I know this is an older video but for anyone looking for something they didn't touch on, your BEST 1st level priest spell is Withdraw- the one on the end. It can save any character from certain death with 100% certainty and it can de-aggro any enemy from your squishy backline if they get jumped. If you are struggling with this game PLEASE use it as the best emergency spell that can be used the entire game.

An important note for buffs in this game is that there is a mechanic called "Suppresion". Suppresion means a character can only benefit from one type of buff at a time meaning if you cast Blessing and Devotions for the Faithful, you only get the Accuracy bonus from the effect granting you the largest bonus. This also applies for gear, if you stack on a bunch of Might gear you only benefit from the piece granting you the biggest boost.
Also the best priest in the game is "Fire Priest" abusing spells like Shining Beacon. Shining Beacon does a ton of damage but whats more is if you cast multiple on the same area it stacks. Dropping 4 to 6 Shining Beacons on a fight absolutely destroys it and the damage is absurd. Later on when you pick up Storm of Holy Fire a Priest can solo fights with ease.

Woah, those tips are essential for newbs like me. Thanks lol.
I want to make my PC a priest of Skaen, but also want my main character to be a frontline fighter, can you share some tips on how I should handle the early parts of the game where I don't have a lot of good abilities yet and what armor and weapons I should use? Being in the thick of battle most of the time, Heavy armor would be my first guess but that penalizes my action speed considerably...So Medium armor? As for weapons I have no clue either ^^
Also can the spells Almar Winfield mentioned in this video be used to good effect as a frontline priest? I'll probably play on Easy and maybe set it to Medium if encounters start to lose their challenge. In PoE 2 I'll most likely import this same character, but I've heard Skaen priests aren't that tough in the sequel.

@@rezeren5326 Priest isn't the best frontliner really, the best thing they do is cast spells rather than swing weapons. That said being Skaen you get Prey on the Weak, +10 Accuracy with Clubs and Stilletos so use those, it also gives a weaker version of Rogue Sneak Attack. Slap a small shield on, grab something like Azureths Stilleto or Bleak Fang and start stabbing. In terms of armor I would something heavy early on and something light later.
Not super familiar with Skaen priest but general priest tips I have are: Priests prayer spells win many encounters, immunity to fright from dragons or dominates from fampyrs is insane. Priest get some great blast spells, iconic projection, shining beacon, pillar of holy fire, storm of holy fire, and symbol are disgustingly strong. In terms of Buffs the standouts are Blessing, Dire Blessing, Devotions for the Faithful, Crowns for the Faithful (this spell is nuts), and Minor Avatar (this spell is actually insane).
Late in the game priest can solo whole encounters with ease and is without a doubt one of the strongest classes in the game possibly the strongest (its between priest and wizard).
The last advice is, in tough encounters, just dump your whole spellbook on it, camping supplies are pretty easy to come by so dont be afraid to cast.
Look up some priest solo videos for more in depth tactics and that (I reccomend Vladimir Bi and Baldurs_Gate_2 youtube channels).
      Good luck and have fun.

@@eliaspatrikis1926 Going to need to save this comment, great bits of information in a succinct fashion. Maybe if I keep the difficulty setting on Easy, I could have my way of using him in a vanguard role ^^. Also a thank you for the references, I'll need to check those two out

Blessing stacks with Devotions for the Faithful, weirdly enough, because it’s technically not stacking the same accuracy buff. It’s instead stacking a ranged/melee accuracy on top of a general accuracy. This means your weapon attacks benefit from both buffs while your spells, which don’t (usually) benefit from ranged/melee accuracy, only improve because of Blessing, not Devotions.
The same goes for stacking other buffs like Armor of Faith (+4 DR) and Woodskin (bonuses to specific armor types like slash). The general bonus will stack with the more specific bonuses.
Took me years to learn this stuff

This is one of the better guides I've seen! It's short but has everything you want to know. I was gonna bail on mine right before I got to the good stuff. Much appreciated!

This video was a great help, thank you man. If I wanted to be a frontline priest, would one devoted to Skaen work without too much trouble? It's for roleplaying reasons only and I don't like the main character - the "hero" lol - to be relegated to the back of the group. I will most likely play on Easy but from what I've played, even that difficulty can be punishing for new players to these sorts of RPGs. The only other RPG that's most similar to this game is Dragon Age: Origins (incidentally my favorite game of all time) which I had far less trouble with in regard to learning its mechanics. I'm playing the console port if that makes any difference ^^

Personally i find in a big fight, the priest's support abilities and heals doesn't feel very impactful.

Useless video, you're just reading skill descriptions and saying you think a spell is good or not good without explaining why or providing alternatives.
