Man, Tony never had a chance did he. Growing up in that toxic environment its no wonder he's so screwed up. Tough gangster father and narcissistic emotionally distant mother. It explains why he is the way he is, but as Dr Melfi said, everyone has free will and the choice to learn from the past to be a better person or just repeat history and be just as or even worse of a human being.
Idk, I feel like he had a good father even though he was a gangster. He reminds me a lot of my old man, just from the few flashbacks I've seen of him (including the flashbacks from future episodes) he seems like an good dad. It's his mother than ruined Tony, and from what he says it sounds like she ruined his father too.
The beautiful thing about The Sopranos is that the New Jersey mob setting is all background noise. The show is quite possibly the deepest piece of entertainment ever created. It's about the philosophical, psychological, sociological, criminological, etc. In short, it's about nothing more than life in America.
I wouldn’t want to give her the wrong idea. Compared to Breaking Bad and to a lot of modern serial dramas, this is a more episodic and character driven series. In some ways even more so after season 1.
@@liteflightify yeah, thats why sopranos is getting better and better after every rewatch. They didn’t rely on cliffhangers and tense moments but on characters and dialogues. It’s a piece of art. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea though and i understand why some people who watched Breaking Bad first are disappointed and bored even.

I enjoy every scene with Livia, the actress is amazing
Down Neck is a neighborhood in Newark, NJ
This show is a slow burn. Lots of character development with big payoffs at the end
Livia was based on David Chase's mother, though he didn't become a mob boss, just a lifelong depressive.

That's what I say as well - it's not really a mobster show.
OMG.... 🤣🤣🤣... thank god you didn't edit out your hiccup fit.... totally caught me off guard... great job...
Hold your breath for 10 seconds. It murders hiccups.
My mom is exactly like Tony’s mom, unfortunately.
There is a prequel series in the works about Tony's early days, with young Tony being played by James Gandolfini's son.
A movie. Being released in September I think
The Many Saints of Newark i believe its called, hopefully it will be decent because it has some big shoes to fill with the series.
Love me some tony soprano
Yayyy keep it up! Similar to Breaking Bad this a show that takes off running once the first season ends

My hiccup cure: Hold a deep breath and swallow three times. Works every time.
Mariokart for nintendo 64 was the absolute tits back in the day.....no rainbow road from 3 weeks would have made me cry too.
