It will be interesting if it is also blurred for those who don't see as good. And maybe add fig like animation for smells the animal can detect. Compleatly black view with only color cloud smells for blind animals

I would love to see this! I always love those things thats like "heres what x animal sees" sorta like the example that he showed in the video. That would just be fun *and* I think it'd totally explain to people who dont know about eye anatomy that some things see different colors. It'd be cool to have a thing where when eyes first evolve they have a given number of cones (probably dichromatic like the majority of earth-life but who knows) and each cone has a specific relevant part of the spectrum. This would mean that trichromacy like we have could evolve to see things better, but also that specialized eyes like what dragonflies have could evolve, where certain colors are more sensitive above vs. below the creature.

the new update looks incredible but I do have one suggestion. Ever since I first started playing the game over a year ago I always wished flying animals could evolve to become flightless like many animals have in real life. It would be awesome if all three of the different wing types in the game could evolve into new flightless versions of themselves. You also said in the video that you are adding many new body parts to the game since it has become easier to do now but you said the number isn't final so please consider adding new flightless wings to the game.

I have got plenty of ideas on making some cool creatures from my time away. I’ll share them as the devlogs come out, but here’s a few: 1.Limbless Creatures. It seems that it is required to have at least one limb on a creature to release it. I believe this could be avoided if the creature is really long, so it can slither like a snake. 2. A speculative body part that looks like a balloon. It would help creatures get to flight quicker on the evolution branch, but the flight would be slower. 3.A way for creatures to devolve so they don’t get stuck in a dead end.
an interesting idea i had for a bit is variants for wing types where they secondairly work as legs (think pterodactyls) having wings like this will let fliers get larger because they can use more strength to take off and have more limbs to hold weight, that idea aside though its been fun watching this game from when it first released in what was it 2020? glad you decided to keep updating, and just remember to never get overwhelmed by all the suggestions and stuff

thats something that they missed in Spore, horror. Whether animal, tribe, civilization, or cosmic, to be in a food chain is never ending . I'm reminded of the news about scientists recreating what a T Rex might sound like, and that is horror felt through the bones. Imagine the sounds at night, calling and creeping in cold rain.
I know this update is basically done based on your recent community post, but for the next update, it'd be cool to see some features inspired by the Precambrian. It'd be cool to see some algae body plans inspired by some of the many different kinds of algae from the Precambrian like the upside-down teardrop shaped Gesinella, cup shaped Flabellophyton, and forms composed of a single filament with a simple hold fast like Archaeochaeta or the Vendotaenids, which could probably work as the most simple form of algae. it'd also be interesting to see some more stuff for early animals inspired by things like Ikaria wariootia and Yilingia, because as of now, the most simple animal you can make is a jawless fish, which isn't really accurate for animals or even for the group Bilateria. Also, armour based on the armoured skulls of Placoderms and certain kinds of jawless fish like osteostracans would be cool.
@@TheSaplingJust an addendum: I've recently been reading the paper "Evolution of Holdfast Diversity and Attachment Strategies of Ediacaran Benthic Macroalgae", and it's got quite a lot of cool and interesting things that I think could work in the sapling. Essentially, throughout the Proterozoic, the seafloor was dominated by microbial mats which meant that the sea floor was very firm. This meant that most of the macroalgae had simple, disk-like holdfasts similar to the one currently in game. During the early Ediacaran, other forms of holdfast adapted to firm, microbial mat sediments evolved, such as tapered bases. Eventually, the substrate became more soupy as microbial mats becane less common, resulting in the appearance of rhizoids that anchored the algae in place, similar to the root-like ones currently in game. There were also globose bases (my personal favourite) which were probably transitional between the disks and tapered holdfasts of microbial mat adapted algae and the rhizoids of loose sediment adapted algae. I feel like these could work in roughly the same place in the in-game family tree. Another very cool kind of holdfast are horizontal rhizomes, which are also found in some Ediacaran algae. Something similar would also work for plants and fungi with stolons. My idea for these would be that they are root types that allow you to add multiple (maybe up to 3 or 4) main plant bodies to them, either all identical or all individually editable.
I'm going to guess that parasites are a part of this update. I know sanguivores (bloodsuckers) are already in the game, but these behave more like mosquitoes and vampire bats - once they've drunk enough blood, they don't stick around. I'm thinking more along the lines of parasitic wasps or nematodes, parasites that live inside a host either permanently or temporarily and often have debilitating health effects.
Another idea I have is the ability to control how the map generates in sandbox, allowing you to decide if you want an achipelago, an island, a lake, a mountainous area, and others. It could also be interesting to have trenches, which could lead to the evolution of animals and algae that can't rely on light for energy and seeing.
@@TheSapling horray! I was officially acknowledged! Also, if this update is focused on Spooky stuff, how about we get cephalopod parts? A cool part I think to add for the predatory plants would be something like the Xen tree from Half Life or butcher tree from Darwin IV. A plant that spears creatures for nutrients!
New skin pattern !! Yeah ! Hormones ! Amazing ! And I just love how when you show a new part, I immediately think of the terrest-counterpart. It never misses, you're doing an awesome job, as always
It would be cool to have a "random" button to hormons and seasons. I would love to have as little influence on the world and species as possible for the tru evolution experience
You should add caves. They could have predators hide in them or maybe animals like bats could live there. It could also have a bunch of bioluminescent plants in there.
I had some doubts 1. Can an animal with 100% camouflage be detected? 2. Do shells have any disadvantages? 3. Can the shells be destroyed? 4. Could the potency of the poison in animals be indicated? 5. What limitations does a carnivorous plant have in being able to eat an animal or not? 6. How does it affect soil nutrients? In addition to making plants become carnivorous
1. I'm sure this will be addressed in testing 2. Probably a size limitation 3. I image so 4. This would be a good idea 5. Again, probably size 6. How does what effect soil nutrients?
1. No, but 100% never happens ;) 2. Haven't filled out these stats yet, but I imagine weight and 'time in egg/womb' 3. Not really; besides the 'hide' action they just provide more defense at the moment, like scales 4. Yes, but I don't remember if I implemented it already 5. Besides size, it's mostly based on chance... otherwise the exhaust their food supply immediately 6. Will be addressed in episode 5 :)
I really like the idea of the complex camouflage system, would love for that to be implemented somehow(maybe a toggle when making sandbox worlds?), I feel like it allows for much more diversity. Also will patterns influence camouflage at all? That’s the main reason they exist on earth.
Thanks for your input! Skin patterns do not interact with the camouflage system at the moment, but without making promises, I agree it would make sense
hi i am a grate fan that has bin playing your game for a long time now . i love the new changes that you are adding . but i do have a idea for the game that you could add insects ( in depth i meant just small arthropod like animals ) they can have an the same important role in the ecosystem as our bugs! for example the clean up crew ( how the clean up crew could work is that each time they eat rotten or just sum thing dead it makes the soil around it have more nutrients) but the main idea is that you can add a insectivore mouth. for example your forest is over run by tree eating bugs so the insectivores can fix the problem by eating them. and you can make the uses for the other bugs thank you for your time .
When it comes to a mouth with a ballistic tongue, im surprised you didnt also mention that lizards also possess such a feature with chameleons being the extreme example of this group!
Adding different kinds of support structures (exoskeletons, bones, etc.) could add a lot to the game. While it could be difficult to visualize endoskeletons, this could be mitigated by having a sort of "x-ray mode" the player could turn on or off. Support structures could evolve from internalized shells, bony armor, and/or teeth, and could be required for certain types of limbs, mouths, and body sizes, though I don't think each individual body part should necessarily be limited to the creatures with the kind of support structures that have them in our world (ie, internal support structure creatures should still be able to have arthropod-inspired mouths). Additionally, benthic and sessile creatures would be a great addition, allowing for more diverse oceanic environments especially.
In my country is really hard to save money to buy things, and even harder to then convert it into the us currency, but i loved your game since the first devlog, ill do my best to save some money and get it on steam as soon as i can. Great Job Sir
What about body armor where either it just increases health or where it adds a protection stat that either blocks damage or posibly at a certain level removes all damage from animal based attacks, and posibly a skin type that is resistant to acid and that means there immune to predatory plants

I love this game, it's so much fun I am grateful that you have put in the effort to make such a wonderful game!!! I hope you are doing great and I can't wait for the next update💯p.s I love the videos that have you showing 1 species evolution
Looks really cool! I have an idea that certain talons for carnivorous flying animals could grab onto certain more turtle-like shells and fly into the air as they drop the shelled creature killing them depending on the gravity of the world. Spikey shells could negate this and would not be able to be picked up.
This game is special. Its come SO FAR since ive bought it years ago. One day this game will upend spore the best evolution game we have. All in all its already a better sim for realistic evolution
This update looks great. Im hoping that it is the beginning of more behavior updates, I would love to see more ways to modify the actions or qualities of creatures. Even for plants or algae, being able to define "active" & "dormant" behavior states might be very useful on planets where there are dramatic seasonal changes. Doing something like plants shedding leaves or only producing fruit at a certain time of the year, or perhaps algae having toxic blooms when their population density is in a certain range. It would be interesting to see similar sorts of behavior states for animals, compelling them to stockpile food for a hibernation mode, or giving predators the ability to adapt more specific behavior methods when hunting, i.e. utilizing solitary stalking & ambush tactics, or even gathering with others to utilize pack hunting tactics. Certain substates could be triggered by different things too, like hunger increasing will put an animal in an active hunting or grazing behavior, but when it feeds & hunger goes down they will behave more passively to conserve energy... until something like pain or fear triggers a shift into a "fight or flight" behavior mode. Just something I thought would be cool to see play out visually, make the animals & even the plants more responsive to the environment. Even create more dynamic seasonal change by affecting the appearance of foliage or what animals are more active at certain times or places, depending on what else is active or dormant at that time
The sapling, i love your videos and this game. I have rewatch this videos and i got an idea for the problem you explained at minute 9:17, what if there is a bottom when you click an animal that makes you see the world as they see it, like a 1st person sight or keep the same sight but with the colors the creature see
Right now making animals feels pretty limited (hear me out) it would be cool if animals could have multiple branches like plants to allow for things like multiple heads. Also, the ability to curve joints in any direction and the ability to lengthen thighs and shins on feet. All the extra details are amazing, I love what you are doing man!
Would it be possible to add something to EXCLUDE certain animals from random mutations, while still having them on for others? I'm imagining a scenerio where you could let an ecosystem evolve naturally, then try to add your own designed counter-ecosystem that doesnt change, to see which wins
It would be nice if there was a and thing where a creature for example: a creature would only react to a thing if it also saw it was glowing or when a creature saw a light it would glow and move towards it
I've noticed that unless the ground in the ice age scenario gets harder over time, it's impossible to make plants that'll survive due to the fact they're forced to use the middle roots at the start

The only names for the update that sounds normal breaks away from the _ & _ naming structure
This game is going to go over peak and higher
Nice, it starts at 7 in the morning, when i wake up.
hi i am a grate fan that has bin playing your game for a long time now . i love the new changes that you are adding . but i do have a idea for the game that you could add insects ( in depth i meant just small arthropod like animals ) they can have an the same important role in the ecosystem as our bugs! for example the clean up crew ( how the clean up crew could work is that each time they eat rotten or just sum thing dead it makes the soil around it have more nutrients) but the main idea is that you can add a insectivore mouth. for example your forest is over run by tree eating bugs so the insectivores can fix the problem by eating them. and you can make the uses for the other bugs thank you for your time .
When it comes to a mouth with a ballistic tongue, im surprised you didnt also mention that lizards also possess such a feature with chameleons being the extreme example of this group!
I am so excited for named body parts as well as every other part of this update
also I love your editing & camera work
That music is great
I've followed plenty of evolution projects over the years, but this seems like the most ambitious and interesting one of them all.
finally got the game, i've been wanting this for a while
petition for running evolution simulator for 30 days or something like that
Bloody amazing to see you back
Truly the most sapling moment of all time
unfortunately I missed this episode when it came out
fortunately I get to watch the first two episodes back to back :D
I love your work
I love your comment :)
this is gonna be peak
The scary and scooby update, the scooby part is the part where you add the mystery van arriving as a random event
Thanks for sharing your ideas :)
In my country is really hard to save money to buy things, and even harder to then convert it into the us currency, but i loved your game since the first devlog, ill do my best to save some money and get it on steam as soon as i can. Great Job Sir
This is the first video I've seen about this. Consider me intrigued.
Always love these vids. Excited for a new batch
What about body armor where either it just increases health or where it adds a protection stat that either blocks damage or posibly at a certain level removes all damage from animal based attacks, and posibly a skin type that is resistant to acid and that means there immune to predatory plants
With the new camouflage thing you should add color changing skin
Theory for the name: The Scary & Perry Update
The Perry part is adding platypus beaks as a part
Super excited, been a fan and supporter for long
Le truc le plus flippant dans ton jeu c'est le fait qu'on ne peut pas jouer 5 minutes sans bugs, lags et crashes. Mais je reste optimiste pour l'avenir. Continue comme ça
I thougth the game was dead for 2 years until i JUST found your channel
yay, the project is alive! I can't buy the game yet, but as a programmer I like to follow it. Plus you play the piano, which is great. Overall, I'm happy
Oh, this is looking promising, very excited to see more!
This is merging my two favourite things!
Heck yeah! Love seeing these updates
More sapling content yaya
Im very exited for every update but especially this one because it adds many features I wanted to have
The scary and unknown would be cool
So glad your back, cant wait for more!!
I love this game, it's so much fun I am grateful that you have put in the effort to make such a wonderful game!!! I hope you are doing great and I can't wait for the next update💯p.s I love the videos that have you showing 1 species evolution
TY SO MUCH FOR READING MY COMMENT!!!!!!!
Looks really cool! I have an idea that certain talons for carnivorous flying animals could grab onto certain more turtle-like shells and fly into the air as they drop the shelled creature killing them depending on the gravity of the world. Spikey shells could negate this and would not be able to be picked up.
Thanks for this idea! The game has talons, but they can't be used this way (yet?)
The music is so extra i love it
Once you said "scary" and "flowers" my mind instantly raced to "CARNIVOROUS PLANTS!!!??? :D"
I'm looking forward to buying this game again if I'm ever able to get another computer
My hype is immeasurable. This will make my ling simulations even better!
The hormone part was sick!!!
I love this game
Even create more dynamic seasonal change by affecting the appearance of foliage or what animals are more active at certain times or places, depending on what else is active or dormant at that time
A lot of what you mention here is in game already, and if you are lucky you might even see it happen naturaly via random mutacions
All hail the MilkBug!!! 🥛🐛(Great update so far)
The sapling, i love your videos and this game. I have rewatch this videos and i got an idea for the problem you explained at minute 9:17, what if there is a bottom when you click an animal that makes you see the world as they see it, like a 1st person sight or keep the same sight but with the colors the creature see
Create a scenario that explains camouflage to players who might not understand.
I can predit the other S will be stealth. Since I spotted a camouflage thingy when you showed the HUD demonstration for hormones.
There isnt really a benefit for multiple heads tbh
Thanks for your feedback!
Multiple heads could house multiple mouths, but other than that it’s just great to have more accessibility
@@YankoMusicant-kd5jc you can do that already, in fact it can actualy evolve naturaly
Idk man it’s cool ok
A NEW MAJOR UPDATE? HELL YEAH!
Lets go dude im so excited
Another season let's go
Wow new update!!
Would it be possible to add something to EXCLUDE certain animals from random mutations, while still having them on for others? I'm imagining a scenerio where you could let an ecosystem evolve naturally, then try to add your own designed counter-ecosystem that doesnt change, to see which wins
Not at the moment, but without making promises, I like the idea
I wish there was more insect like body parts such as a torso wing, or even a colony eusocial like system
Technological innovation never stops ... Hence we never stop to ask if this game like any Game, has any impact on reality
Add bugs like it’s like a animal creation system, and you make a bug creation system
You‘re the Goat man - awesome work
It would be nice if there was a and thing where a creature for example: a creature would only react to a thing if it also saw it was glowing or when a creature saw a light it would glow and move towards it
Your music skills are magical!
I made a comment like this a few months ago I like now it goes through the whole video this time.
I've noticed that unless the ground in the ice age scenario gets harder over time, it's impossible to make plants that'll survive due to the fact they're forced to use the middle roots at the start
The ice age scenario has been broken for a long time, will be removed in this update :/
