    I’m currently going through stage 4 cancer fight and I “escape” to your videos and it really helped me to feel so much better. I lived and tent camped all the areas you’ve videoed in this Wyoming locations so your work is so beautiful to me … great memories I do miss camping. Thank you so much for sharing …. I'm an over-the-road trucker who also hates the diesel smell on the hands. Most truckers use dedicated fueling gloves. Keeps the smell off your hands and you don't have to go bare skin to the cold nozzle. Just a simple pair of mechanic gloves or leather work gloves will do the trick

      Also, I don't know how big your DEF tank is but it might be a good idea to carry a gallon to a gallon and a half on the truck during winter months. In extreme cold, the DEF pumps freeze and then jugs sell out quick (don't ask me how I know, just trust me). Having an emergency supply onboard will keep you from being stranded. For my semi, I carry a 2.5 gal jug and that usually gets me about 1K miles.

  • @johnreyn19
    @johnreyn19 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    If you coil your hose with the "over under" technique it is much easier to manage. You just throw one end when you are ready to use it.

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats how I do my cords, but never thought to change the coil pattern with the hose. I'll give it a try when it gets warmer. This hose was very stiff and likes to stay in it's originally packaged coil. It's a stiff hose even when its warm out, but if change the coil, put some velcro straps on it and lay it in the sun, it might stay that way.
      Thanks for the tip! This hose is a nightmare to deal with if the temps are below 50f.

    Thanks for the video, was fun seeing you guys drive through my home state. Just remember, Jackson isn't really WY ;) It's more like a little annex of California in the middle of our state. Our winters can be brutal for sure, but we actually get less snow than you'd think. We tend to have 3-4 major storms over winter, essentially getting it all in one lump sum. The worst of it is the WIND. It's nothing to see 50-70 mph winds for days at a time. Gets really aggravating and can making driving really difficult. Semi trucks get blown over all the time.

    Love your video! We love camping in the winter. We use the Little Buddy heater to get the temperature up so that we do not use as much propane on our Aldi. It only takes about ten minutes to warm our Cirrus up. It worked for us at minus eleven in Yellowstone and it’s safe for indoor use with the kitchen window cracked open. Once everything is up to temperature we shut it off. Safe travels and hope you can make it to the Truck Camper Rally.

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our Alde holds temperatures very well, once its warmed up. We use a hair dryer for that initial warm up, works well and has no fumes to worry about. Sasha likes to also warm her feet up with it... I do too sometimes :)
      We have the TC Rally on our list, but this year is going to be really complicated and we don't yet know if we will make it. But, we really want to, last year was a blast!

      Going into freezing territory, carwash those wheels, water near walmart and at propane store. You are buying propane so just ask...Can I get water. DRAIN that supply hose. Cover windshield to hold in heated cab. Passthrough window to heat cab or just start dinner. Get better bolts at Wal-Mart or auto zone. Hope all that water doesn't freeze since it is so cold out. Best of luck!

    Great video! Also, as a side note... the 6.7L Cummins motors don't use glow plugs... they have a grid heater that supper heats the air going into the intake... HUGE improvement over the old glow plug system! Sorry... I'm a diesel guy... I can't help myself! Again... GREAT video and look forward to more! Thanks for the content!!!

    Scott, love the videos. You are a wealth of information. Will be purchasing our truck and camper in the near future and I know you’ve mentioned some of it in your videos but would love to see a video about your truck, why you picked a ram, modifications you’ve done to it, specifically the suspension, and are you happy with everything or what you wish you would have done differently or any future plans for it. You seem like a someone who puts a lot of thought and research into your decisions and would love to get your insight.

    Hey Scott I read that you won the truck camper magazine calendar contest. That’s great. I will definitely be buying a copy when it comes out.
    It’s so nice watching you folks so we can learn from your experience in your truck and camper. If you’re travelling much in the cold put some quality diesel fuel conditioner in your tank. Diesel fuel can gel in the cold and the conditioner takes care of any water freezing in your lines.
    Today we put an order in for a 2022 Lance 1172 truck camper, largest model Lance makes. We picked out our options and colours paid the deposit. We traded our Lance 992 in on it. The camper will be ready sometime in late March next year. Looking forward to it.
    Safe travels my friends.

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We were very excited to hear that we got a spot in the calendar! Thanks for following our adventures, it's pretty fun sharing it here on TH-cam 😎
      Thanks for the tips, we haven't spent much time in the cold with our truck. I do use treatments from time to time, but I'll be looking at anti-gel treatments. I haven't had a problem, but I'm very familiar with what can happen. We are in a warmer location now, and plan to steer clear of the harsh cold if we can.
      Congrats on your camper purchase! Sometimes I dream of a nice big camper, but there are always tradeoffs. Those 1172s are impressive! Safe travels to you too!

    Yea at times depending on where I'm at there's no free camping. And in the winters most campgrounds are closed . I'm in Tahoe and lots of snow ❄️ piled up still from last snow storm . A good thing here is they have the snow park passes $25 for the whole winter season . With that you can park legally in parking lots really close to skiing resorts and right on the lake . Works for me and my ski bum career .... Have fun at the beach ⛱️....I'm heading to Santa Cruz next week myself .....Happy trails 🌞⛱️🚚🍺

    Great video. One idea: Get one of those 1/2 gal pump sprayers from nearly most box stores to use for many purposes. ($6-12) We use outside hand wash, clean muddy tires, fire pit extinguisher, even wash back steps/door. Has an adjustable spray tip to direct fog or straight stream as desired.
    Bonus idea: Bought propane sensor at Ace to watch out level. (Mopeka $35) monitoring by Bluetooth. Went to bed at 11% with lows at 35° and now at 1% on day 3. Ready to switch tanks soon as it empties or at bedtime.
    Safe journey!

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm going to check out that propane sensor. Thanks for the tip! And we do have a spray bottle, but it was buried in the back of the truck. We really try to avoid deep mud, so this was a rare occation.

      The fuel level 'gauge' that attached online with tank hose has been useless. Returning to store. Sensor from Mopeka works much more accurately.

    Here is a suggestion to stop your bike rack to rattle so much. You need two short ratchet tie downs. Take one go from you tow hook on your truck to one end of your bike rack and use the other one for the other side.

    • @Stonyboot
      @Stonyboot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I did something similar using turnbuckles from a hardware store. It has helped tremendously. The bike rack itself is starting to wear out and I have a ratchet strap keeping tension on it to stop it from wobbling. After 50k miles, I can't really complain.
