That guy on the end smelled the BS from a mile away. And he was right. Turns our this guy was lying about many things. He didn’t have contracts with all the major companies like he claimed (which was obvious, seeing as major corporations aren’t going to switch their entire products over to a company that started just a year ago. Even if they did like his capsules, business simply doesn’t move that fast).
The deal ended up falling through and his business went under. Google it. Funny seeing that one shark at the end getting bad vibes over this. Smart man. The rest were quick to jump on him - when he was the only one actually looking into this guys story and asking the right questions.

I'd be pissed. if i didn't know how to control my emotions.
I've been studying for 2 years and still learning there is so much left for me to keep learning. This game ain't easy and if you fall just from rich people telling you no and laughing at your attempt, either you got more studying to do or you just wasn't made for this.

Let me accurately describe what happened next in short: The deal was on hold for a couple months while competition battered the founder over false claims made during the pitch (they indeed were false). The guy also got locked up in a legal battle with previous employers because of possible fraud/misdeeds. The deal did fall through eventually, but that was because their claim of Biodegradable pods was false, and Banks pulled out even though their sales were fantastic, and Bodiam later claimed that the fall through reason was inaccurate and they already have all certifications, but internally, they didn't value the $2.5 mil a lot and just wanted to go alone.

Almost a year later (in 2018), Andrew Banks confirmed the iCapsulate deal ultimately fell through due to the company’s claims about its biodegradable capsules not being accurate. “It didn’t go because on the show you’ll remember they said, ‘we are the exclusive producers of biodegradable coffee pods and the CSIRO will validate that soon’,” Banks said in March 2018.
“And guess what? They didn’t, and they aren’t. So for 2.5 million bucks I wasn’t going to risk that. It was [a shame], because their revenues were getting close to $15 million that year and $21 million the next, they had a reasonable business. They still [do], they just don’t have my money.”
Kane Bodiam (founder) disputed what Banks said, saying his claims were “basically false” and that all certifications for the coffee pods’ being biodegradable were there. He said the decision to not proceed with the deal was an internal one at the company. “We gave them some info at the beginning, but when we received all the certification and everything we just never continued [with the deal],” the founder told news.com.au. “They stopped communicating so we stopped communicating. It was just moving slowly and we were moving quite quickly. We made a decision probably two or three months after we met Andrew that we were just going to go it alone.” Additionally, the founder said the $2.5 million capital injection wasn’t a great deal of money to the company, as it would be equal to “barely a deposit on new machinery”. According to administrator Andrew Barnden, iCapsulate doesn’t have any significant outstanding debts, bar a “fair bit of money still owed on equipment”. No surprise. Even as a viewer I had several questions, that I was shocked the AUS sharks didn’t ask. I’ve never seen the show before, but I know that had this been in the American one - Mark Cuban or Kevin would have started grilling this guy over certain aspects of his business.
For instance, the guy said “I decided to turn my life around”. They should have asked him what he meant. Dug more into his background.
They should have been suspicious of his claims that he started his business in under a year - and suddenly every major corporation is using his product. Business simply doesn’t move that fast. Even if they loved his product, they wouldn’t be able to switch over that quickly. Let alone, most corporations have established relationships that go beyond just the product.
His whole story wasn’t adding up. Too good to be true as they say. And while the sharks can’t force him to speak, they could have asked the right questions to corner him and make him reveal certain things.
But the AUS sharks didnt even really get into the numbers

Exedess You’re right. Though there is a Huge Process before you’re allowed to present (Not to mention how hard it is to be on there in the first place) And a huge process after a deal is made where they would check off some of the things you mentioned, before they sign any papers. Also it is business after all lol All that really matters is Numbers. A business owner could ask the sharks for an exchange for a percent of his business. But Not for the business.. instead to bribe his Mass Murderer Son out of jail...The sharks would simply ask him how his sales are and his estimated numbers for a years time 😂

This deal actually fell through not that long after so not quite the biggest deal in history but nearly there 🤣 quite inspiring being a start up and having millions in revenue within a year and a half is impressive. The sharks all wanted a fat piece of the pie seeing the potential growth for the long term gains but the owners wanted to go it alone and that's more money in their pockets instead of investors. Being that I just saw this in 2021 I had to do my research and see how the deal turned out a year later.
