Too bad this deal fell through and that company went under administration. They lied about the capsules being biodegradable. They never actually got the money.
Tbf iCapsulate claim that isn't true and their capsules are. They went in to voluntary administration so they are still trading and will likely make a lot of money still so I doubt they are too concerned.
iCapsulate, which once received the biggest ever deal on the Australian edition of but was marred by controversy in the months after the show aired, has fallen into voluntary administration. However, speaking to , Barnden says the company is not insolvent, and he understands the company’s administration is due to a dispute between its shareholders and directors.
The right choice of investment has always been a big problem for me because I know that picking up the wrong investment will leave a big scar in the future...
It feels good to know that we still have trustworthy people like ma'am Christine Morgan, I'm very delighted I was transformed through her platform God bless her abundantly
I looked it up and apparently had failed, or at least was claimed insolvent and the deal fell through as iCapsulate got critique from companies of the same market, which led to a deeper questioning of the (astonishing) numbers he claimed basically. What a shame I was really impressed
I love how Naomi tries to rush everyone along only to say "I am out" or offers up an offer that she knows the business person will never accept every time
To me she looks like she just wants to scam everyone. From reading the comments in other clips I've gathered she only got one deal where she scammed the dude out of money 😬.
Almost a year later (in 2018), Andrew Banks confirmed the iCapsulate deal ultimately fell through due to the company’s claims about its biodegradable capsules not being accurate. “It didn’t go because on the show you’ll remember they said, ‘we are the exclusive producers of biodegradable coffee pods and the CSIRO will validate that soon’,” Banks said in March 2018. “And guess what? They didn’t, and they aren’t. So for 2.5 million bucks I wasn’t going to risk that. It was [a shame], because their revenues were getting close to $15 million that year and $21 million the next, they had a reasonable business. They still [do], they just don’t have my money.” Kane Bodiam (founder) disputed what Banks said, saying his claims were “basically false” and that all certifications for the coffee pods’ being biodegradable were there. He said the decision to not proceed with the deal was an internal one at the company. “We gave them some info at the beginning, but when we received all the certification and everything we just never continued [with the deal],” the founder told news.com.au. “They stopped communicating so we stopped communicating. It was just moving slowly and we were moving quite quickly. We made a decision probably two or three months after we met Andrew that we were just going to go it alone.” Additionally, the founder said the $2.5 million capital injection wasn’t a great deal of money to the company, as it would be equal to “barely a deposit on new machinery”. According to administrator Andrew Barnden, iCapsulate doesn’t have any significant outstanding debts, bar a “fair bit of money still owed on equipment”. (Source: www.smartcompany.com.au/finance/coffee-pod-company-icapsulate-collapses-into-administration-after-being-offered-biggest-ever-shark-tank-deal/)

Funny how the one shark gives them hell for rushing his decision when that’s exactly what they do to nearly every guest who’s debating what offer to choose lol
This was the best pitch and agreed real quick basis of the calculations. Loved every bit of this deal! Edit: And I just read that this deal never happened coz what Kevin claimed about icapsulate were not all true and although the company is doing business but have legal cases. Steve did the smartest thing by saying he is out without giving any explanations
It’s not about advice it’s about the connections that each shark holds. They have a lot of leverage in other companies and have a lot of favors built up with people/companies that they can help build up new companies.
@@skeleto Not only that but these sharks' names carry weight in negotiations and whenever you join their investment network a whole array of potential synergies opens up to where you could sustainably develop business relationships and partnerships. Yes, the sharks carry a vast leverage especially when seeking relationships overseas (this being Shark Tank AUS means that this comes at a premium) but there's a ton of value past consultancy and mentoring at business level and that's completely disregarding the bridges and pull they've got throughout the whole supply chain when brokering logistic, manufacturing, distribution and any necessary outsourcing deals to develop and mature potential future developments, support their current product line and others.
I find Australian version better than any other as the investors are mostly so humble and respectful towards pitchers. I admire the way they all stand up and greet the pitching team after the negotiation gets over...even those sharks who didn't get the deal
I prefer the US version it’s interesting and fun. This was insightful, good to watch but Boring. Unlike shark tank US it’s easy to not binge watch episodes of this
Fun fact: Because this is filmed in Australia, gravity would normally send everyone in the room up to the ceiling. But to make the show more appealing for Northern Hemisphere viewers, the production team uses special reverse-gravitational devices (imported from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Cal-Tech) in the studio so that the people are all standing on the floor.
Apparently this guy's claims to be partners with nz and australias top coffee companys were fake, according to top coffee company's , OR as he claimed "smear campaign" the deal didnt go through and now the company is and has been closed down.
No surprise. Even as a viewer I had several questions, that I was shocked the AUS sharks didn’t ask. I’ve never seen the show before, but I know that had this been in the American one - Mark Cuban or Kevin would have started grilling this guy over certain aspects of his business. For instance, the guy said “I decided to turn my life around”. They should have asked him what he meant. Dug more into his background. They should have been suspicious of his claims that he started his business in under a year - and suddenly every major corporation is using his product. Business simply doesn’t move that fast. Even if they loved his product, they wouldn’t be able to switch over that quickly. Let alone, most corporations have established relationships that go beyond just the product. His whole story wasn’t adding up. Too good to be true as they say. And while the sharks can’t force him to speak, they could have asked the right questions to corner him and make him reveal certain things. But the AUS sharks didnt even really get into the numbers
Exedess You’re right. Though there is a Huge Process before you’re allowed to present (Not to mention how hard it is to be on there in the first place) And a huge process after a deal is made where they would check off some of the things you mentioned, before they sign any papers. Also it is business after all lol All that really matters is Numbers. A business owner could ask the sharks for an exchange for a percent of his business. But Not for the business.. instead to bribe his Mass Murderer Son out of jail...The sharks would simply ask him how his sales are and his estimated numbers for a years time 😂
imagine the picture of him being young and now he is old making lots of money describes that success does not come overtime it needs time and great effort.
"When he was on the Shark Tank Bodian said sales for 2016 were at $4m. According to Banks revenues at iCapsulate were approaching $15m when he withdrew, and heading for $21m next year." packagingnews.com.au
For anyone interested - the deal never went ahead, it's claimed Andrew pulled out, but the founder stated it was a decision made internally by the company. A few months after the deal collapsed, the company went into voluntary administration.
So basically their whole story of them having a benifits over other products and also being the exclusive biodegradable coffee pod seller was a big fat lie. Andrew found that out and dint invest. There is an interview also by him regarding this. This coffee pod entrepreneur has done alot of other shady stuff also in the past

I looked it up and apparently had failed, or at least was claimed insolvent and the deal fell through as iCapsulate got critique from companies of the same market, which led to a deeper questioning of the (astonishing) numbers he claimed basically. What a shame I was really impressed

They still [do], they just don’t have my money.”
Kane Bodiam (founder) disputed what Banks said, saying his claims were “basically false” and that all certifications for the coffee pods’ being biodegradable were there. I don't understand why this guy doesn't just pay for their advice, rather than giving away 15%.

Probably made the absolute worst "Evil coffee" imaginable ...😂
I literally smiled with them after the deal well done huge respect✊

"When he was on the Shark Tank Bodian said sales for 2016 were at $4m. According to Banks revenues at iCapsulate were approaching $15m when he withdrew, and heading for $21m next year." packagingnews.com.au
For anyone interested - the deal never went ahead, it's claimed Andrew pulled out, but the founder stated it was a decision made internally by the company.
A few months after the deal collapsed, the company went into voluntary administration.
Not really. It was found out that the icapsulate were not actually biodegradable . The company’s worth is below 100k now
The deal on the show was never finalized and fell through. Then the founders had disagreements and had the company liquidated a few years ago
