  • Having trouble with Derwent Inktense? I'll show you how to tackle three common beginner's mistakes in this video: overloading pigment, visible lines and streaks, and not letting things dry.

    Your work and books that are all hand done is a great inspiration.
    All the nice hand writing to describe the nature you have captured with artistic beauty.
    These books are priceless. I so love your work.
    Thank you for sharing.

    I bought some more inktense pencils today. I'm slowly building up my collection. I've not used them yet but I have made the mistake with watercolour of not letting an area dry before adding a new colour. A mistake I'll be aware of while using inktense.
    Thanks for the tips :)

      Nice! Yeah, it is just like watercolour in that respect, really worth being that extra little bit patient 😊

    I’ve never heard of these style of pencils. I’m not great with watercolor but there seem like an extremely appealing middle ground between watercolor and something like markers, which I prefer. I love that you can layer without the colors reworking.

      They definitely are, they suit me much better than watercolour. Might be worth a try for you 😊

    I've definitely overloaded and given up because I don't like the intense colours (I know they are called inktense for a reason! Thanks for the useful video.

      You're welcome - they can be made very soft and subtle when you know how 😊

    Wax bloom when using the pencils for final details…there’s a shine like with colored pencils and it doesn’t look right. How to avoid that issue?

    • @AlexBoonArt
      @AlexBoonArt  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmm, well I never use them without water as I don't really think that is what they are intended for. If I were to add final details in a pencil, I would probably opt to do it in Procolour or another dry wax coloured pencil 😊

      I prefer the Arteza ones but watch this space as next month's planned video is all about water brushes 😃
