    @5:30ish, one thing I want to add to that topic is that for anyone who love the film simulation of fuji, plz don't hesitate to shoot raw, you can still get that film look in photoshop.
    My approach is in Camera Raw, first to adjust the white balance and exposure, then go to the Camera Calibration section, change the camera profile to whichever film simulation you fancy (same as those in your camera), after that you can work on other settings as you normally would. Cheers

    Why do you set your base ISO to 800?

    • @saigonproducer
      @saigonproducer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      to force higher ss to freeze motion.. in low light, he doesn't mind noise because the fuji noise is actually pleasing to the eye if it's there

    Well, I see I have very late to this discussion, but I just discovered you via Jamie Windsor, and very glad to have done so.
    When I got my first digital camera (Canon Xsi), I learned very little from the Auto setting. However, I learned a great deal from the P setting. I don't know about other brands, but with Canon, there's a big difference between the two. In Auto, one gets to select nothing - Not even back button focus. However, in the P mode, one gets to use back button focus, adjust ISO, exposure compensation, and select focus point or type. The Main Dial controls aperture and the Multi-Controller, as it's known on my 80D, controls exposure quickly. So, when I'm pressed for speed, it is the setting I use, then rapidly make any changes that need to be done,

    I shoot mostly on black and white film: sunny 16 rule, FP4+/RolleiRetro80S both pushed 2 stops, closed up shadows, aperture as small as possible to be able to use hyperfocal on Rollei 35. I want to be fast to catch the action, so I don't need focusing.

    I've found with street photography that if I put my Fuji x100 on f2 and 4000 I'm able to get a sharp picture. Maybe I should try f8 and 500 and bump the ISO up

    Just bought an X100T. Awesome camera. Its the first camera, after a Nikon D5300 and the Fuji X30, where I want to use manual rather than auto. Do you use the optical/rangefinder hybrid viewfinder or the EVF?

    Great video, Pablo, but on one point I strongly tend to disagree: when shooting on full automatic in the beginning, you learn nuttin' about how and what the camera does ("You know nuttin' Jon Snow"). So any troubleshooting attempts when the camera is misbehaving are nothing more than stabs in the dark.
    Or how would a newbie tell an out- of- focus- image from a long shutter blur? Not by full automatic, that's for sure.
    Of course, when you first get your camera, go and shoot in P, get a feel for the buttons and dials.
    But then, like riding a bike, you need to be let go, shoot in full manual and experiment. Digital is cheap, shoot your pet til it falls over, but know what setting does what. There is no king's road to experience. Learn to fail, and then, you return to full auto, but by then you glance at an image and know instantly WHAT setting to change.

    how about the XT-1? I have been looking for Fuji cameras for years, still haven't made my decision

    • @czz7188
      @czz7188 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      now is a very good time to get the XT-1 if you no really obsessed with getting the fastest autofocus or zooming in to use every pixel there is. A new xt-1 body would only cost you around $900 these days.
      if you want almost all the latest features fujifilm offers then you can choose the xt20, but that would comes with a smaller body and evf. xt20 would cost you about the same as the xt1.

    where you walking to? A whole video of someone walking and talking with a cute overconfident "I think I'm cute" smile. You could get to the settings already.

  • @piotr803
    @piotr803 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do you set base ISO at 800 not say 200, which would result in a less noisy picture, no?

    • @PABLOSTRONGVLOGS
      @PABLOSTRONGVLOGS  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Piotr Zuralski I find 800 is still great quality and it means I can favour a faster shutter speed and open aperture

      kenny chan that's a Fujifilm X100 S or T. Either way, those cameras come with a 23mm f2, which is about a 35mm equivalent.

    5:55 also what's with your cuts mid-sentence? You're literally in the middle of a sentence and then suddenly it cuts and the location and the time of day is different. It really takes you a half hour to finish a sentence/take without fucking up? It's very distracting is all I'm saying.
