I agree! That’s why I like Hitman so much: every centimeter of every map is so rich with detail and life that you never feel like the world is just there to be there

      100%
I'd take that everytime over a large, empty world

Great video Shelf! Sometimes it feels that games get open worlds because other successful games have them, developers can sell the endless possibilities to players and no one tells them not to.

W take, I don't wanna have to walk a mile (sorry Europeans) to do each objective, I want game and I want it now, I didn't buy a walking simulator.

Can't believe you would uno reverse me like that with the imperial system. That said, if you're ever looking for an actual walking simulator, I recommend "The Beginner's Guide". Phenomenal game

As a millennial German I experienced the best example of this. Gothic VS Morrowind.
While the first had a way smaller but more filled world the second had a gigantic world of nothing.
Till today I can start gothic every now and then, but Morrowind is so generic, there is no need for it when there is basically the same game in better with newer elder scrolls games.
Gothic 1 and 2 on the other hand differ enough that both are worth a new playthrough.

Yup that's exactly what I mean. I definitely prefer smaller worlds with better experiences over emptiness
