  • In this episode, I use my 100W CO2 Laser from APLazer to cut and engrave a wooden inlay in walnut and Purple Heart. I go over how to discover the kerf of your laser and how to use kerf offset in Lightburn.

    Interesting. I just saw another TH-cam on kerf. Things I knew about for other crafts and didn’t realize I’d need for laser.

    Hey Nick I'm not sure if you have done this before but I think a shop tour would be cool!! I'm in the process of setting up my new small shop and would love to see your layout!!

    Decent video. The black finger nail paint is kinda distracting.

    Great stuff! kinda how I thought it 3would go but glad to see someone else do it first so I do not waste material lol. Only question is do I want an inward or outward kerf cut?

    • @BuildDadBuild
      @BuildDadBuild  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on which side you’re removing the material from.

    Very nice! I assume off-camera you have changed the kerf setting from 0.1 inch to 0.1 mm at some point? Cause that's a big difference, like 25 times 😁

      Yup. The computer stuff was shot after the project.

    Would this be possible to do with the d1 10w laser?

    • @BuildDadBuild
      @BuildDadBuild  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. But something that large would take a LONG time. Keep in mind the engrave took almost 3 hours with my 100W CO2.

    Great video man! Background music is really distracting though... your nail polish is not, ignore that guy.

    I don’t get it. What determines whether your kerf is positive or negative? You spent 1 min in lightburn during a lightburn tutorial and most of that was changing colors man….. can you please explain….

    • @BuildDadBuild
      @BuildDadBuild  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Negative kerf is inside and positive is outside.

    My Alpha will be arriving next week and I'm YouTubing the hell out of these videos 🙂 As a final finishing/sanding will be needed, IF the amount of inlay material is less that the base wood that it will be inserted to, should the inlay height be a bit higher than the base wood, then, the sanding will even the inlaid layer smooth? That way the inlay piece won't sit too low into the base wood and the total amount of sanding will be less.. Thanks for the video that DID answer my inlay process questions.. Hank
