Here's what happened after this episode: The deal with Simson did not happen, as Holten changed her mind and decided to continue going it alone. Without Shark Tank help, she grew the business on her own terms, keeping the product an artisanal one. After the exposure on Shark Tank, Strange Grains rocketed and Holten moved to bigger premises to increase production; they do retail and wholesale, selling out frequently due to high demand.
Naomi's offer is tempting, but its a trap, granny is doing her business on limited manpower and space, mass producing the product removes the "artisanship" in her artisanal breads and granny will be forced to spend more for commercial level baking equipments
The company Sher is from my hometown in Italy and literally has factories all over the world. He was of the first in the market. I'd have invested in a heartbeat in this lady
They're trying to downplay her company's value so they can snap their share up at a discount. I think 20% was more reasonable, 25% was totally a discount given she said that her business doubled to $2mil, should've been 500k value at least. Old lady should've come in after this year's earnings has been totaled, so she could say for certain what her value is, gave them too much leeway to offer discount prices. Then again I don't think she minded having 25% taken given this is something she did in her spare time.

I love that the other sharks, even though they said they out, still tried to give Jenny advice and mentor her with her decisions and with the final offer. That is respectable. I wish this amazing lady and her bakery all the best. She deserves it and many people would benefit from her example!
Bless Her Heart! A fine example of knowing you're never too old to do anything and go with your heart. I understand that she's working around the clock and needs help with the workload, how to deal with the high demand for her bread, and doing business without getting taken advantage of. She's been doing an excellent job of it on her own. What an inspiration this lady is! XO

I wish this was my grandma, I’d have my shirt sleeves rolled up and helping her make bread. She just needs physical help and doesn’t seem like anyone is there for her.
She's doing brilliantly selling to high end restaurants in just one part of Australia. Wouldn't it make more sense to expand this successful model to other states than to start essentially a new business trying to mass market it via supermarket chains?
Yeah that lady got bent over and rammed hard and deep for the first time in 20 years.. smh. She should have just walked she would made way more money in the long run alone!
lee jones your clearly weren’t paying attention to the video. She can’t do it alone. She’s 80 yrs old and she wanted to take some load off and have a second partner. Also see her product be sold around Australia in a few years as supposed to 10 yrs which she said that’s how long it would take her if she did it alone.
What a lady! My mom is a teacher, she's almost 60, and she loves cooking all kinds of food. Just recently, she started to make a business of it, bcs, just like this lovely lady, she'll retired from her job. I hope to see my mom will be just as energetic and passionate as this lady. @Turururu I dont believe she thought that. I think she saw the ones on the screen and it prompted her to say "I wonder if theyve got an aquarium there", meaning if they have lives ones as well. She wasnt talking about what was before her at that moment imo.
That’s why they called sharks, they sniff your weaknesses and give you bait that you can’t get out of it, but that share is not bad, the benefit is more.
When Naomi got the deal and went on her and said "you wont be alone" gave me goosebumps, it reminded me of cinderella's aunt acting all nice at first but actually gonna lock her up and enslave her for life. Hahahaha
@M Australians are like Canadians - broke as fuck because they get "free" healthcare. What's more is they brag about being better than Americans, despite being broke as a joke.
Shark tank in US...Duh our economy is crazy good lol and the sharks have actual businesses They might be actually wealthy in AU but they are rich cause they don’t invest in any, US sharks have had a lot of losses too lol
Wish my granny was still around. She was such an amazing baker. I was just too small to think of anything bigger than just the delicious taste. Well done Jenny😊
The way the sharks react whenever a high value business comes in just goes to show they aren’t sharks but just dolphins. This is total shit in comparison with US Shark Tank.
This lady is absolutely amazing! As someone who is gluten intolerant (might be celiac but was only tested for intolerance (loong story)) I would love to try her bread some day. Wish itd become a global brand!
sad to see she accepted this deal. Glenn is so right, the artisan brand gets eroded and Naomii just wants to mass produce it like commodity bread. Sounds great at first, but her margins will get decimated once the supermarkets list it
Well, you are absolutely right. And in the end, the deal didn't happen as she later decided to go alone rather than giving up such a major share of her business. And it absolutely skyrocketed her business due to the fame she gained here. Eventually, she ventured into retail as well after moving to a bigger premise.
Dude...if i had enough $...id just give her the deal no question. She's gone through 80 years, no credit card, no debt, and is about to rake in 7 figures. . . Props girl
I know this gets commented every time that shark tank AUS is posted, but god damn I love how nice you are to people. Especially in this case. Be good to this sweet old lady on a final life mission.
This woman is one of the purest, most beautiful human beings on the earth. Her main questions are, what's a CEO and are the shark tanks real? She gives me hope in the human race.
I never hated on ST-Aus investors but this time they all felt like Jenny's cousins. What a shame! Lady in red ripped off an old hardworking lady. The entrepreneur would have gotten better offers outside of the show because of her appearance on the show! Anyway I hope she makes millions out of this deal.
If she was getting better and trustworthy offers I'm sure she would not have come here... So even if she took 5% extra of what she came prepared to give i think its worth it... With Naomi she could also get in her red Ballon online sale business during holiday and festive seasons... She said she wants to work less then she could give away the recipe but m sure she will double the profit for her
She wasn't ripped off. It was a win win for all. The business can also go international. I see sales in the USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand and other parts of Europe. Jenny will take her places
The best part about the AUS version is that all the sharks are very honest and keep the pitcher’s best interests in mind. Steve and glen are actively coaching her through the process. They aren’t trying to get their fellow shark a ridiculously good deal, they want the fairest deal
I hope she had someone trustable in the family, who wouldn't rip her off, but do all running around for her for a share of the business, while she could just concentrate on decision making (which she's clearly good at). That way the product could remain Artisan and maintain its quality while still making loads of money.
This Granny is amazing and hilarious. Imagine you are just so bored being retired, so you start baking bread, start making a business to not be bored anymore. Without prior knowledge you scaled the business doing millions and have no debt at all. She just wanted to not be bored anymore and now makes a huge profit out of it and does not even fully realize how good she is doing it. Amazing business story and glad to see it grew even bigger, hopefully with not too much extra work for her though.
This range of bread looks normal to an European, but believe me, having lived in the AUS, this is like alien technology and complete gourmet amazement museum to Australians. They just don't know what bread is!
I feel like making this deal was a mistake for her. Yes she would sell a lot more units but for less money per unit and having to do more work. Plus the exclusiveness would disappear when the bread from restaurants get in a supermarket. Edit: I read the comments and understand she backed out of the deal after the show which I think is better.
This broke my heart because the business was a sole trader it was unique and niche and exciting, putting it in these big supermarkets will make the brand just like any other brand, there's nothing different and exciting about it anymore
Dude, bread and dough/pastry making is literally a science lol. To deviate from a traditional recipe would be a lot of trial and error. It’s not as simple as it seems especially when you try to make alternate versions.
I wouldn’t have taken that offer. I would have hired someone to help manage it on an annual salary. She could have hired someone else as well for what she spent to contact and arrange meetings for expansion throughout Australia to build her brand or moved her energy to that end instead of production.
That would imply you know something about business. She did not. After I saw her nephew, I figured he or someone else in the family would step up and help though.
@@klitos Actually yes she does. She will be paying the shark. For the percentage the issue with this is they quoted with their time. As part of the value after speaking with several of companies that have been on this show I can tell you that not one of them have gotten physical help from any of their sharks instead the Sharks sent a team of people from their company. To then scale the company And 5 out of the 6 people I have spoken to that has failed. The fact of the matter is people like this are only out for money more money and more money Not one of the Sharks actually help their brands that they take on because they just don't have the time. Jenny Cambell: I'm not from Australia, for that reason I'm not even allowed in.
If this was UK's Dragon's Den , they would have given her many good offers . This Australia's Shark Tank has poor investors .
Those sharks don’t come close to UK & US & Canada
Same with American shark tank.
Alexis G American shark tank is great
As an Australian, we have people that would be much more suited for the tank.
Agreed! Dragons Den is better
I love that the other sharks, even though they said they out, still tried to give Jenny advice and mentor her with her decisions and with the final offer. That is respectable. I wish this amazing lady and her bakery all the best. She deserves it and many people would benefit from her example!
Her secret recipe: gluten
Hahahahaha
😂😂😂😂
😂
Hahaha you nailed it 😂
While thats funny, if she really is Celiac then she couldn't so much as touch gluten without some degree of reaction.
Glen is always the nicest one! Always givws advise, always puts decent offers on the table and never takes things personal
He's also the richest in there @ almost a billionaire.
XO
Wow! She is an incredible woman. How wonderful that she's built her legacy with a passion project... she's showing the world that celiac-friendly bread is a worthy market.
“You won’t be alone” that woman scares the shit out of me
No kidding dude. These angel investor types are like gargoyles
I really like this lady!! I don’t even think she needed the sharks. Look how much she has accomplished on her OWN! She is SUCH an inspiration! Much respect. ✊
She didn’t! She backed out of the deal and the company is worth over $5 million, and apparently always selling out
@@nolanpatten7586 and what the reason she cancel the deal..?
Been following Strange Grains since this first aired on TV over 2 years ago and still just WA and killing it she gave away so much more than she wanted to and still just WA distributions hope she gets to see the success she and the amazing range deserves while she can still enjoy it.
Shoutout to Glenn for asking her if she wanted to sit down. Respect.
She's one of the nicest and sweetest human beings I've seen in a while
I wish this was my grandma, I’d have my shirt sleeves rolled up and helping her make bread. She just needs physical help and doesn’t seem like anyone is there for her.
She can sell her bread to high end restaurants for that amount of money for the costumers who are gluten free.
She's doing brilliantly selling to high end restaurants in just one part of Australia. Wouldn't it make more sense to expand this successful model to other states than to start essentially a new business trying to mass market it via supermarket chains?
"Four sharks are out and only Naomi is left."
"Right then. Goodbye sharks."
i like how some of the sharks heavily implied that she would be better off if she went on without a shark, naiomi scammed that lady
@@wolfqueen4636 good point!
What a lady! My mom is a teacher, she's almost 60, and she loves cooking all kinds of food. Just recently, she started to make a business of it, bcs, just like this lovely lady, she'll retired from her job. I hope to see my mom will be just as energetic and passionate as this lady. Honestly, I saw my mom when I saw this lady, she just wants to be active and keeps on learning. Love this clip so much!
That was a snake of a deal, really preyed on her desperation. She was doing way better than she gave herself credit for.
Agree
Luckily she backed out of it
i worked with her in 2004, she has a wicked tounge and super sharp, she made the best beetroot choc cake. soo happy to see shes doing well
Your business is more successful than mine so for that reason I’m out.
😂😂
Straight up ahaha
Huge mistake. Naomi is now going to leech off the business that could have thrived going alone...
This lady is getting old and didn’t NEED a business partner but rather WANTED one. It’s a win-win
Agreed no doubts
Props to allowing her to sit down.. any business meeting would allow folks asking for coins, to sit down... //
She's not prepared to devalue her 'time and energy' but she's more than happy to devalue a successful business by over half.
70 years old pursuing her dream still. Beautiful
"I'm not prepared to devalue my time or energy."
Yet she devalues the woman's business by over 50% with her offer.
I"m sure she will have people coming to her after watching this show. She doesn't need these guys.
Ikr sad
"Im not prepared to devalue my time and my energy", now let me devalue your busines by over 50%
They're not in supermarkets iirc, the company is still on going and is successful
@@josipcuric8767 Do you have any info. on the business? website or something that I could look up?
@@josipcuric8767 i think thats because super markets dont really sell high end bread
I can't believe how patronising the sharks are to this amazing woman! They talked to her as if she was a child 😡😡
Especially the one in red
@Turururu I dont believe she thought that. I think she saw the ones on the screen and it prompted her to say "I wonder if theyve got an aquarium there", meaning if they have lives ones as well. She wasnt talking about what was before her at that moment imo.
@@jaymackenzie7266 Shes a bitch
That’s why they called sharks, they sniff your weaknesses and give you bait that you can’t get out of it, but that share is not bad, the benefit is more.
Jassy Jaz
Yeah, the one in red is a condescending bitch.
When Naomi got the deal and went on her and said "you wont be alone" gave me goosebumps, it reminded me of cinderella's aunt acting all nice at first but actually gonna lock her up and enslave her for life. Hahahaha
She ripped an old lady off, so sad.
I love that she at least got a deal and even more amazed on how wonderful and graceful she is! What an amazing woman❣️
These investors barely ever invest... USA shark tank got the real money
Mark Cuban can buy every other shark lol
Yea i believe they dont have that bank ugh
@@FitnessByMatt If Canadian’s are broke then why are they the top 2 overall country in the world? Do your research before you call a country “broke”
Wish my granny was still around. She was such an amazing baker. I was just too small to think of anything bigger than just the delicious taste. Well done Jenny😊
This sweet granny decided to go on shark tank because she was curious about the virtual aquarium 😂
The way the sharks react whenever a high value business comes in just goes to show they aren’t sharks but just dolphins. This is total shit in comparison with US Shark Tank.
That whistle several of them did when narrator said 3.5mil 😂😂😂 Instead of Shark Tank, it's Guppy Bowl 🐟
Sharks are afraid of dolphins
I think she should have gotten a better deal
I'm embarrassed to confess I view this episode whenever anxiety or morosity get a grip on me. It is an efficacious elixir.
"I barely know what a CEO is, but I think am gonna need one"... Beautiful
This lady is absolutely amazing! As someone who is gluten intolerant (might be celiac but was only tested for intolerance (loong story)) I would love to try her bread some day. Wish itd become a global brand!
Woman in the read dress finally does something. She seemed a little scared when she said yes to the 25%
sad to see she accepted this deal.
Her response to “I’m not ready to devalue my time or energy” ought have been “uh, me either….”
Dude...if i had enough $...id just give her the deal no question. She's gone through 80 years, no credit card, no debt, and is about to rake in 7 figures. . . Props girl
"You won't be alone." I'd be sweating bullets at that point, why does she have to say it in such a creepy tone.
Same thoughts.... trying to rip a old lady off when she doesn’t seem to know much in some areas
I know this gets commented every time that shark tank AUS is posted, but god damn I love how nice you are to people. Especially in this case. Be good to this sweet old lady on a final life mission.
I would not have taken that deal. They took advantage of her age and physical condition. They should have been nice and advised her to hire a ceo.
This woman is one of the purest, most beautiful human beings on the earth. Her main questions are, what's a CEO and are the shark tanks real? She gives me hope in the human race.
I don't know why these guys didn't jump on and hire a team.
Bruh. This man said i cant get excited im out. Wtf
25% is not a rip off especially when they were willing to go upto 20%. I've seen worse anything over 50% you can consider a rip off.
@Joe Wood Do you need to insult and be rude to drive your message across? You could have conveyed the same message politely.
This has to be the most lucrative and fair deal I’ve seen. She set a really fair price for the sharks only for them to turn her down😂
What an inspiration. You are never to old to be an entrepreneur. Respect!!
That way the product could remain Artisan and maintain its quality while still making loads of money.
what a baller!!!Grandma is speaking up to sharks, answering questions while seated! 2 Thumbs up!
And here's me saying month's ago, what happened to the good old day's where you could become a millionaire just baking bread 👍really happy for her ❤️
somehow the comment in the end "You won't be alone" sounded so devious.
This was genuinely a tearful clip, so amazingly heartfelt and sweet. Older people are the best! 👍
The sweetest wee old lady that ever faced the sharks
This range of bread looks normal to an European, but believe me, having lived in the AUS, this is like alien technology and complete gourmet amazement museum to Australians. They just don't know what bread is!
.... 18 years in australia and this is not accurate what lol. We know what bread is, ours looks the same
This had "license out the formula and capture royalties" written all over it.
That was kind of a sinister “You won’t be lone” at the end lmao
The most savage thing ive heard in a while.”i have no idea what a ceo is but i think i need one” 🔥
This broke my heart because the business was a sole trader it was unique and niche and exciting, putting it in these big supermarkets will make the brand just like any other brand, there's nothing different and exciting about it anymore
“I barely know what a CEO is.”
[Expounds about all facets of business finance].
life is like a sandwich, no matter which way you flip it the bread always comes first and thats what she's doing
I dont know why i'm here, and because of that.. i'm out..
I got to admit that my reaction was the same as Steve's when she how much it costs silly yaks have too much money it seems
You don't understand how desperate we are to eat real bread, though. Most gluten free bakeries are terrible.
This idiot clearly doesn’t understand bread
Dude, bread and dough/pastry making is literally a science lol. To deviate from a traditional recipe would be a lot of trial and error. It’s not as simple as it seems especially when you try to make alternate versions.
@@that_twaaang9718 no but I can clearly understand when I am getting ripped off you "idiot"
Darron Galway lol ripped off. I’d love to see you make the same product in your home you fool
“I barely know what a CEO is but I think I need one.”
I probably got a few exes. You kill me there Nan
Anyone else can't get enough of Steve's reaction to the 13-dollar loaf?
Edit: not laughing anymore after hearing what he said to the sweet granny.
I wouldn’t have taken that offer. I would have hired someone to help manage it on an annual salary. She could have hired someone else as well for what she spent to contact and arrange meetings for expansion throughout Australia to build her brand or moved her energy to that end instead of production.
Yeah now she has to pay millions per year for nothing
GFK9 no she doesnt😂
@@Makaveli-020 And end up hiring a CEO anyway
So that makes their evaluations. Scams because you're not getting what they're promising. In fact 2 out of the 6 companies. I spoke to actually taking legal action against their prospective sharks because they did not come through with the time they put on the table during the making of the deal
NOBODY told the granny that she WON'T have to bake all the loafs for these supermarkets herself. Poor thing looked so worried...
