I am old enough to remember watching the Vikings at old Met Stadium & the North Stars at the Met Center before they tore them down for the MOA. I was only at the MOA once (that was enough for me) - on my 21st birthday, the same day I went to a Stars game during their last season here. Don't get me wrong, I loved malls when I was younger, but I prefer the smaller ones. Speaking of Hockey - the US Hockey Hall of Fame is a few blocks from my house in Eveleth. Several films were made up in the Arrowhead & on the Range as well.
Lived in MN as a kid and moved to FL with my parents around the age of 10. Now looking like we may be coming back. "We" being my wife, three girls (9,4,2) and myself.

I'm a second generation Minnesotan, and I knew all of the 10 facts! I also played with teammates on the first Minnesota State High school football team the Washburn Millers!
For the local movie list; you should add Fargo, Grumpy Old Men, and A Simple Plan staring Billie Bob Thornton (kind of a sleeper movie filmed in Delano, MN.)
I lived almost two years in Woodbury MN. Those were great times for me. Full of nice people, beautiful places and open lands. I honestly didn't like the night on Minneapolis... Full of fights and violent people. Regards from Argentina
I grew up in Edina. Lol. I knew about the first mall. Shopped there and hung out there with friends. I knew also knew about might ducks. Yep, as a historical fiction writer, i knew everything you mentioned. I moved to Minnesota in 1958. Nice video.
Not only does Minnesota have many bike trails they also have the second most paved roads by state so you can bike almost almost anywhere on paved roads compared to gravel in most states.....
You bring up "The Mighty Ducks," I have a geographical question. How big was District 5? Because in D2 we learn that Adam Banks hails from Edina (ya know, because he's a "Cake Eater") yet Fulton Reed states that he lives in Stillwater. I mean, does District 5 (and later "The Ducks") take up most of the metro (including the Twin Cities?) If so, then how were they unable to recruit top talent? Because where the kids lived was very important. We know this because that is how Banks effective got forced to play for The Ducks in the first place.
@@movingtominnesota I am aware of that. But, it doesn't explain how the team could have Fulton Reed (according to D2 lives in Stillwater) and Guy Germine (according to D2 lives in St. Paul.)
Music! The "Minnesota Sound." Not just Prince. Fashion. Minnesota has a long history of influencing national fashion trends & is a test are for many national retailers. Winter isn't usually that bad. Just learn to dress correctly. If your from a warm climate maybe take a winter driving class.
"Fashion"? Go anywhere in this state, (Upper Mid-west in general) and the "fashion" is HOODIES... as far as the eye can see! Hoodies, cargo shorts, crocs, sports jerseys, wrap around sunglasses, and stocking caps. Everybody looks like everybody else! : )
dude, St. Paul has always been seperate from MPLS. ST ANTHONY has always been NE MPLS (nordeast) the mississippi only seperates the citys south of the U of M ( University and HWY 280 area) Franklin Ave on the east bank is still Mpls just barely. otherwise its a nice video
I know Saint Paul has always been separate. Saint Anthony falls on the other hand did not merge with Minneapolis right away. They started off as two completely different settlements. So the term "Twin Cities" originally referred to Saint Anthony and Minneapolis, not Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
@@jimmyketsomboun4427 I’ve lived in both of those places and you are crazy to consider Minnesota let alone Big Lake. You’ll end up regretting that move if you do big time. Trust me! No way would I ever even visit Minnesnowda again. The last 3 years the crime especially petty crime thefts have gone through the roof. Drug use has also. The amount of Karen’s around and general passive aggressiveness will drive you out soon. If the 8 months of snow won’t. Or New York level of taxes. Good luck you’ll need it! Nothing to do there either but Ice fish in big lake.
You are absolutely crazy to volunteer to move there. I lived there for longer than 20 years as the crime and passive aggressiveness got out of control.
To be completely honest I would not recommend anyone to live here. It's more than just the weather. As far as the Twin Cities area I would stay I would venture into the far western or eastern parts. Never into Minneapolis or St.Paul. I did know some of the things you brought up also learned something new.🤔😒😬😏👍🏽
Let's see, ever heard of Robert Zimmerman, he was born in Hibbing in 1940. St Paul's first name was "Pig Island"! There is far more to Minnesota than the Twin Cities, in fact, they Cities are becoming less and less important with the internet. Go to Lake of the Woods, the BWCA, the lake country between Wadena and Bemidji for very affordable fun and relation. There is a name for the politics here too; "Minnesota Nice". People live here, not for the weather, but because of the people who choose to live here.
FACT - Minnesota's shifting demographics. MN continues to bleed highly educated, high-income earners, while being a magnet for non-educated, low-income people from around the mid-west straining our social service network. It is not Mexico sending us their best and brightest, it is Detroit, Chicago, and East St Louis, causing a Rotting Inner Core
Also what’s fact is the high income high taxed base are all leaving Minnesota. In 2020 42,000 high income earners left the state alone. Because of the super high income tax, and little return from that apart from high crime and payment in snow from October thru may.
I live in minnesota but I love my state south Dakota. My lady south Dakota governor is more attractive then the minnesota governor. But I love one South Korean lady Ayeon the grand dominated perfectly performance skills of abilities from the talented young skillful lady warrior Ayeon!
When I said no tax on food I was referring to groceries, which are not taxed in Minnesota. Going out to eat at a restaurant, yes it is taxed. Thanks for having me clarify.
I'm Minneapolis but I've live in Alabama for many years. I haven't been home in a long time but we're considering moving back there.

Yes, a major omission. And he's a Nobel Prize winner -- the latest of 25 Minnesotans who've won this.
Didn’t know the last one. Pretty interesting.
Crazy, right?!

Don't forget Cargil. I believe they are not listed as fortune 500 because they are a privately held company.
