Toyota FJ Cruiser With Electric Rear Windows In This WILD FJ!

- 90% unseen footage was used to make up this video breaking down one of our favorite builds: the Toyota FJ Cruiser. So good we built it twice! This is the second version of the FJ for our shop. This build was to showcase an attempt at bringing the electric rear windows we call 'The Buddy Window System' to consumers. Every detail of the rear doors was to save costs. Everything else on the FJ was built to be badass.

It is incredible how different it looks, from the innocent stock FJ, to this offroad monster.
And the Buddy window is the most OEM looking but actually handcrafted mod that I have ever seen in a car.

If you look back over some of our past FJ videos you'll see the rear windows are something we have been working on making available to the public. It's the whole reason we built this FJ in fact. So we are still struggling with the internal door panel pieces...then...keep your eyes peeled!

Hi, the build looks incredible. When will the electric windows be available in Australia? Is there any approximate time line as when they will be out? Or, even the roll down version.
We will only offer a full electric model. We are still trying to sort out the plastic door panel parts Adrian designed. Once we have those they'll be ready to go. We will announce the release and pricing here.

Is the stock stereo bad? With that Magnussen Supercharger we haven't even turned it on.

Sorry to report we still have not been able to find a company to do the plastics that meets our standards. We will post up a video when everything is all completed. The good news to take from this is we are just waiting on those plastic pieces. All the glass, and window regulators and other parts are ready and waiting. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Daryl. I have been in communication with brendan Lennon in regards to the release of the buddy window kits. He told me to contact you directly to try and get some info on the release and myself and 5 other FJ owners are very interested. Myself, I want these as soon as possible.
We don't have a release date yet. We are still having issues finding a shop here that can handle the production of the interior plastics we need to finish this project. We will release a video when these are completed and the pricing! Thank you for reaching out.

Thank you so much! The Buddy Windows are still on track for a release. But like everything about making these for the mass market we've hit a snag. This last one before they hit market is the interior plastics. We need to get someone to make them and meet our price and quality standards.

We thought about it. Based on the livery for the 4Runner, Tundra, and Tacoma those builds had much longer bodies. We felt this shorter profile needed a bit more red upfront to complete the look.
Are the Buddy windows in production?
Sorry, no, not yet. We are still working on the 3D printed interior plastic caps needed to hide the cuts to the OEM panels.
how did you remove the c pillar windows i have a gull wing and i tried to salvage t it but and up putting by bit throughout the thing
We have a glass guy that comes in and takes care of the more difficult windows!

We looked into it, but the process would have cost too much. We still would need to send the panels out for scanning. But you'll be happy to know we have finally found a solution and we should have an update real soon! We are so excited to be able to close the book on this build!

We plan to push these to market once we can find a company to produce the plastic parts we need for the interior panels.

Update please
Still having issues finding a shop to build the plastic panels for the interior door panels to fit our standards. Once those are done we can finally complete this build. This process for the panels has been going on for about year. We changed the direction last minute to make it more cost effective for the end user but now we have to get a shop to commit to building these panels.

They are not production ready. We still only have metal prototypes for the interior caps for the cuts needed to the plastic panels. We are trying to find a company to replicate them in plastic that meets our criteria. Thank you for the patience.
Can you come up with a price for everything but the plastics and we can purchase the plastics when u get them manufactured?

We currently do not take on client cars. But we will see what happens in the future.
I grow tired of seeing these windows and never knowing how I can purchase them..
We can't really console you. We are still working on completing them. So until they're to our standards we won't be selling them. We believe there is only really two answers to your problem...patience? Or pretend they don't exist. Then when we release an announcement video for the Buddy Window System you'll be able to be happy and relieved. Thank you for your patience.
for me is a waste of money ,better if you replace the headlights and the rear lights assemblies for good leds , the front grill in black and the fender flares black and dont paint it just wrap it
But we didn't see any issues with the OE Toyota lights or the grill. We figure there are people out there who would want to focus their builds on the lighting. As for a wrap, we discussed doing a wrap early on, but when it came time we felt painting it would be more of an impact. So maybe not a "waste of money" but a different use of money than what you'd spend it on?
You could sell this baby for $130,000.
We love this thing so much. It would be hard to part with. For $130k? That might ease the pain.
