One thing to realize about why Christopher walked out of the room, is that Tony is basically a father to him. He looks up to him for everything. And all Chris’s life everyone around (including and especially Tony) has preached this macho tough guy bullshit. He was always taught that something like therapy is for weak minded people and pyschos. We see Tony continuing these ideas when Chris is struggling with depression in episode 8. They openly mock suicide and depression cases with each other in the car. To see Tony admit to not only being depressed, but seeing a psychiatrist is bringing his entire world to a stand still. The man he looks up to the most just admitted to being something he was taught BY THAT MAN to reject.
The thing about the mob and the way they react about Tony seeing a psychiatrist isn't just about the way it isn't macho and manly, it's also about breaking the code. They have the code about not talking about your life with anyone, so there are no loose ends, and Tony talking about potential sensitive material to a shrink is dangerous for the whole organisation. So it's not about being progressive, it's simply about not talking about the skeletons in the closet. By the way, love your reactions!
Tony didn’t lie when he said "I didn’t burn your restaurant" because it was Sil who did it. It’s the same situation when Kate asked Michael did he kill Carlo and he said no because Clemenza did it. But yeah, both Tony and Michel are responsible but they didn’t lie:)
@@maxeyre2024 They do but that’s not the point. Point is that they do not feel responsible because they were not the ones who did it literally. That’s how mob bosses manage to sleep at night.
Duh Istoka Fair point, but keep in mind Tony has directly killed people too, for which he is absolutely responsible. He also certainly has his fair share of psyche issues, granted.
@@maxeyre2024 True but again it’s the matter of guilt. Those who Tony killed personaly where the ones that in his head, were doing things against the family and that’s why he doesn’t feel guilt for killing them. On the other hand, Arthie was totally inocent and that’s why Tony ordered Sil to do the bad thing. Mobb bosses get involved personaly when it’s the matter of family but if it’s something that just scratch the family then they give orders.
I actually think Tony's mother might have faked the stroke to get out of the nursing home and into a hospital, making it harder for Tony to get to him. I'm not sure how convincing one could fake a stroke to a paramedic, but considering it happened right after her second hit on tony failed, it was just too perfect timing to be a coincidence in my opinion. This is just speculation on my part tho.
S2 and S6 Spoiler Alert: What's interesting is you really can't know for sure. She starts doing things that show she's getting old and losing it, like setting the mushrooms on fire or hitting her friend with the car, way before she had the stroke. By the end of S2 we know she has dementia because she tries to kiss Tony. It's unclear when that happened exactly, because her mind is still there early on. She's an old, hostile, dangerous women, that doesn't go away even with the dementia. A lot of people even get angrier and more difficult because of it. Uncle Junior shoots Tony in S6 when he's far gone, he's an old confused gangster. On the other hand, it's entirely plausible she faked it because it's something she would do.
@@deltoidable I did not read your comment because I just first finished season 1. But I just want to say THANK YOU for putting spoiler alert. I’ve been getting constant spoilers everytime I watch anything that talks about this show. Even when I went into Reddit threads that said NO SPOILERS PLEASE, the first comment I see are spoilers, almost like they do it on purpose. I’ve spoiled for myself almost every show I want to see
His mom didn't have a stroke. Right up to the very end she's still fooling you, even after you sussed her out. She faked the whole thing to get herself somewhere safer because she knew with Junior out of the picture, she was next. And as you saw, Tony was preparing to do just that with that pillow.
now that youre done with season one youre in for season after season of AMAZING TELEVISION, the sopranos is one of those rare shows that gets BETTER AND BETTER EVERY SEASON
Editing out the conversation between Tony and Carm in the bedroom was a bad call. "Psychiatry and cunnilingus got us to this," one of the greatest lines of all time.
he was hallucinating because of the new medication she had put him on, ie when she says "stop the medication" at the end when he realized isabella wasnt real

No matter how many times I watch this series, Paulie never fails to crack me up 🤣
Junior too. Funny asf.
Hehehe in Paulie voice

Congratulations on finishing Season 1. Now the fun really begins.
So true, best seasons from 2nd to 4th imo, specially 3rd
Diego Corredor All the seasons are brilliant! I really find 5 and 6 epic.

Junior, Too much pride to say that Tony is the real boss, even if it would guarantee his freedom.

Okay well I mean come on, literal or not, Tony and Michael are both totally lying to Kay and Artie’s faces... like they know what they’re doing.

Thankfully, they didn't kill all Junior "friends", here comes Bobby, for season two! My favorite character, I think.
Junior's pride saved tony if he cooperated it would mean admitting tony played him
