Haar just outside Utrecht in The Netherlands.
The way the strings kick in at the end is so perfect, they should've kept them for the final version.
Agreed!

Who is this beautiful actress?
Wonder where the band is these days
Jimmy Campbell seems to have been the main creative force in the band and I think he died a few years ago...
@@NorthernCitrusParrot dreadful news but the music lives on! So underrated and needs to be more broadcasted. Love the 60s.
