So weird bringing up Goodfellas in that dinner scene, when Lorraine Bracco was the lead actress. :) And then later Christopher shoots the guy at the pastry store in the foot, which is what happened to Imperioli in Goodfellas.
Well, in one episode Meadow quotes something about how in life you have to choose between boredom and suffering, which I consider nonsense, but I can tell you, having suffered the ultimate hell that I've never heard of anyone else ever suffering for 12 years now, boredom is infinitely preferable to this.
The toxic masculinity is a constant and such an interesting part of the show. Especially when it comes to dealing with emotions and mental illness. Tony and the next generation in general would benefit from talking to someone about their issues. But of course to protect their masculinity and the code of omerta within their gangster lifestyle, they refuse to allow themselves help. Cos irrational emotions is for women right? The scene between Tony and Christopher and how they dismiss depression and genuine feelings of guilt and blame their physical health as the reason for their deep rooted issues was so funny and yet so damn sad. The Sopranos does a good job at using the mob culture as a way to explore the complexity of the human condition and different aspects of life that everyone can relate to. That's what seperates it from typical boring generic gangster stories. Every character is so complex and human. Especially with the focus on Tony Soprano as the protagonist.
While he is mentioning movies (during the dinner conversation) Anti-defamation do bring up the point about how they are represented in movies and cinema. Just like long ago Black organizations complained about too many or most depictions of black people in tv or movies would be criminals and gang members. The Italian community and mobsters is a little more nebulous as you can't really make a movie or tv show about The Mob, and have them be anything other than Italian. So are you just not supposed to be able to make mobster movies? Or is the argument more that sure mobsters need to be Italian in movies, but are Italians being represented enough in non mob movies in more positive roles enough to balance out?

_"Hey Poppin Fresh, I'm in no mood today"_
The dinner scenes when he mentioned good fellas and godfather dr Melfi was in goodfellas. I just caught that
That in goodfella Chris gets shot in the foot. Just like he shot the guy in the bakery
Bracco who plays Dr. Melfi was originally offered the role of Carmilla, but felt that it was too close to her role in Goodfellas.
Ohhhhh It's Spider
I'm glad you caught that Savage, very observant. The sacred and the propane.
