  • Apologies as I had problems with the sound quality on this video.
This week's video is a follow up to video no. 106 where I tried out and reviewed Derwent's Graphitint water soluble pencils. In this review I use the same view that I painted with the coloured pencils but this time using the paints from the same colour range. I didn't do full justice to the subject but the idea was just to experiment with the paints. I found the paints easy to use, with good quality pigmentation and a good consistency. This is a great set to use for autumn or winter colour palettes.
This video is not a paid for video by Derwent or anyone else. I purchased the product entirely myself. I would recommend the set as an addition to basic painting materials, but the colours would be too limited to be used a sole paint set. Derwent currently do eight different colour palettes in this range and I feel if you were just wanting to buy one set, as a good "all round" set, then I would go for the "Intktense" set. I recently reviewed the "Pastel" pan set and if you want to look back at that video then it is Video No. 116 on my channel.
I hope you enjoyed watching the video and will be inspired to have a go. Please "like", "share" and "subscribe" to my channel to help me make more videos. Many thanks for watching and as always.......
    Happy Painting!

i love how they dry with a graphite sparkle. You can also burnish them, i use the rounded end of a spoon but im sure u can use other tools that artist have in their arsenal x love Alli XXX

I think the sparkle is definitely from the graphite content. I've never tried burnishing them, I will have to try that! And interesting to use a spoon. Will try that too. Thanks Alli. Carie. X

I have the graphitint mixed media set and what to get the additional colors.
I love the almost Asian feeling of the paint.

It is quite a granular paint texture. I assume that's the graphite content in the pigment. Regards. Carie. X

Your work is gorgeous. This set is great. I also have the line and wash set, which is lovely. The want monster has been set loose, so this is next on the list

Thank you Sara for your lovely comments. I'll have to look into the 'line & wash' set, don't think I've come across it. They are very good paint sets. I also have the pastel set. Happy Painting and thank you again. Carie. X

Does anyone know if the finished artwork will smudge or is dusty? I use sketchbooks and worried it might come off onto the other page...

I don't know if it smudges. I don't think it would if you've added water to your pencil drawing but probably would if not. You can always spray with "fixative" which stops smudging on pencil and pastel drawings, but don't do it until it's finished as it does change the texture. You won't be able to erase anything afterwards. The other thought is to keep a piece of tissue in between the pages. Hope that helps. Regards. Carie. X
