- Update: Over a year later and they still work fine. I hardly even turn on my high beams now.
I did have a sock on the mic, it was that windy. Sorry
Have only be flashed once by an old guy in a Buick. Night vision much improved. Time will tell how long they last.
Got tired of the yellow halogens and wanted to try some LEDs.
The low beams do give a CAN bus error on my van. It is not a big deal for me. Some cars scream at you for it, this one just says a bulb is out, I click OK and away it goes. Still happy with the results.
The light I used have not been available but I have used this brand in some of my other cars and they have been great so here are the links for them.
9005 High beam and H11 Low beam combo kit. amzn.to/3aK9ZUD
it looked good for me. I was confident to upgrade my van bulbs now. Thank for sharing!
@@ihatejennielol some got a bulb error when the lights were turned on, some didn't. If you do, you can get Forscan and the dongle and code it off like I did.
I just ordered some of these lights because of this video.
Replaced stock low beams with a different brand and the pattern is spread out and no punch down the road...
I’ll follow up with my feelings after the new ones are installed next week!
Cheers!
Just remember to adjust (twist) them after installing one while projecting against a wall. You need to adjust the beam pattern some. I found it seems to have the best cutoff (factory) with the leds in the side to side arrangement.
let us know im trying to do the same on the transit I picked up
Joey B the Hikari lights kick ass!
Bought the sealight versions first and they were weak at best.
The hikari ones crush those.
Worth every penny
@@joeysalvatore4289 Buy them, you wont be disappointed.
Bassntruck I’ll try them out I think I’m just not a fan of having the fan inside the light 💡 for longevity
Appreciate the video. I also have a transit and vids for the transit are hard to come by. Ive been debating if the leds are worth it but after ur video, I think I'll order some now. Thanks a bunch
No problem Jim. I would have more videos up about it but I have been busy with the house and having surgery. I have some future videos planned for it. It has also mainly been problem free. I did have 1 issue I will be posting about soon. The light upgrade has been worth it.
wow pure bright is amazing !
Thanks for the info bro, and for the link to the LED headlights, Amazon should send you a gift bag, seriously
I love LED lights they much brighter than halogens
I like the comparison and commentary, but I wanted to know more about removing and installing the headlight assembly, even it is easy.
It was so windy that day but it is really as easy as removing the 2 or 3 screws on the top and pulling forward. Then unplugging the wires.
I have a 2020 European Transit Custom and I must say the stock headlights (low and high) are a disappointment especially the low beams. I had Ford realign the height of them but they are just not that bright. Sad as the rest of the van is terrific.
I agree. The stock bulbs really let the night vision down. After I replaced them with the proper LED units it has made all the difference.
Hi, thanks for the video, I did purchase the bulbs and they work great. Much better visibility and they also look more modern with the white light vs yellow. There is one big issue, the van hates the bulbs and every time I turn them on, it gives me a warning that low beam are out. What to do with that ? Its annoying and it beeps too. Any idea for a quick and easy solution besides soldering a resistor into the circuit ?
As I said in the video, I just click the "OK" button on the wheel and it goes away until I turn the van off. For me, it is a small price to pay for the better lights. Not sure if the dealer or anyone can code that out.
@@bassntruck not on mine. It stays on no matter what I do. I press the button OK and then the warning light is still on. I will get the resistor and wire it in. I agree about the light output, its definitely an improvement.
@@oldwortex5818 That is strange that they do different things. Maybe there is a year or equipment difference? Do you have day time running lights?
could you please let me know what year is your transit.
Hey! How are these lights holding up? Just got a Transit 350 and hate the original headlights in it. Any issues with dispersal changing or people flashing lights long term? Thanks!
They are still working great. It is very rare I get flashed and it has not happened in a long time.
do you have a link that works? for amazon
Definitely some weird scatter going on there. Mostly the patterns showing up right in front of the vehicle is what I don't like. Those could probably be blended in with fog lights on. They also seem to shoot a little too wide. Does that seem accurate or is it the camera being sensitive?
I think it must have something to do with the camera or just you. The patterns matched when side by side, the LED was brighter. That is how it looked in person. I still have only been flashed 3 times since they were installed.
Hi im very imimpressed mate ive a lwb transit custom limited edition, same as you i love my ford van but the standard bulbs are terrible.
Im based in the UK but could you advise on the brand you fitted as they were so much more bright and crisp.
Kindest thanks and cheers!! 😊🌈😁 Andrew
Looks like they took down the listings but this pair is what I have been putting in. It is both the high and low beam. But I do not use the high beams as they have not been needed. You may get an error when first turned on like I do but the better light is worth having to press the OK button. amzn.to/3aK9ZUD
Hi mate thanks for replying as i really appreciate that indeed.
Thanks Andrew UK 😁🌈
Can you hear the fans on these while driving? I've read some reviews on similar bulbs and hear complaints about that.
I have not had a problem like that on any of my cars. If you have the hood open and them on you can hear it on some. But in the driver's seat and driving, no.
Awesome!
I installed led lo beams in me 2015 ford transit after I got it and they literally melted I wondered if it might have been due to the day time running lights. O your van do you have a fulltime head light system or day time running lights. If your in the US you might not have ether. There mandatory in Canada.
I do not have DTRL. I see Ford now offers HIDs as an option on the new vans.
Amazon says these will not fit my 2019 Ford Transit 350? Doesn’t seem to make sense. All the Transits have the same lights right?
As far as I am currently aware they have not changed. Can the will it fit is not always accurate. Can always pull one out or check in the owner's manual.
Great job
Just wondering do we as transit 150 owner really need to remove the headlight set from the car in order to replace the bulbs?
Depends on how flexible you are and how much dexterity you have.
I just got a transit 2020 250, do you think these lights will work with my van.
Or the 2020 comes with different wiring system.
Still the same bulbs.
@@bassntruck then I am going to get them.. I love the difference of color .
Thanks a lot for answering my questions.
You mentioned i believe in this video that you were going to do a video on installing some power supply in your van. I am looking and I don't see that. I need to install one in my 2018 T-150 Transit.
I have one in it but it is really only sitting in there temporally. I need to make a bracket (like my amps) to mount it in the lower wall behind the drivers side B pillar. It is just sitting there right now as I have the lower panel off. I have a Xantrex 806-1210 so it may be larger then yours. I am not sure how soon I can get to this project as I have had a bunch of issues come up.
@@bassntruck thanks.
@@bassntruck did you tie it in to the fuse block in the battery box under the drivers seat?
The plan is to tie it directly to the batteries but at the moment I have it attached to the power lug on the rear side of the drivers seat. There is a plastic cover over it if you have never removed it before.
@@bassntruck My battery got moved to the passenger side due to the power retractable seat assembly to gain access to my wheelchair in the back. So now I don't know just what is there. I am now so disabled I can not longer do this kind of stuff by myself.
Hi mate any ideas on how to remove the error message? I’ve just installed some 6000k LEDs to mine. The light and colour is amazing but the message is annoying Lol.
I have some ideas but it really does not bother me at all. It dings once when you turn them on. I am not sure how this system works to detect a bulb outage. There are about 3 options it could likely be. If you want to try a cheap dirty way to see if it will help. Try wiring as 194 bulb under the hood inline and see if it makes the system happy.
Looks great! Did you have to change some configuration setting in the vehicle's computer?
No, it just dings once and a message pops up about a headlight fault the first time they come on every ignition start. I just hit clear on the steering wheel and it is gone. Nothing like my older BMWs with their annoying bulb system. It is a small price to pay for the better light at nite. I noticed the new vans can be selected with factory HID units now.
@@bassntruck
And you just weren’t gonna fucking tell us about that…
@@TankToChest Not sure why you say that. It has been right in the description since this video went up years ago. Still happy with the lights after all these years.
Wanting to put these on my van. Are they still working good?
So far still working fine.
Bassntruck awesome thanks for info!
As of 11/25, neither one is available on AMZN. Got another source?
I updated the light links since they have not been available. I have used this other brand in a bunch of my other cars and I have been happy with them so far. Thanks
Oh maaaan, you're blinding the fuck out of everyone..
You have a link where to get these LED bulbs on Amazon?
Enzo Amore Yes, at the bottom of the video description.
hi there,
after i installed h11 led headlights for my transit, the error message popped up: "low beam bulbs fault". Did you get the same message and how to fix it? i installed the resistors but they did not fix the problem.
Thanks.
Hello, I mentioned in the video that I do get the error message when the lights are turned on. I just hit OK on the steering wheel and away I go. It really doesn't bother me. The upgrade in lighting is worth it and then some. I am not aware of anyone getting past it. But I have not bothered to look either.
For those type of reflectors xenons are much better.LED bulbs will not create good pattern and will only blind oncoming vehicles. You could be lucky depending on shape of reflector and bulbs you fit. Most likely its not worth the effort.
Thanks for the reply but you did not watch much of the video based on your comment.
I'm running hids and looking to switch to an led setup. I don't mind the error message but have you had flickering issues by not adding the canbus resistors?
savoeun khiev I have had no flickering issues for the year I have had these units installed. Hopefully you will have the same if you get the ones I bought.
@@bassntruck yes Im looking to run these on both lows and highs. I love the light output your LEDs offer. I picked up the 2018 transit 250 EcoBoost earlier this year as a work van. Oh, what have you done with your dust cap? These LEDs run a fan and I know you need airflow.
@@bassntruck holy crap I just looked them up and it's going for 15 bucks a pair for our sizes. I should put an order in now.
The dust cap fit over them. I think there was some room behind them but I can not recall exactly. I have not had any issues yet but I only run them when I have to, no DRL on my van.
At that price how could you not?
How do you align the low beam headlights? I have leds on my Transit and the low beams hit the side & rear mirrors of smaller cars so they blind them, maybe my leds are to bright?
There are adjustment screws on the headlight housings. But that likely will not work if you installed an LED that is an older style and does not put the LED exactly in the same place as the halogen filament. This causes the light to scatter and blind oncoming traffic and is not fixable by adjusting the lens. With the lights I linked and used, I did not have to adjust anything and got the exact same beam pattern as the stock halogens. Does this help?
I have OE lights in my Transit and I still get people flashing me and tapping their brakes lights. Of course, they stop once I flash my High Beams. Just poor design by FORD.
Van Time That is odd. I have only been flashed once by an old guy in a Buick, so I take that with a grain of salt. You should check your alinement on them.
I imagine that the alignment is correct. I haven't touched them since I bought it.
@@vantime2911 Sounds like your just out of alignment so you have a little work ahead of you. Many 'commercial' vehicles are spit out like puppies and hardly see a dealer save for a recall. Mine was too.
I have the 2017 transit connect the smaller van. Would these work?
Not sure what style of bulbs yours uses. Should say in the owners manual.
Hi, did you connect the relay?
What relay are you talking about?
Resistor. The original headlight glow is 55w 12 v halogen glow. Any upgrade LED ‘ Wattage can be bigger than 55w. How much wattage do
your LEDs carry. Also, my Transit 2015 headlight set up is that the DLR/ high beam using H11 glow inside and the low beam using H7 outside. Is it the reason why people had the error message when install the wrong types of LED without checking the manufacturing set up.
@@manlee499 I did not change anything. These LEDs draw less power then the stock bulbs. Mine doesn't have DRL. That could be an issue as some send a lower than normal voltage to the build when DRL are on.
@@manlee499 H11 is the low beam and that is outside and the small high beam uses the H7. There is no wrong or correct LED, all will trigger the warning light due to less resistance. I am looking for an easy and quick solution as it drives me crazy to see the warning light and hear the beeps. I might have to go with the soldering of a resistor, but still would do the LED upgrade. Its just that much better than factory.
My van shows low beam fault.
You can either live with the fault or use Forscan to turn off that notice by changing the encoding.
Lol I wonder how many have flashed u their high beams at you cuz they bright lol
In the 2+ years they have been in, with 50k miles driven across 16 states, I have been flashed 3 times.
Kvonn I have yet to be flashed. The pattern is very tightly focused
Do you have to clear out the error code every single time that you start the car?
Only when I turn on the headlights. It just gives me a low beam out error message. I click OK and away it goes. Although I get no such error on the high beams. Some cars the bulb out message is annoying as heck like my old BMWs. I did have to install resistors on my turn signals as I got the error message and hyper flashing. So far I am still very happy with the lights. My only worry is about how hot they will get in the summer and if it will effect their lifespan.
Isn't there led lights that are error free?
These are listed as CAN BUS safe but they still error. If you read most of the bulbs they claim something like "Led headlight not compatible with some cars". They say they will send something to fix the issue if you request it but it is not worth the hassle for me on this van.
Is led brighter than HIDs you think?
Not sure, really would depend on the LED and the HID. LEDs are getting more powerful everyday. I do not have an HID set to compare or the tools to test the brightness between them.
