    Most of you guys have seen on Instagram that we’ve been using the dump all this week. Absolutely a game changer for us. Couldn’t be happier (so far!).
    Do you guys run one of these or are you thinking about adding one? Lemmmme know!

    I installed a Pierce Arrow bed lifter/dumper. It coverts your original truck bed into a dump bed. So your truck still looks like a normal pickup truck, but you get the added benefit of it being a dump bed.
    I love it, I do not run a business, but I do a lot of landscaping at my own place and my friends and families places. Adding the dump bed feature has really made loading/unloading very easy.

    Been looking at these for a few years now. I would love to get one almost did a few weeks ago again but I keep thinking I would be giving up some room inside the bed as the bed on the truck I believe has more room then the dump unless you go up with boards. Also the weight is a concern and getting over the top edge vs a regular bed when loading grass and so on. Pros and cons you know but I am a little jealous. Congrats.

    I have had at least 10 dump inserts throughout the years... I have had Truckcraft, EZ Dumper and Downeaster. When I first bought one back in like 2000-2001 I could get the truckcraft unit for $1675! It was line $150 more for cab guard. That was cash and carry. The prices slowly went up to now over $3000... I did buy a new Downeaster about a year and a half ago it was only about $2600-$2800 cant remember... But I have used many of them.... They are very capable. Its good that yours has power down (motor runs going down) so you can lower it partially with a load without worrying of it slamming down. The first truckcraft units didnt have that. I like the tailgate design on yours as well the way the pins work. Some just have pins and clips you can lose. It would have been nice if it was a little longer however as you are losing about 6-8" between cab and insert. Im sure they had to make a universal 6 foot that fit in more trucks. These things will rust fast trust me... Spray it all down with fluid film or silicone spray at least a couple times a year to preserve it.

    I had a steel Truck craft bed insert that was a huge time saver for my landscape company. My next insert will be aluminum. The reason being the winters here in Utah and the amount of salt the state uses on the roads, the bed insert took a beating, the rust was a huge issue. I had sanded and re painted the insert as well, the part I did not like was the rust stains streaks it left on the trucks paint! Brian I agree with you the only good thing coming out of Ohio is the Dumper Dog! Huge Michigan fan in Utah! GO BLUE BEAT OHIO STATE!!!!

    Awesome Brian. I've had my EZ dumper bed insert for YEARS bought for 2500 with cab guard and tarp. New England has been having it's way with it during the winters great part is that the 800lbs it added to my 06 F350 it's the PERFECT ballast for my Fisher XV2!!! KEEP THE VIDS COMING

  • @tonyellison9014
    @tonyellison9014 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve had one for a few years now. Works great for grass and leaves and mulch. Caution in the winter if you have snow blower in back it’s very slippery. For dirt/rock I don’t put more than 1 yd at a time in, and make sure it’s loaded in center, having only one cylinder it’s a lot of stress on it specially if not loaded even.I wouldn’t go higher than one 2x12 one sides if your having to throw your bags into truck to unload. For leaves I have a leaf vac system on Trailer and put 8ft sides on truck. Again it’s a time saver/money maker and you’ll love it

    Very cool. I am trying to decide between a dump insert and a dump trailer. I like the dump trailer because it holds more and it is lower to the ground but I also like the price point of a dump insert. When your insert is empty can you notice the weight of it when you are driving?

    • @austinnipper6460
      @austinnipper6460 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My opinion would be the dump trailer for more room, less weight/better fuel economy, easier to park when not in use. This is probably cheaper and would work great if you don't have a need to haul much or much extra space for now, but in this business there will probably be times when you could definitely use the extra space. Btw, it's 1am now in NC and so I'm tired. If you'd like more of my opinion, just let me know before I waste too much time😉.

    I may have missed a video where you showed your window sticker for your truck but did you get the 5th wheel prep package? Also curious if you got the snowplow/camper prep and if it was beneficial for your plow and dump insert.

    • @ryanfoster7845

      @@BriansLawnMaintenance ok I ask about the 5th wheel prep mainly because I seen in the video where you visited Lica and you reviewed both his dump insert and yours and I heard you mention that they used your 5th wheel spot to hook up yours so just trying to decide what I need to spend the extra on and not. Not gonna lie bro but your business model fits what I'm tryin to do so your vids and advice here on TH-cam have been worth more to me than I could ever repay you. Foster Lawn Services is my company based in Sedalia, MO.

    Great video Brian. I think getting the dumper Dogg was a good choice because now you can bring along your mower when you need it for clean ups. With the trailer you can only bring one trailer at a time and it would be the dump.

    So are you going to get a leaf loader? I feel like the dump insert makes sense but to be efficient with leaves both on capacity and just getting them into the truck you need something to mulch them up/ get them onto the truck.

    @rayshml6551 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video as usual Brian! I’d love to see the comparison. My guess would be the stainless would last longer after years of abuse. Secondly I’d say start one board high so you don’t void your warrant and you can always add on if need be. OR you can find someone with a saw mill and get one huge piece for each side if they have logs big enough to do say and 2x20 (it’s still 1 board high, lol).

  • @whatyousaidbud
    @whatyousaidbud 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice idea but....... why aren't the chains on the inside? And why aren't the release pins/pegs mounted on the tailgate to save room on the corner posts and so they don't stick out sideways? Genuinely interested, you use it all the time so you'll likely know why. Also, not that it'll matter too much to you as you're only carrying leaf litter/tree debris but how much does it reduce your trucks rear axle payload by?

    Is “gravity down” an option?
    I was looking at dump trailers that had that and thought it was pretty slick that even if the trailer looses power for whatever reason you can still get the dump bed down by using the gravity down feature. I know it’s on a truck. But still. If you’re mid dump and the truck breaks down. How would you get the dump bed down for safe towing?

    Looks good. As for adding boards, I'd only go one 2x12 high. Just my $.02.

    I’m not sure if you have gotten this warning yet but here goes. You might want to think about where you are going to tie up those chains on the tailgate! Those tail lights with the radar in the Ford trucks are around $800 each and on a cold day that chain hitting it will crack them real easily! Trust me it’s not fun! Looks good tho! Cheers

    You can use a plastic bowl and lid for the controller. Cut a hole and n the bowl for the cord and use a rubber grommet.
