I owe Prodigy a debt. Their avant-garde style and incomparable sound coaxed me out my shell and lead me to exploring and enjoying heaps of edgy electro beats that I wouldn’t have had the pleasure of. I remember first hearing Firestarter and watching the film clip on Video Hits or Rage. It was more than 12 year old me could get my head around. The sound was compelling at the time, it wasn’t offensive to me, just totally different to anything else I’d heard. I think it was Keith’s look and the songs lyrics which had me question my bearings on occasion... I figured it was probably a gimmick, tho intrigued. Then I heard ‘Breath’ and was like ‘Hello’... these sounds may have some legs. By the time I’d heard ‘Smack my Bitch Up’, I knew It was safe to conclude that we were both edgy, disco piglets in an oft uncertain World and if nothing else, I’m richer for having experienced them. 😎🥰🇦🇺🙏🕺 Amen.
