    I noticed that plants and animals disappear after death and thought that in real life it would be a waste of energy. Dead plants could give growth to other plants nearby, and dead animal bodies could open a scavenger niche

      Anitherbissue is that ground alge can compete directly with plankton even though the plankton isnt effected by the alge they shouls make thebplankton have a diffrent plane of existence like how grass was implimented

    Idea: Add skeletons, exo-skeletons, and lack of skeletons. The exo-skeletons could be either one like an insect or one like a clam. Or, you could make shells seperate.

    • @GuyllianVanRixtel
      @GuyllianVanRixtel หลายเดือนก่อน +42

      2nd Idea: Add camouflage. Basicly, if there is a creature with a similer color to a small area, it will reduce the chance of being seen. Though the closer the observing creature is, the larger the chance it is seen.

    • @GuyllianVanRixtel
      @GuyllianVanRixtel หลายเดือนก่อน +26

      2 more smaller ideas: Add an elevator music version of the theme while skipping ahead in time. Can't remember the second one, so ima just say fix the negative amount of creatures bug.

    Maybe the plankton should have both zooplankton and phytoplankton, so as it evolves, it not only develops plants, but also into basic animals, you could also make some species have eggs and young that float as plankton, and develop into larger creatures

  • @Jonah-gi3ge
    @Jonah-gi3ge หลายเดือนก่อน +24

    Another the Sapling video, thank you Mr. Stoop! I'll finish it soon but first I want to share an idea with you: microbiomes. Nothing too complex, just a few still images of microbial looking lifeforms when you select the microbiome UI for a specific area. Along with these still images, you'll see some statistics. Things like infection chances for animals and plants (that's a whole other thing but I'm sure you get what viruses could potentially look like,) prevalence of specific kinds of microscopic life, etc.
    The microbiome functions as its own creature type, though with no real physical presence. You can edit the different statistics of a microbiome, these statistics can evolve randomly to better suit their environment, each microbiome has their own territory with a specific way of viewing it (like soil softness and temp view,) there are settings related to the microbiome you can adjust, the whole shebang for an organism type.
    Another big feature could be that a microbiome organism (technically multiple organisms but functions as one) has a minuscule chance to produce a very simple multi-cellular organism of any kind. It could be algae, plant, or animal depending on the environment.
    If you (the Sapling dev) or any other person reading comments saw this, thanks for listening to my rant. Just thought It'd be fun to share. And hey, it could influence the game a tiny bit. Like the butterfly effect. I have a bunch of ideas but I know the Sapling gets an incredible amount of suggestions so I don't want to add too much to the already massive "maybe under consideration" list. Cya, hope this made sense!

      @TheSapling one more thing. Maybe you could add carnivorous plant types, take venus fly trap, for example.

    an idea for this game would be microscopic animals and plants and there would be a microscope mode to see these animals and plants

    i feel like a good (but possibly hard) addition would be plate tectonics, which in real life played a big role in evolution and life jumping from continent to continent

    Spore was part of my childhood and I have always wanted a game based around evolution and this seems to be the game I was waiting for! I have re-watched this video a few time and now I am opening steam to buy this.
    Thank you for making this game/simulator!! 💚🌱🦠

    I like how the first land going animals lay their eggs up there, and then the babies get a meal and total safety and then head down to the water.
    For now...

      I mean, those animals are basically doing that.
      Can't have your babies eaten if they're born in an area with zero predators because none are actually able to survive or ever move where the babies are at

    For videos like this, do you just turn the mutations on and leave then on 7.5%? Or do you crank them up?

    Would there be a way to implement the “regions” or “habitat zones” that you show in the video into the actual game? I think they would be very interesting and help with visualising how creatures and the environment interact with one another. With or without, the game is great

    • @TheSapling
      @TheSapling  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your input! As you might know, the game shows *possible* habitats during placement of organisms, but not *actual* ones. I definitely like the idea, but it would require some problems solving, as it would require extra (location) data to be stored and processed to know where animals actually live.

    • @AmyRadiance
      @AmyRadiance หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheSapling I was thinking that it could work similarly to how the epoch system works but instead of tracking when species exist, it tracks where. Either that or regions are calculated at particular time intervals by finding an area of high density of a specific creature, and then checking the adjacent cells and moving outwards until it reaches a value lower lower than a specific density. Then updating regions at a regular rate (say once every 500 years or so). You could possibly use clades rather than species so that regions are less numerous and have greater diversity.

    I absolutely love this game, but my computer can barely handle it... either way, it's so interesting to see what "niches" of creatures appear- I saw one that was really specialized in traveling island to island, somehow.
