As said below, his actions went well beyond 'useful idiot'. He just, may I say weirdly, did not care what he was doing to people. He seemed to simply give no thought at all to the destruction of people's lives, indeed their imprisonment! The only spark of humanity that I have seen so far is that he wanted his wife to see that he was being called Professor! I think that he thinking of himself as a big shot. One can quite imagine what praise and buttering up the lawyers were doing to keep him on their evil path. This whole thing is almost unbelievable. The Post Office people were unconscionable! There are many that need to spend some time in prison.
