I had the pleasure of watching Gilles race in Montreal in Jun. '81. In my mind he was the greatest racer for ALL time. I also had the pleasure of getting his autograph at the same event.

I cant believe they kept it going in these conditions. I cant believe the cars kept running either. Crazy and hilarious. But then its the 70s- back then if you were anxious before driving home someone gave you a drink to help you calm down. This looks like fun for sure.

Fantastic old FA stuff. I remember watching the Atlantic cars run Laguna Seca and Riverside and not a Toyota engine anywhere around.
Back in the day (as in the video) the Atlantics had Ford BDA motors - essentially one side of a Cosworth DFV :-)

Supreme talent and brave. Such a pity he let his emotion get to him which resulted in him losing his life at Zolder.
