On the topic of button mashing, have you ever played Dynasty/Samurai warriors before? @@rustysqueezebox8 It's too long without substance. A lot of Ubisoft's biggest criticism stems from the fact that they would be better off with tighter, more linear stories. A lot of people (mostly the people that played the earlier AC games) prefer the tighter stories of the older games. There were themes and thoughts to explore and think about long after you finished those games. Connor was the best Character in the series when it came to this depth and nuance, but people hated him, so we never saw him again. Edward was a good second, but lacked the depth until later in his game. Both characters deserved longer games/more games. Eivor does not. Kassandra and Alexios did not.
@@someguy1365 i understand your argument i just didnt see it that way i really thought it was good. Dont get me wrong it'll never be as in depth as red dead 2 or the last of us 1 but for ubisoft it was pretty awesome
@@rustysqueezebox8 That's the problem at its core, though: The games are painfully average. When we see how open world games have evolved since Origins, there are bigger shoes to fill, shoes Ubisoft continues to fail to fill. They're fun, colorful romps, yes. And I'm not saying they weren't fun to boot up and waste 20-30 minutes on, but there simply isn't anything worth thinking about from those games. You play them and move on, no better off than you were before playing. They're not the moody, thoughtful games they once were. I can't comment too much on Valhalla outside the main story, but the gameplay loop lacked depth and the map lacked depth (which is a common criticism of all AC games, but it's way more blatant in Valhalla/Odyssey). If every node is either Armor, Ore, or a Weapon, I'm not too compelled to keep playing. Even more when I've already played a painfully lackluster narrative with a painfully flat character. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though.

And when it comes to combat GoT takes Valhalla, breaks his posture with the moves of 4 different fighting style, throws a smoke bomb, shoots a poisoned arrow comes back with dance of anger and finishes AC with the heaven strike and cuts it in half. That's about the huge difference in combat. And that's more important than grafics tbh

I like valhalla more, only because there's a lot more to do after you complete the story. After you complete everything in ghost of tsushima there's not really much going on. Most of the time you can't even find enemies because they're so random. Both are still very good games though.

GOT was definitely the best game I played in 2020. Valhalla was too long and very glitchy to begin with.
I dont understand the criticism of valhalla being too long its a single player game wouldnt you want it to be long? I sure know i do
@@rustysqueezebox8 It's too long without substance.
